So there's a 100$ difference. For 100$ only, you get a player for next gen movie formats. And BRD is usefull for games, too, as stated by numerous devs.

Price was known since E3 2006. Adding HDMI on the 20GB model was waaay later than that. Did the price change ? Nope.

Using the EE+GS is just like running a game with a PS2. It just runs the same way. No upscaling, AA or whatever can be applied.
Removing the PS2 chips has always been part of the plan. They clearly said it many times. Now the problem is that they do it way too early, to cut the costs most probably. And they sound like BC isn't a major priority now.
That's the problem.
Now the ONLY positive point about this is that it will able some visual improveme...
Pricing has nothing to do with Sony.
The difference between US and EU price for the 360 and the Wii is exactly the same, around 30% more (but don't forget that our prices include VAT, not yours)
The delay wasn't a bad thing after all. Many glitches fixed, huge line up. But the BC thing is a complete rip off.

I think they should have announced this EE+GS removal BEFORE the line up details. Now people stay with a negative feeling about the EU launch.
And waiting launch day to communicate on the BC list isn't good either.
THe problem is that they put it in in the first place to get maximal BC. Because they weren't happy with the emulator.
But now, they're stripping it right now.
And the main concern for me is how it sounds "BC isn't a piority for us now." Sounds microsoftish if you ask me.
I've got a bunch of PS2 games, I plan to buy a PS3, I want most of my games to work on it. That's all.
I've tried several tennis games. VT has always been the best franchise out there.
Not the kind of game i personnaly buy tho, i just play em at friend's homes

Please explain how Bethesda managed to make a better looking (textures, draw distances, shaders wise), faster loading version of Oblivion on the PS3 ?
I mean, if the PS3 was really inferior, how the hell would they be able to do that ? Extra time wouldn't help if it was inferior.

Seriously, except differences in color settings, you can't distinguish both versions from each other. And it's a matter of settings. The general tone of the colours in the videos aren't the same. This has nothing to do with textures or whatever. It's an overall look. Just like if you turned contrast and colors a bit.

People that think that color, contrast and lighting have something to do with "hardware power" seriously eed some medical assistance.
What's funny here, is that even people that usually prefer the 360 don't even agree "no differences except colors" "slightly more contrasted" "bacjgrounds sharper" "players models better".
