I dunno if the info on the APC was out when the video was shot, but the bubble dropped by the APC doesn't seem to be a bio-field generator... and the vehicle's boost does destroy vehicles.

Yeah, they do indeed need to be careful, but cutting out the non-mainstream press is not being careful. It's a quick fix that's likely to backfire, like it did with E3.

If they keep the setup they used this past year, they won't have any problems with that. One section for business and recruiting, and another hall for press coverage and general exposition.

... about the possibility of costs rising, but this certainly brings up some additional concerns.

Probably because full destruction doesn't make for good multiplayer. It makes for a cool demonstration of an in-game engine, but there's no reason to go the extra mile for a game that could very well fall apart with that much freedom.

... is gonna be the key factor in this game's success. If the combat sucks, the game will be too repetitive. If it's too difficult, people will spend too much time running and the platforming will become repetitive. They need to show some more of the combat mechanics, otherwise I'm not sold on this one yet.

It's a great premise, so I wish DICE the best on this one.

It definitely looks fun, but balancing powers like the ones they're offering isn't easy. I hope they don't drop the ball on that.

... was to make HDD's not only standard, but upgradeable using *non-proprietary drives*. Yes, it makes the PS3 more of a PC than the 360, but who cares? People understand PCs and have enjoyed using the freedom for many years.

I doubt MSFT will make the same mistake next gen.

It's definitely cosmetic, but it's fun to play around with the tactics of creating your own path to the objective. I can't wait to try more levels.

I really wish they were including more than 1 or 2 Hayden's per match... that would be sick.

The presentation wasn't about the business side of Home. It was centered on the development side of things. The questions posed by the EA guy has been answered on several occasions, most notably Phil Harrison's presentation at last year's GDC, so again, his question was posed to the wrong person.

Why would they bring along a marketing guy or the project lead when their audience should know what the presentation was about? The first words out of Cox's mouth were informative eno...

I love the passive-aggressive nature of these deals.

Take Two: "We thank you for your offer, but we believe you are severely undervaluing the power of our offering."
Translation: "If you want GTA4, you need to pay a LOT more than that, biatch."

EA: "We can offer lots to Take Two, including the stability to compete in such a tough industry."
Translation: "Take the money, or we will end you."

And weep a little inside. Cox isn't qualified to answer a question of market value for such a platform: he designs the tools the presentation was centered around. The question EA had for him was completely irrelevant to the context of the presentation, and if you had been there, you would have seen the glares that guy got.

He has every right to ask the question, but he should have been asking someone who knows what the Home platform is designed to do for publishers.

If someone was forced to make 1000pts worth of Achievements for the 360 version of a game, it doesn't take a genius to port those over to the PS3 version with a nice "copy-paste" maneuver. Hell, its what Sega did with The Club.

The only difference is the ability Sony offers for publishers and devs to create visual representations of their Accomplishments. Why people complain about that is beyond me.

It's become clear that you don't need to attach trophies to Accomplishments. They're just a special reward.

I was in the room during the Home presentation, and this guy's comment was largely taken out of context. The developer's questions did seem a bit pointed, and yes, Mr. Cox did pause, but as he explained in his answer, he's not qualified to answer a question about the marketability of Home items: he's a tools developer for the HDK, nothing more.

Also, since it's come up several times, his questions was not in regards to Home trophies specifically. The presentation showed how de...

Sure, some shooters have been popular, but Halo's popularity extends well beyond any others. Why is that, when its not that good of a game? I dunno, I've never bought a Halo game and probably never will, but it's a reality the industry is dealing with.
