While there are always exceptions, I agree that the best games for each platform are exclusives (or at least started this way). There are a few good multiplatform games, but most are average or worst.
Oh and that boxart is sweet although I really like the story picture too.
I think honestly that any game that allows content creation will need to get a rating of Teen or 15+ and above, trying to control or police users will never work.
We'll know for sure at the Tokyo Game Show (TGS), if not announced there then it won't be this year.
I for one fully expect Nintendo to milk this for as long as they can, I would think Fall '09 more likely than by the end of '08.
The 360 made me stop PC gaming but it wasn't because of Live per se, it was just because it allows me to play PC games on the big screen in the comfort of my living room.
I started PC gaming, and then later got introduced to consoles starting with PS1 and N64. I was still playing PC games when the Xbox came out. However with the 360 and all it's PC games there just wasn't any point to upgrading the PC once again, instead I used that money on an HDTV!
I didn't disagree, I understand that you are asking a question, no saying that you don't care.
It's good news but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet. It's October for Japan. Will it come to the US? Will it go to Europe? If so when? It would seem like summer 09 or even fall 09 would be the most likely. Publishers might be hesitant to bring PS2 games over at a time when many will have converted to newer consoles.
I have nothing against an optional touchscreen for casual\puzzle games. However for real games any new iteration MUST HAVE a second thumbstick or analog control. Anything less will be a failure in my opinion.
Also, those fans should be careful what they wish for. Given Square-Enix current trend they would be just as likely to announce a FFVII remake and spin-off... for the 360.
It's actually not at all special to gaming, it has to do with software development. Anyone who has ever been involved with software development can attest that delays often happen. Games are just a piece of software meant to entertain and they follow almost the same development process.
They are probably having problems convincing Cammie to allow this game on the console. Maybe they should throw in a few cute puppies in there to sway her.
Sad really, from the picture it looks like they wasted a perfectly good squash court.
I agree Dark General that there should be more anime on Blu-ray. The good news is that they are coming. Some studios are making their new series HD ready so not only will they jump on Blu-ray upon release, they will look even better than what is out there now. Just have to be patient.
I agree, graphically I could see it on the PSP given the latest graphics on some of those PSP games. However the lack of a 2nd thumbstick will make it limited in controls.
On the DS though, they will have to dumb down the graphics, remove the gore and censure some of the dialog. Just kidding.
In short though, not quite the best platforms for a game of this genre.
Actually, Gamepro is a pro PC/360 site\magazine most of all. But yes, they might be a bit biased against the Wii. However, it remains that of the big 3, the Wii has the least amount of first party games coming out this holiday IF you discount the mini-games, party games, and other family friendly offerings.
Real gamers to retire buying Wii games until next year.
Great, can't wait for the Wii Back Massager, the Wii Sugar and Cholesterol Tester, and the Wii Dental Cleaner.
Seriously though, the more he talks the less it seems likely that he will give fans what they want. Nintendo might have to put a B team on those sequels.
Nobody is mentioning this but my guess is that they postponed it so as not to steal any thunder from Gears of War 2. If they wait until after Gears of War 2 comes out to officially talk about Halo 4, then my guess was probably right. We'll see.
I agree in principle. However except for very rare cases, most of the great games on each console have been first\second party or 3rd party exclusive (at least at the original design, porting years later doesn't count).
I agree with 1.1
I loved FFVII to FFX, however FFX-2 was a letdown. FFXI was something else. FFXII was great technically but lacked story depth. Project Sylpheed was quite poor. So yes, they have not always yielded perfect games and as such there is a risk if they are getting distracted or trying to do too much compromising that it could not live up to expectations (it pains me to think of Dragon Quest on the DS\Wii).
GTA IV is a good exemple where going multiplat...
I agree that playing on an easier level than your skills is not fun.
However for games to sell the most (so the developer can make money and more games later) a good compromise is to offer many difficulty levels and frequent save points.
Experienced players can play at the higher difficulty level and choose not to save to get the "old days" thrill of gaming.
New players can still play the game they paid for without getting stopped at the first ...
A multiplayer strategy RPG? I played a lot of those and don't remember anything like that.
