@1.1, he is talking about a wireless Nunchuck from Nintendo (so no cables between the Wiimote and Nunchuck).
I'm looking forward to the console version since I stopped PC gaming years ago. The developers said in an interview around May 08 that the console version was making good progress. Could become another RPG for the 360 next Spring?
Vista is the perfect example of why monopolies are bad for customers. If people and companies were not forced into Vista (due to monopoly), it wouldn't sell like it is and the company would be forced to offer a better product.
Instead they just patch it and the customers have to put up with it for years until they release a new one that people will still be forced into if monopoly persists. There are alternatives but like all good monopolies, widespread adoption of an alterna...
Yes it all points to a slimmer re-design. Probably using the new chips for both CPU and GPU, so a Jasper model.
Smaller size will help sales in Japan. Cooler will help those that still fear RROD.
Most importantly for MS, being cheaper to built it will make room for price cuts in the future. Also with this redesign the 360 will have some staying power to coexist with the next Xbox (720?), just like the PS2 slim is coexisting with the PS3.
Please don't remind me that it's coming for the DS. <shake my head>
A major popular franchise like that should have come out on a console, even the Wii would have been a better choice. If they wanted to make a DS version it should have been just a spin-off, not the next main installment.
@ 1.1, not yet, they will wait after this holiday season. Probably late spring to early summer 2009 for that kind of announcement.
Next week will just be about the new Live experience and some mini-games.
So I guess Peter Moore will be the head of the new EA - Microsoft joint venture for their next gaming console? Just speculation from my part.
Gabe the Hut: "You're feeble tricks won't work on me young Google..."
joking
Microsoft while having some faults is a very calculating company. If they are closing studios they have a good reason to do so. Remember way back the rumors that EA would launch a console? And now Peter Moore is at EA still beating the MS drum... And the EA guy he replaced is now at MS... And now MS is shedding studios... And there are more and more talk of a new Xbox console...
If you follow the bread crumbs I would think it possible that MS might do a partnership or joint ve...
@ 1.3, I agree that people (customers and journalists) should keep debating the good and bad of each offering using a proper tone and intelligent talking points.
However corporations and their executives should set a professional tone and focus on their own products. They can say we have better this and that... but when they start dissecting the technical choices that a competitor makes or other internal decisions the competition makes, it's out of line and only incites troubl...
Don't forget when they abandoned the "Plays for Sure" initiative that they had started for music.
Wow, that's all they could muster as a list? It's better than nothing but I wouldn't brag about it when it's weaker than both competitors' listings.
Agree with you both above and especially with ToastMan018, why can't they just be proud of their own product and tout its own merits instead of always trying to slander the competition? When executives like Moore and "Major Nelson" have this kind of attitude, no wonder the fans adopt the same language and attitude. This has contributed to a lot of flaming and it has fractured the industry.
Sorry, pitched too high for my hearing, I would need a dog to relay it to me.
If it looks like a weasel, acts like a weasel and talks like a weasel, well he might just be ...
I agree. Personally I mostly just care for achievements that also unlock something (new level, new skill, new weapon, etc.). Otherwise I just concentrate on what is actually fun to play.
To answer your last question, I do have some friends that force themselves to play games they admit are not that good just to get the points. In those cases it is purely for boosting their own ego and for self-validation.
So MS works on the OS for the Dreamcast, Peter Moore pulls the plug on the Dreamcast and then goes to work for Microsoft who just happens to start a console of their own... Quite a coincidence! <wink> <wink>
I hope they come through with making a console version, I stopped PC gaming years ago.
I'm a multiple console owner and play 360 and PS3 equally. I stopped shopping at Gamestop because I don't like to be told what to buy or be judged by it. Online only for me now.
I agree. However the PSP keeps getting hacked, that's probably what is holding Sony back on this.
