That is horseshit.
@coolbeans
The awards show is in early December. Media outlets need time to vote and the show's production needs time for category implementation for the nominated games. Why do you think its stupid? Any game that releases after the deadline can be eligible in the VGA Awards the following year. Seems fair to me.
The cutoff is mid November. It's always been that way.
Quite the opposite. I think it's been a "good" year for gaming but very little great. Besides Rebirth and Astrobot, I haven't played much that has impressed me to thinking it's a GOTY contender. Maybe Warhammer, maybe Stellar Blade, maybe Wukong (though I consider those "good" not great) I know many here will say Metaphor but I personally don't get the hype. Atlus games are not my thing. I played the demo and I feel like 80% of my time was spent readin...
Imo it's FF7 Rebirth's to lose.
Exactly. They are so delusional. The only game they can lay claim to PS fans giving a crap about is COD. And that's just because PS fans already cared about it before MS bought it.
Seek help.
It's not copium (whatever the hell that means), it's fact. But keep defending their terrible tactics.
SOME Switch games are a step up from 3DS games, but a LOT of them could've easily ran on 3DS at lower resolution like Luigis Mansion 3, Metroid Dread, Animal Crossing, the Paper Mario's, the Kirby games, Mario Tennis/Golf, the 2 top down Zelda games, Mario Maker, etc, etc.
I don't mind Nintendo making "AA" type games, but they need to charge a fair "AA" price for them and stop passing them off as AAA 60.00 and 70.00 games! Of course they ne...
"But these glorified 3DS games are more fun..."
COMPLETELY subjective! I think Nintendo games by and large are overrated.
Translation - "We will mitigate development costs by continuing to release glorified 3DS level budget games, charging AAA game prices for them, and never put them on sale".
Exactly. My biggest complaint with Nintendo is most of their games lack ambition. Imagine a Luigi's Mansion game set inside a mansion with the scale and scope of the Hogwarts Legacy castle! Or what about a Star Fox game with the freedom to explore multiple planets/galaxies like in No Man's Sky. I get tired of Nintendo making games on rinky dink hardware with rinky dink budgets. For every Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, there's 10 glorified 3DS games that Nintendo charges AAA price...
No they don't all run "just fine". It's 2024. 60fps should be standard now. There are still far too many 30fps Nintendo games.
Release a great game at a reasonable price and it sells. Wow what a concept! :)
I would argue it's God of War.
But why would they do that when they can sell you Switch 2 specific versions of those games all over again! 😉
@ZeekQuattro
Name one thing I said that was inaccurate. I'm not making excuses and frankly, I really don't care. But it's the truth. The Switch Lite is not a home console.
But PS2 didn't have 2 skus serving 2 markets. It was one sku. The Switch Lite is ONLY a handheld that cannot be docked, so it should not be categorized as a console, but a handheld.
@RpgSama. Exactly. Plus, that total includes the Switch Lite sales which is NOT a console at all! You cannot dock it and play it on your TV, so it should not be classified as a console. Take the Switch Lite out of the equation and that total looks a lot different.
Because we need to make room for more "important" categories like Most Anticipated Game and Best Content Creator.
