I see what you're saying, but to be fair that isn't RE4's fault. Shinji Mikami had a really good idea with that game. He wanted to focus on great gameplay on top of the existing Resident Evil formula. The peopl who took the mantle on 5 and 6 completely ignored everything that made a Resident Evil game Resident Evil. No dark atmosphere, no innovations, just co-op and uninteresting writing and characters. RE4 was fantastic and Mikami took all the goodness with him when he left Capco...
I disagree. RE4 was most certainly a real Resident Evil game. It had similar tank controls, it had biological experiments and weapons and guns, it had a Mercenaries mode and it Leon S. Freaking Kennedy. I like the old games but I like RE4 too. That doesn't make me hypocritical. That just means that I recognize RE4 as a great thing that was crapped on in RE5 and RE6.
But what if Facebook manages to make Oculus Rift cheaper? What if they can release it to the public for a more affordable price and create even more venues for VR usage? And who's to say Facebook will be the only one? Other companies might jump in, just like when tablets competed with iPhone and the iPad.
I mean, don't get me wrong. I'm not too fond of Facebook either, but for all we know they could be on the right track with VR. We won't know until it's actually out there. All the tablets people are using? That all stems from the initial success of the iPhone. Who's to say Facebook's approach to VR won't bring about many good things to come? ll the hate just seems way too preemptive.
I have a job, and it's still tough for me to afford a game or two each month. Most of my money goes toward home and insurance, sadly. But us gamers need to have fun, right? Right now I'm just saving up for hardware. I recently broke my saving streak for a $10 point code for PSN's flash sale, so that did not hurt me too much.
Yeah, that would seem like the best strategy. I'm considering asking a friend at my local Gamestop if I can put money down on a PS4 like a pre-order and be able to pay it off incrementally before I actually take it out of the store.
What? They offer plenty of games new and old, not to mention the sales you get.
Well said Neonridr. Straight up ripoff. :/
Dang, such a pretty Samus. Imagine how she'd look without the Varia suit! :P
The developer who ported Arkham City used Unreal Engine 3 on Wii U.
Back when Epic's Mark Rein laughed about Wii U and Unreal engine 4, everyone immediately assumed it meant Wii U was too weak to support it. Sure enough Rein said the following day that Wii U could run the engine but Epic was not doing any games for the system. No one seemed to notice that though. :/
@protocol
That does seem like the most logical thing. Nintendo's Wii U is struggling for sure, but that's led to people saying some ignorant things about the company without much rhyme or reason. People actually think Nintendo will go out of business because of Wii U's low sales. That's just... dumb.
Isn't that out of their control at this point? Third parties are not interested in Wii U. Nintendo can't really force developers to work on their console. Buying exclusivity probably won't do them much good. People will just complain like with Bayonetta 2.
@thehobbyist
I wholeheartedly agree. Sony still gives us Ratchet & Clank and Knack and both of those are mostly made for younger gamers. No one throws out that stupid argument for those games either. I love all games, cartoony ones and realistic ones. And both companies make both kinds of games.
Luffy, you beat me to the punch on that one! X and Bayonetta are going to be amazing regardless of how well they are marketed. If a gamer wants exclusive mature games, those are the ones to own on Wii U.
Well than I guess Driveclub and Need For Speed are vaporware as well. /s
I guess that means VR wasn't included as part of the beta testing? That's one part of the game I'm most interested in.
Better than never! This could be yet another anticipated game in development hell.
I think he already announced he has a hand in the latest Silent Hill game. So I wouldn't be surprised if this announcement pertained to that.
It's just something to keep an eye out for, I think. Aliens Colonial Marines was also marketed to look and play much better and more interestingly than the final product. I think this is more attributed to third party devs since first party cannot afford those kinds of mistakes, but the concern still stands.
