@1.1, I have a feeling LBP will bomb in Japan but be very popular in Europe and in North America. From what I have read, the Japanese aren't very interested in social online gaming (not the only factor but sharing is a big part of LBP).
MS and the 360 are doing all they can over there. They deserve sales for their efforts.
I agree with Nathan F., he is very good at playing people with an attitude like Drake.
I don't know, a few good announcement but not a ton of them, and not really about the biggest franchises for the Wii. And then it's Japan and 2009? Feels more like throwing a small bone to a pack of rabid starving dogs rather than a buffet for loyal fans.
Sorry, not interested in the slightly upgraded PSP-3000 and not interested in a slightly upgraded DS. You guys let me know when you make the next real handheld gaming system, I'm talking real 3D graphics with dual analog controls (movement, camera). Until then, count me out.
Pretty good editorial, there are some truths in all the annoyances mentioned. Now if only game designers listened instead of letting their ego get in the way.
I liked the original Far Cry ... up until the end game boss fight. I didn't have the patience for it because it was so disproportionate to the rest of the game. If they don't make the same mistake in Far Cry 2, count me in.
I agree, if I were to generalize about this generation so far I would say that the strenghts are:
Wii : Marketing
PS3 : Hardware
360 : Software
The Wii has succeeded and continues to do so almost solely based off their marketing. It was either incredible genius from them, total luck, or a bit of both.
@1.3, if a parent gets a kid a 360 they would do them a great disservice, besides Viva Pinata what is there for them to play?
If by kid you mean teenage boy, then ok, they would be happy with a 360 arcade for $50 less.
Agreed, they don't need it. They just need to keep advertising, have a few sites\newspapers make up stories of Wii shortage this holiday season, and the soccer moms will rush to the stores.
I agree, I doubt very much this is real intent as they know if they send that to 3rd party, most of them being multi-platform now, that it would leak to the competition in a matter of minutes. Most likely, if real, it was sent out just as a poll to gage developer's feedback to a possible direction.
The more he talks the less respect I have for him. Really, he has nothing to gain from saying things like this. Each controller has its flaws, not to consider a console just because of that is kind of silly.
I agree. However RE5 looks like RE4, and that was not really a survivor horror game, more like a 3rd person shooter. It was really good don't get me wrong, just not a classical survival horror game anymore.
Looking forward to it. I like the last one and how they revived the franchise by combining some of the original elements with the latest current generation capabilities.
@3.1 honestly I cannot comment about Steam since I stopped PC gaming years ago and I make it a policy not to comment on things I don't know. My DRM experiences come from Microsoft, Sony, Apple, etc. and so far all of them have been annoying to some level or another.
Not surprising that they would tout DRM laced downloads as the solution to their problem... unfortunately that would be the start of the regular consumers' nightmares.
I buy all my games (never pirated) but go down the download-only route and people like me will either move exclusively to competitors that still use discs, start pirating, or stop playing. Your move.
Is that how the blue hedgehog moves so fast?
I guess the original Wii will command a premium now on Ebay\Craiglist...
I think it is just the angle and the fact that the desk edge cuts part of it. I would expect a slim version to be really slim, like 1/2 the size.
What is up with this surge of "news" posting lately, most of them trying to bash the PS3, its games, etc. It would be nice for news to relate actual recent events and stop with rumors and speculative guesses.
