And Tim Sweeny himself has already debunked that as they were only streaming the video of the demo runing on the ps5 on a laptop.
Which was debunked by Tim Sweeny himself. It came from a showcase done in China where they showed the video streaming on a laptop.
Whether the demo is only possible on ps5 or not is not really the point either. The demo was specifically developed for the ps5 dev kit. It is likely that at the moment there doesn't even exist a version of the demo for PCs. So in that case the demo is only possible on the ps5. However Tim Sweeny has also been clear about the fact that UE5 ...
Well that is exactly what the developers are saying and have been saying for years.
Storage and i/o throughput has been an issue with developing games for decades. The increasing power of graphics cards is in a way been done to compensate for this. Which is f. ex. why we have seen such a push for increased memory. So the GPU can keep more assets in memory without having to load it from storage.
It was an issue when we moved from Floppy's to CDs it wa...
@cigi
Well that is just you lying.

Here. Read it and weep.
@Shaggy2303
I am not saying that will be the case no. But the scenario you put out is not impossible either. I am saying Sony is supporting their current gen Hardware now. That is good for the consumers that have purchased the Ps4. More so than Microsoft has the last couple of years.
Because of backwards compatibility. Any game that launches on the ps4 from now until the market starts leaning into the next generation fully will effectively be cross gen g...
I have not argued that no marketing is brilliant. And there is no case for saying Sony has been doing no marketing. Nor am I saying that what marketing Sony has been doing is brilliant.
I am just questioning the logic as to why one would claim they are snagged. You say because they are releasing info in piece meal format. That is not actually presenting a logic. It is akin to saying they are snagged because they are not doing what Microsoft is doing. Which they never have....
I am saying it is not clear. Which is why I am asking.
I am not being defensive. You made a definite statement and I am asking for justification. Everyone is having problems due to the ongoing pandemic. I am not doubting that. But there is also no indication that Sony is holding back anything.
So how is it clear to you that they have issues? Please present the logic that explains this, because I am not seeing it.
Btw. When you say snag...
@Profchaos
That sounds like a very loosely justified conspiracy theory to me.
Red Dead Redemption was also developed in a joined effort by San Diego and Rockstar North.
San Diego also worked on GTA V with Rockstar North.
More likely is that these games have gotten so complicated to develop that they are forced to bring in the other teams to help finish the product.
The rocky history between Rock...
Well that is more a marketing challenge based on a misunderstanding. As Bully is not a game about a bully, but really a game about someone being bullied and finding the strength to overcome. In that sense it is very political correct.
Yea I am romanticizing it a bit. But Jimmy is technically the outcast kid that everyone picks on until he finds an in with every group becoming the hero of his community per say. In a way it is a bullied kids fantasy.
How were they clearly snagged? They are following the same schedule as they did for the ps4. If anything they have been more forthcoming than they were then.
How on earth is this some kind of indication that they are in trouble?
I have seen this logic flaunted around a lot lately. It is fallacious. It is not the same thing being argued.
People are praising sony for releasing 2 big hitters during the swan song of the ps4. That is them showing support for the system despite a generational shift looming on the horizon.
People are upset at microsoft for mandating no exclusives for the first 1-2 years of the series x lifetime from first party studios. Because it is effectively delay...
It is incredibly unlikely that Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch has not made sure that their titles are effectively functioning under the ps5 "boost" mode. These are developers with the most direct access to the engineers at sony and likely some of the first developers to receive dev kits.
It is almost guaranteed that these two titles will be some of those most effeciently using the ps5 "boost" mode. Making the selling of a ps5 version of said games pretty p...
@RangerWalk267
That is false. That was not what was stated and it has been clarified further since then multiple times. The ps5 features a cpu that can clock down to ps4 and ps4 pro levels in modes to ensure backwards compatibility with most Ps4 games. There can always be outliers, but the 100 or so games that has been tested was in relation to ps5 enhanced backwards compatibility.
In effect. They have tested how backwards compatibility with a ps5 "...
Slow news day I guess.
It annoys me too, but it has become a commonly used expression. Which is why thesauruses reflect this. And while this is annoying when the language gets muddied like that. It is true that definitions are based on how we use things, not the other way around.
No I am not wrong. What I said was factual. Games periodically asks you to upgrade your gpu to play their games. If you believe that is not the case then please explain to me how a game that was released in 2019 has the current generation GPU as a minimum requirement. Like how Metro Exodus has a minimum requirement of a GTX 1050.
I mean I we are currently in a weird spot. Late in a console generation and with bitcoin farming taking over the GPU market. Effectively slowing ...
People are arguing that this might not be entirely feasible. Especially due to the potential design benefits something like the SSD is bringing to the table.
People are talking about the SSD like it will only affect loading, but one thing that it is guaranteed to have a big impact on is level design. So if a developer is developing a game that has to be possible on a system that does not enable them to design the levels a certain way, then they wont design the levels that ...
Well one could argue that if one actor is holding their following back it will also hold the rest of the industry back. If a big portion of the marketshare is less likely to upgrade, then third party is also less likely to go exclusive to next gen.
The market is all relative. Nothing exists in a vacuum. Early adopters are important for enabling the market to actually move on. If one actor is deciding to delay adoption of the technology then it will delay the support said t...
Irrelevant.
The fact that the coronavirus is likely to delay games doesn't affect the argument being made as it is likely to delay games across the board.
Which means even if it potential next gen launch games get delayed past the launch of next game. Any game that is supposed to come out 2 years after next gen is likely to be delayed as well. Games generally take a lot more than 2 years to develop.
@RazzerRedux
Your correction on the quote is correct. Your statement that it has been disproven is not correct. Tim Sweeny has further specified that he is talking about the entire architecture of the systems I/O solution and how that is far superiour to any pc solution on the market. He is not talking about strictly SSD speeds. I am pretty sure he knows more about the internal workings of loading graphics into the gpu than you.
