Only reason for EA to go with the cloud - if it wont cost them a dime and they can replace some of their own game servers.

But it will cost, the cloud is supposed to have soft edges - you connect to the cloud not to a specific server. This instances self organize to get your match the best possible performance - good luck...

Without cloud: Everyone connection directly to a specific server.

With cloud: Internal additional (highspeed) IP messag...

One month away...

That is really close indeed. And then delay it for so long...

The thing I have been most concerned about for this game is actually gameplay. How to make this interesting and not repetitive...

Making trailers out of a few scenes - OK, great.
But if the same thing repeats over and over...

Such a late delay, and such a long delay. Could it be play testing of the final game that did not end well? Requiri...

Only two generations?

Good work DICE on the consoles!

Did you heal, fix vehicles, throw ammo boxes?

Lead by example, people will see the benefit and follow!

There are lots of new players at the moment, show them how things are done!

Do you play the objective or just run around and shoot at any enemy that might show up?

You haven't played Battlefield until your squad captured a flag from a group of defenders. Even sneaking around alone to take a flag is much more fun than run and gun...

While you take the flag the opposing team will try to finish you in all ways they can think of.

BF4 SP sounds a lot better with this version. It is supposed to play more like the MP game.

But my point was that people comparing KZ with BF4 often compares SP KZ with MP BF4.

BF4 Frostbite 3 engine is MP first, and the difference to SP is not that big. But for some reason BF3 asked for a quick time event when killing the rat. It should just have been a normal knife kill... (one of the things I think have changed to BF4)

KZ on the other hand...

Suppose Microsoft required games to use DX11 and no low level api?

Sony allows low level access.

Which one would look better? DICE plant those rumours and Microsoft is forced to do another 180... (maybe by allowing DICE/AMD Mantle)

Result: closer in appearance then when tweeted

Most testers used single player when testing BF3, it does not require much CPU.

BUT some tested multi player, quite a different story - check them out!

Suppose you have 15 games in development, all using one game engine.

How much additional work would it be to port and optimize that game engine to one additional API Mantle when you are already doing PC-DX, XB360-DX, XBone-DX, PS3, PS4 compared to all work needed to create contents for the 15 games? Especially considering that you port to low level on four of the five architectures?

What if the port to low level APIs will make all your games crush* any compet...

Because games (applications) will not be open!
Mantle will be a part of the game not the OS, will reduce the possibility to add library/driver hacks.

"Library" being cross platform and highly optimized.

Very few contenders remains: AMD, Nvidia, Intel

The thing with Frostbite is that they will have to do this engine optimization once.

All their games will benefit.

POwerVR Linux is as easy if not easier than Windows!

My mother, 69 years old, runs Linux. Her problem is never Linux itself. It is more general confusion thinking that it is something wrong with her computer when a web server does not answer.

I myself has run Linux as my main operating system for at least 10 years.

I sometimes gets confused when helping my kids out on their Windows game computer. [lots of old Windows 3.1 Multimedia games does...
