@randomass171 the more complex a game (or any other program for that matter is) the more bugs.
There are standards for programming safety/life critical software out there but you wouldn't buy a game like Battlefield programmed to those standards.
- No, really you wouldn't!
And whatever you think a game IS NOT safety/life critical.

If I have understood Frostbite correctly You model for high end.
Then the tool "compiles/assembles" the models for each platform.
PS3 using Blue ray could store the data of PS4.
But it can not retrieve it as effectively.
It also have less space to keep it in fast memory.
Finally it can't render, fill textures etc as effectively.
So PS3 players will get a simplified environment.
Less detail (simpler 3D mode...
Looks like you can make a living by being a DragonAge wild life photographer...
EA is giving BioWare alot of extra time with this release!
About one year...
@Volkama NFS Rivals is also available on consoles.
(but I read some were that it was not stock Frostbite 3, both targeting console launch it only makes sense not to interfere in either game with the improvements made for the other...)
I can already predict the winner, so yes it would be a crazy comparison...
Use same hardware please!
Guess that is around the corner of the Globe Arena... :)
I am pretty sure AMD will be able to release Mantle for XBoxOne and PS4 (and AMD GPUs for Win7 and Win8).
- Even if it wouldn't give ANY performance boost on consoles, developer time would get a boost!
- Add some OpenGL (it also has low level features now) and you cover remaining parts of PC, Linux (including mobile), and Apple.
So, why don't they?
- Consoles are closed environments. Microsoft and SONY can veto whats going in...
Bad network connection - lots of dropped frames (icon shows up in bottom of chat field)...
If several players have bad connections - the game get problems...
I was thinking about this little tweet from AMD and was about to write this N4G article myself.
"Sign-up for “Direct3D & the Future of Graphics APIs” on March 20, learn about our partnership with @Microsoft"

PS4 had ALOT of CPU power from its SPUs
- if you could fit your task in their limited memory
- overlay memory movement with calculations
Even with all those x86 CPUs the PS4 does not look that great (of cause SONY avoids to market that!). But I suspect the PS4 CPU has better double precision floating point performance than the PS3 (CPU+SPU).
Now consider particle effects and other stuff that requires physic simulations. Where would you LIKE to...
"There are no scripted moments, no thrill-ride style offline portion of the game that we’re used to from Battlefield and Call of Duty titles."
And there is no single player
And no destruction.
=> No reason to script anything!

With more ESRAM MS would have got even less CU...
The ESRAM takes lots of space on the chip, increase area and your yield will go DOWN making your price go UP. No ESRAM gives the most CUs for the same price...
Having a fast memory on chip is not a bad idea, the problem is that SONY had a better idea.
Lets guess what you got to do to fully utilize the ESRAM.
1. Render to the ESRAM (framebuffers)
2. Put models and compressed tex...

Caused by internal race, Windows, or CPU?
Restarting single player is not a bug it is a feature implemented especially for those of you who complained about the short time needed to play through.
This was the easiest fix they could come up with.
Are you grateful? Nah!
:)
If they had been real life boring ugly trees they would have been less boring than these.
- Little variation.
- Very static (a flag, some papers but not much more moves)
- Far to many trees if reality based...
Actually I think they use trees to cheat, not having to render buildings at very varied distances...
Guess most play testing is done by a single tester. Even with others looking they instinctively will know to keep quiet.
Microsoft will need to key voice commands to players - good luck. (Will take extra cycles...)
BTW is PS4 controller headphone two way? Much easier to control who is talking if microphone is close to the individual player...
"We've pushed them as far as WE can [before release]"
