A price drop would probably be extra beneficial (not to mention I could potentially get me Wii U sooner). However, I think it would be smarter from a business standpoint to drop the price at the same time that Smash Bros. comes out to generate more hype and excitement. Maybe even make a Smash Bros. bundle with a cheaper SKU.
Certainly would be great for upcoming adopters (such as myself). I will be surprised if Wii U doesn't see a nice boost from this game.
A Mario Kart bundle that's actually marketed well would definitely boost sales.
The thing is would you rather they show you something that looks broken, incomplete and not fun or something that looks appealing? Nintendo has pretty lengthy development cycles and not too much can be done about that. That being said, Nintendo should be more open about information when it comes to their games. If they were, we wouldn't have had the dumb Cranky Kong fiasco.

Indeed they are! But the Wii U indie stuff also looks pretty awesome. A Hat in Time? Hex Heroes? Twisted Fusion? All headed to Wii U and they look fun as hell.

It's an HD console with a gamepad that you can play games on and an upcoming Mario Kart and Smash Bros. game. Of course it's worth $200. Why don't you just demand you get a high end PC for $100?
Thing is you can have both. But just because Nintendo games don't usually have them doesn't mean the games are bad. And besides, some of Nintendo's games have a lot of story. Kid Icarus Uprising, Metroid Prime 3, Xenoblade Chronicles, this author just hasn't played the right games.
Guessing which by the way only gets updated AFTER NPD puts out their numbers. We really should be ignoring new VGChartz numbers but for some reason we never do.

You sir deserve an applause. People constantly talking about sales just do that to stroke their own egos and put down others when their favorites don't sell well. Part of it was how people would constantly lie or exaggerate about what was wrong with the Wii U. Rumors about Wii U being weaker than generation seven consoles is a big one. Nintendo could have done more to help themselves, but this is the bed they made and now they have to lay in it. I'm optimistic that it can make a comeback though. Smash is a HUGE franchise for Nintendo.
^YES, this a million times. All three consoles will have great games you can only play on those consoles. Matter of fact there are some already. Titanfall for XB1, Second Son on PS4 and Mario Kart (along with a few others) on Wii U.
It's also worth noting that Mario Kart helped turn the 3DS around when it wasn't selling very well. This coupled with its big price drop drove up sales dramatically from what I remember.
