@5.1, I agree with your comment. Making rocks and other normally non-reflective surfaces look shiny is not an improvement for me either, but it fools the masses.

If anything, this recent organized viral attacks on the PSP makes me think that MS is starting to lay the ground work (through the usual misinformation and FUD) for a handheld of their own in the near future.

And very easy too.

You have to take into account that he is generalizing based on a small subset of developers (Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Sega, Ubisoft and PlatinumGames), there are many developers like Sony and Nintendo that were not covered by this event. So there is still room for pleasant surprises. I'm not saying it will happen but at least it's too early to reach negative conclusions.

@Xiru, same here, I own all 3 because of exclusives but most of my gaming time is spent on 360 and PS3 and it may remain this way until the next Zelda I guess.

@5.1, I don't dislike the Wii, it just doesn't have a lot of games for me at this point. I enjoyed Zelda, the RE4 remake and the Okami remake but all 3 of those were available on the Gamecube or PS2. I enjoy long single player game with an interesting story.

Nintendo is becoming synonymous with casual and kid's games. It's making them tons of money so they won't change anytime soon.

Not a casual gamer or a little kid? Get one or more of: 360\PS3\PC, problem solved. That's what I did and those Wii sales charts don't bother me.

I agree that it may be the direction the next PSP will take. However it will keep satisfying the same market (older teens and young adults) while the next DS will keep addressing the casual market. So it is expected that the next PSP will still sell less than the next DS, it's a smaller market. Within each market segment, they are both top sellers and they are both success.

Well, there is only one handheld that allows me to play games like God of War, Killzone, Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy VII. So I am quite happy that the PSP exists. Could it use more games? Sure. Is it a failure? No, its target market is just smaller than the casual market that's all.

@fox02, while I am looking forward to 6 of those titles in the genre of shooters\racers, I do agree with you that as a JRPG fan it has been disappointing so far. On the PS3, only Folklore so far was interesting in this genre and only as an action-RPG. I must say however that it's not limited to the PS3.

The Wii only had Zelda so far as an action-RPG (and even that is available on the last-gen Gamecube). As for the 360, I was disappointed with Blue Dragon and Lost Odysee, the...

So since you're not controlling individual characters like in other RPGs, does that mean it will play like a Dynasty Warriors game? I'm not sure how well that will go with the RPG crowd. Definitely will need to try the free demo first (which will eventually come to XBox Live).

That was excellent! Bubble up!

For those that don't get it, you need to play MGS4 :)

Jeffy... maybe you should consider WiiFit instead...

I've seen you post this many times. Kudos to you. With all the rumors and "sources" nowadays, it's hard to tell the real info from people just talking BS.

I'm curious, from the 2 games you've seen, are they going after the adult\seniors with party games or after the younger market with kiddy mini-games?

6479d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

I don't disagree. It will be quite a challenge. Nintendo has been beating the drums in magazines and on TV for months and years now about "Let's all play with our wiis" and make it a party-centric system with mini-games.

Microsoft will need to put a lot of spin and advertisement, a lot more than just Viva Pinata, to have any impact. I'm also unsure how the uber-hardcore 360 players will feel if a wand controller brings Barbie and kiddy games to their console.

At first I was a bit shocked but thinking about it, it's more like a reward program.

I have nothing against that as it doesn't use FUD or bash the competition, it doesn't bind users to only their solution, and it doesn't try to stop competition from offering their services; unlike many past MS tactics. As long as they don't make exclusive deals to keep businesses from having their products come up in alternative search engines, then I think it is a valid and ethical business pra...

Seems like a perfect project for Uwe Boll! Sorry, couldn't resist...

I wouldn't bet on that. What it should get and what it will get is two separate things. It's a PS3 exclusive and it's been hyped for a while, PS3 haters are sure to come out and score it down. Hopefully not, we'll see.

@2.3 another way to look at it is that it is a new Oblivion game but using the Fallout setting. I heard from some people invited in Beta testing and they concurred that it was a good comparison.

Agreed. Showing such weak resolve in less than 2 days will leave Yahoo very vulnerable. They are pretty much done for now. On the plus side there might be interesting spin-offs opening around from the departing talent after the takedown occurs.
