The only thing that I can see would be of detriment to Blu-ray is if the resolution of televisions drastically increases in the next few years. Other than that, I'll be happy with what I have and I'll continue to support the format.
If the game is gold then the beta is probably more to test server load and bandwith. So keeping the beta open would mean that people still in the beta would be another percentage of load on top of what the game actually generates.
I wouldn't mind it releasing early. I'm all for it. But it'll be out in a few weeks, either way.
It still takes more than a minute to load, so installing completely to HDD doesn't really buy you much, either.
Seems to me that if you've seen one Home video you've seen them all. You walk around, talk to people and dance. I'm sure I'll try it, but I'm also sure that I'll tire of it quickly.
I hope you're right.
I would find it more interesting if a Sony VP was saying that the PS3 had no real advantages. Of course this guy is spouting evangelical for Sony. That's what he gets paid to do. No sense posting anything to the contrary.
That's quite a long list. Wow. This is a great resource for Xbox 360 owners.
And to those talking about exclusives and "also on x system", what does it matter? Multiplats are still 360 releases, so please don't come in here and try to turn this into a flamewar. Just go spend the time making your exclusive lists for your preferred platform and let those who enjoy their 360's look at what the future holds for them.
I know what you mean. I was ambivalent until last week when I saw a load of video of the game. Then I went out and preordered it, because I think this one's going to be worth it.
Got my Kratos sackboy download code, too.
I'm not looking forward to getting spammed with "hay guise check out my LBP level!!1!" every time someone creates a crappy level, but I'm sure there will be enough good stuff out there made by people who invest the time that it takes.
I wonder what the price of the 60gb hard drive will be? If it is $100, then what has been stolen from anyone? A $199 Arcade and a $149 120gb hard drive is still cheaper than an Elite. A $10 HDMI cable later and the only difference is that your console is white and you have 5 free arcade games and a memory unit.
I agree with you. The initial interest will be high. Millions will sign on when it comes out. Then, very quickly, interest will drop off and you'll see relatively few people actually online at any given time. I would imagine less than 10% will be actively using it within 3 months of the first time they sign on.
Do the die-hard defenders want to know why I think that? How many of the games in your collection are you still playing every single day after owning them for 3 months? Wh...
Is it really a girl? How does he know?
I think that from just looking at video you can see similarities between Home and Second Life. You have an avatar that is a digital representation of yourself. You move around in a virtual world and interact with other virtual players. You can watch movies and listen to music. You can play games. You can live in a virtual domicile.
All of those things are things you can do in Second Life. Don't you see the similarities? There's no sense in getting all defensive. It's nice to hav...
I'll give it a shot. I'm convinced that everyone will rush it for a week or two then quickly lose interest.
I would consider fixing it if it breaks doing something about it. My 360 lasted for 17 months before it died and Microsoft replaced it for free. My PS3's one year warranty is now up, so if the thing just goes belly-up on me what is Sony going to do about it?
I wonder what the price of the 60GB hard drive will be? Too bad Microsoft doesn't just smarten up and sell a caddy that you can put your own drive into. That would be a much better option than one of their pre-determined configurations.
How many PS3's do you own?
I don't have a problem with companies looking for ways to prevent illegal use of their software as long as it doesn't interfere with my legitimate use of the software. I think allowing three installs is reasonable.
The best I've seen so far is what Apple does. You can use your iTunes on any 5 computers at once. If you want to use it on a 6th you need to deauthorize another machine. I would be OK with only being able to use a game on one mac...
That's great for PS2 owners in India, but it doesn't guarantee quality titles into the future. The list in the article has some big name games, but there aren't very many. Developers are going to be sinking the lion's share of their capital into PS3 games, so the quality of new PS2 games is going to be like the quality of PS1 games after the PS2 launched.
I completely agree.
It's funny. This story has Xbox nuts crying clearance just like the PS3 nuts were crying clearance when the price of the 20gb 360 model dropped.
Who cares? Gamers always win with price cuts.
