Agreed. Unless it's made by a first party studio, exclusivity is not guaranteed.
I think the smart thing to do for developers is to announce their game for the PS3 only, create some buzz about it, then turn around and say exclusivity is unknown at this point... then wait for a MS delegate to arrive with a money filled envelope. Instant winning strategy for all developers!
No 2nd analog stick = no sales to me. It is absolutely essential to bring console-like games to the handheld market. While there have been valiant efforts so far with decent results, they always fall short of the console games because of the lack of a 2nd analog stick.
@1.1, yes I was thinking of the cases where they sold peripheral like game enhancer that could also be used for copying. In this case when it is pure software it is easy to hide. I'm sure they will still try to track them though, and I'm sure they will try (and fail) to combat it with firmware upgrade.
And he says that is "proof", the only proof here is that journalism has taken a slide in credibility in recent years.
Agreed, there were (and still are Persona 4!) some really great games on the PS2. It's not about what the Xbox could and couldn't do; it's just that many great developers chose to develop on the PS2.
If that's true, I expect lawsuits, rushed firmware upgrade, etc.
@2.1, I would expect that MotionPlus would add precision since it adds new data points. I doubt however that it would help with lag, it's mostly limited by processing power of the Wii and now it will have more input data to process. However I will get it to try when it comes out. When it comes to new technology, I'll try everything at least once.
Maybe they should replace the zombies with polygonal Miis, that way the Wii should be able to process a hundred of them.
I work in a technical field so I am all in favor of progress... when it is actually progress.
The wii-remote\sixaxis this generation is a good example where innovation was applied in the form of motion sensing. In reality though, games relying heavily on that turn into either mini-games or attempt at real games with poorer controls. For real games the more precise the controls the better, they need to be responsive and accurate. Motion sensing has a bit of lag in response time...
I agree, I hope those avatar are optional... maybe an invisible guy avatar would work.
I agree with you kapedcrusader, I've also tried to play older games lately and it's not the same anymore, the context of time (what was the state of the art back then) and my own age changing, just doesn't jive anymore. People like us have moved on. I'm still ok with PS2 and PSP type graphics but PS1 and most DS games are just too painful for me.
I understand however that some are nostalgic and somehow are able to regress in time and enjoy those games like if they were just rel...
My understanding is that it will be the same as the current downloadable Netflix selection, called Instant Queue. It is like you said older movies; it's a bit like a clearance bin.
The issue I have with both the Marketplace shows\movies and the new Sony service is that it's more costly than using Netflix's mail service if you watch a lot of content, especially for shows. On a DVD rental you get 4-6 episodes for the same price and you can get many DVDs a month. With these downloads you have to pay 4 to 6 times $1.99 for the same experience, that really adds up.
The Netflix instant queue add-on is nice but as mentioned the selection is limited.

I would rather play "just another FPS" than pretend to play music with Wii Music. It takes many genre to please everyone, don't take our FPS away.
I'm a big RPG fan and I was disappointed at first too with the lack of RPG announcement. However after thinking about it this was a US trade show so they probably localized it by showing more shooters. I think (hope) the next trade show in Japan should have more RPG showings.
I agree with you. My last hopes that Nintendo would not abandon real gamers were crushed after this presentation.
Wii Music is not even a game in my eyes. Pretending to play music and then listen to the game play the music. Is this for real? I mean seriously at this point I think they could come up with anything and the casuals would eat it up no questions asked; it's like they are hyponotized or maybe brainwashed.
Star Wars game anyone? This could actually allow some lightsaber action...
I agree that it seems to be just a laptop. However the timing is strange. PSP phone? New PSP? Nah, no way they would have been able to pull such a surprise nowadays.
I think a good compromise is to release a demo a few weeks after the game comes out.
The fans of the brand\IP will buy it no matter what anyway. During the first few weeks if the game is good it will sell more with word of mouth.
Then after a few weeks, they have nothing to loose by releasing a demo to allow a chance to the still undecided to give it a try.
I think it's all about seeing the story to completion while enjoying the gameplay. If either the story or the gameplay is not to your taste, it's understandable not to finish a game. However if both are good, why would you want to stop before the end?
It's like a TV series. If it's good, people will watch it for 5+ years; if it's not it usually get cancelled after a season or two because people stopped watching it.
Personally, I don't understand people that play m...
