This game wont be ruined however the next one may be dumbed down.
Watch what happened to Crysis, Dragon age. Do we really want that happening to this franchise as well?
Next gen consoles would have to be as big as some PCs today to match the power we enjoy on PC today. There are some reasons for this:
Heat- current GPUs put out alot of heat to generate the power they do. Putting such a gpu in a closed down casing like a console would cause a melt down. (hello rrod, ylod)
Power requirement- Consoles would have to start shipping with a real PSU like on PCs to support the power requirement current gpus need.
Please consoles have ruined many good rpgs, why would you want them to ruin another good franchise. Get it on PC, that way you get it cheaper, you dont pay a royalty to Microsoft or Sony and you support the developer directly by paying them more(since there is no middle man here).
@dangert12
Devs have to be retarded not to be able to take advantage of 6year old tech aka Ps3 or xbox 360.
Its obvious even most PS3 exclusives run in 720p if it did have any more juice those same exclusives would be running in 1080p easily. Not flaming the PS3 here 360 is pretty much in the same boat. Both are old.
Want to play next gen looking games it happened in 2007 when crysis was released. Ever since then multiplatform developme...
Its a buthurt PS3 fanboy, since they brag about great exclusives and really have none to show so far this year. None even close to games like witcher 2 anyways sure they are butt hurt.
Specially with games like BF3 being like exclusive for PC.
Sure PC only has 1 gen, I was refering the last 4-5 years.
Dragon age origins again at heart was a PC game, which is why it was so good, it was an amazing game as well. However i think i like witcher 2 more in comparison.
I wouldnt really call mass effect an RPG, its more of a shooter atleast with ME2 its become a shooter with dialogue, ME3 seems to be going even further in that direction.
PC platform imo has had the best of games this year....
We dont know how good skyrim will be until we actually see it first hand, till then Witcher 2 is the uncontested champ of rpgs this gen.
@sobek
Half life 2 is on the list. The reason why Half life 1 isnt on the list is because it was using the quake 2 engine, hence while it was a good looking game it didnt really jump the level of graphics.
Half life 2 on the other hand was the end all be all of graphics when it was released since it released with a completely new engine.
Shogun 2 and witcher 2 are the best looking games of 2011 so far.
However from a timeline of 1991 - 2011 the best looking games go like this:
Quake 2 1997
Unreal 1998
Quake 3 1999
Doom 3 2004
Farcy 2004
Half life 2 2004
Crysis 2007
Metro 2033 2010
Shogun 2 2011
Witcher 2 2011
Each of these games has represented the epitome of graphics in their respective tim...
lol to run 1080 dirt3 a 500usd pc would be enough and yea the game would be cheaper too.
saying 2000usd PC is deluded at best.
No crashes what so ever yet about 8 hours of game time so far.
Dont use PSN any more anyways, Steam ftw. Currently playing Witcher 2 simply amazing.
Not just about the graphics PC version on most dated hardware will be running beyond 60fps, plus for enthsiasts it could even be running on 3 screens. While being cheaper then either of the console versions.
Well crysis 1 was dx9 and it looked bloody amazing.
I think its about developers actually using the PC to its capabilities and not giving it console ports.
Any game out this year which is specifically made for PC looks amazing, Shogun 2, Witcher 2 so far being examples.
BF3 will be awesome too.
@below
True it was DX10 too, however it looked amazing in DX9 as well, better then any console port anywa...
Its a new engine give it time i am sure with patches and better drivers the game will run very well.
My friend who has a 5870 which can be outperformed by 200usd gpus of today is running the game in 1080p mostly high settings, the game looks amazing.
A few patches and i think the game will be playabe on most hardware.
Its funny but witcher 2 doesnt even have a huge development budget.
What happens with most console games, huge amounts of money is spent on advertisement and marketing, while development of the game itself is a smaller share of the budget.
This obviously leads to developers complaining about losses and small profits. Things are different with PC, witcher 2 only cost 8million usd to develop. Even if it sells 300,000units via online DD the developer probabl...
That wont do anything, dust gets clogged overtime, i personally clearn my PC from time to time. I can tell ya you will need to open the console apart get a duster to get to dust out no way its going out just by speeding up a fan.
Witcher 2 is freaking awesome definetly a strong goty contender.
@activision
We would love a 4-5hour campaign with major focus on MP /s
Does it ever occur to you that the same 3rd parties have no problem making games look and run better on PC hardware that is 3-4 years old (not cutting edge but 1-2 years newer then PS3).
Clearly its the PS3 thats the limitation not the devs.
