Can't say for certain, but I can point toward at least one who is most certainly *not* a trained journalist.
Kenjix got it right: you will never see a newspaper reporting on scuttlebut and hearsay because unless they have evidence one way or the other, it's not worth reporting. Considering how easy to approach MS's PR people are, the least Kotaku could have done is reported on their statement.
There's nothing really wrong with what Kotaku did (or Joystiq for that mat...
Talk about over-simplifying the console race, Yahoo.
I'm done holding my breath for Home, that's for sure, but I'm willing to cross my fingers for this one.
I would definitely buy that.
DLC is still pretty restrictive... a lot of people don't even connect their consoles to the net, so a disc-release seems pretty smart on their part.
You do bring up a good point, though; why not sell the game as an expansion to the original, and offer it as a download as well? They'd get the same sales as a stand-alone title (if not more, since it would be cheaper) and then also get people to buy the original game on top of it.
Sounds like a crock of sh*t to me, but then so does Fear Factor and people eat that up.
He can say whatever he wants on his personal blog; he wasn't at E3 spouting off about Palin.
If all you know is what a politician or talking head has told you, you're just as ignorant as he is. That's the reality of media and politics: unless you're in it, you only know what they want you to know, and it's unlikely that either side wants you to know the whole story.
Not sure I know what gamming is.
I dunno... I found this game to be more frustrating than challenging. I almost gave up on beating the last level.
From what I've read, they tend to consolidate a group of rumors together and gather all the info from other sites into one place, and if they have info of their own, they add that in to place a verdict on it. Their predictions are at least reasonable... I think they were wrong about Sony not developing a proprietary headset, but I can't think of any other times when they were wrong.
I don't see his point... he says there's a lot of room to innovate, and there will undoubtedly be prettier games as engineers get some time to fiddle with the system. Sounds like they're nowhere near maxing it out.
I do think it's possible, but I really don't think MS cares if it does. The exclusive DLC announcement just stacked their deck a little more, and they wanted to secure enough initial sales to rival what was gonna be sold on the PS3 -- which they did wonderfully. Anything that happens now is gonna benefit Rockstar much more than it would MS.
Getting that DLC on two platforms would simply make Rockstar more money and validate the work they put into it... contracts may have alread...
I dunno, MotionPlus is a nice tool for developers, but it's no panacea... that minigame Nintendo demoed during E3 was extremely shallow and would disappoint most Star Wars fans were it a lightsaber game.
Oh! I have one! You shouldn't criticize your president unless you've been one!
From what I've read, MMOs and online shooters do a lot of trickery to keep everyone looking like their clocks are all ticking at the same rate; a lot of predictions are made on the client to minimize what's being communicated to the game's server, so there's... I guess you can call it a mask on the lag that's there.
With fighters, that lag becomes obvious and unacceptable. Just how the genre works, I guess.
I'd so love to be a fly on the wall during one of these GeoW sessions...
I expect Home to be in an "open beta" before the holiday season starts, and for Sony to repeatedly remind users that the service is not finished. It's really not a bad idea to do that, particularly if you release regular updates and keep an open dialog with the user community.
Honestly, I'm more interested in a price drop for the external hard drive. I know I need more than 20gigs of space, but I'd rather risk blowing my warranty and hack a standard hard drive to do it.
Yeah, that trophy icon is gonna be flashing on my screen for like an hour as they all cycle through retroactively *cheer*
