I haven't touched shadow yet, so I cant comment to whether this design feature has been abused or not. However what you are describing is the tested and true metriodvania style of designing worlds. Something which both the reboot and rise heavily featured. Especially rise. So I am a bit confused as to what the reason you didn't like it really was.
Please elaborate
Well it can be played through bc, but cdproject have officially stated that any patch or version that will make full use of the hardware will have to wait. So if one wants ro play it on series x or Ps5 with all the bells and whistles will have to wait.
I havent touched last of us 2 yet, but so far I have found Ghost of Tsushima to be a big disapointment.
It was my most anticipated game of the year, and it is a technical marvel. So beautiful, so stable, and the loading is so Quick I am second guessing the need for an SSD in the Ps5, not really but that loading is insane.
However it is one of the most paint by numbers open world game I have ever played. And I was even kind of expecting it to be that as t...
Most TVs have this functionality now. Its actually the ps4 that is lacking the proper protocolls to ask for game mode. Which i guess this confirms will change with the Ps5. Which was to be expected.
Sony oleds have high input lag still though. Might be changing next year if they are pushing low input lag with their leds now.
Yea. Sony is best on image processing, but it is entirely ineffective When it comes to gaming. Any processing will increase input lag by a major factor, which is why TVs come with game moses these days. And game modes basically turns off most, if not all, image processing.
Ultimately anything can be boiled down to that. Everything is a pointless exercise.
Loot is a feature because it modifies the gameplay loop. Just because you dont like it does not mean it does not exist.
I am not a fan of turn based rpgs. I ultimately think it slows down gameplay to the degree that it takes me out of the experience. But that does not mean i would ever claim it is not a feature.
Come on. Loot and how it is implemented h...
Not that I think Godfall is anything to look out for... But yes it is.
It's an online game. It can live or die by it's marketing.
If the game is good, but the marketing is bad, it can still die. Which would be sad for people that enjoy the game.
You seem to be taking a very black and white view on this. Which seems ideologically based. No one is saying that they want the game to receive more bad marketing I. e. Lies. As that rarely helps give a service game long legs.
More gameplay shown is also...
Ok. So this is literally being mentioned every time someone talks about the potential of no loading screens in the next generation. So while I appreciate the developer comment. I find the premise of the article, or at the very least the headline. Preposterous. Yea sure, there are probably someone that might not have considered this, but I am pretty sure most people know that this is a concern some people have.
I personally think this is a non issue. I don't believe any...
Well I was curious to see if this was a balanced take on this, but the premise of the article is based on a lie. The author claims that his earlier article that talked about his personal female role models got so many bad comments on n4g that it was hard to read. I followed the link and looked at the comments. They were all respectful and most agreed that he had pulled forth people that they also considered good examples of female role models.
The few that did disagree, di...
Well he was talking specifically about his studios troubles with developing their own title. Which is that they don't have enough manpower and not a big enough budget to take full advantage of some of these more complex next gen features. He was making a case for his own game. All well and good stuff. He was not actually trying to fan any console war flames.
Well one could easily argue that it never worked, but it seems futile to claim that the standard has somehow changed. The morality system in games that still feature them are still as black and white as ever. The only games that are more mature when it comes to morality are the ones that don't actually have a system as that is counter-intuitive to the nuance of morality as a core concept. I. e. The witcher games ask the players some of the most morality pondering questions, but it does no...
The first one is ok. It severly underdelivered on its e3 demo though and it rightly got criticized heavily for it.
The second one is better and Worse depending on what you value. I. E. The Main character from 1 got criticized for being unlikable. So they made the Main character in the second one 2 dimensional.
The second game has perhaps the best population ai of any open world game to date. Especially because the game gives you many tools to interact wit...
And no one here is talking about a ban. The creators themselves seems to be ok with changing it so they changed it.
Why pretend like this is a free speech issue? They are not being silenced. They chose to change it, and that is their prerogative. If anything the outrage to the fact that they were willing to change it seems more akin to cancel culture than the opposite.
And you are still entirely missing the point.
Forcing you to make choices is often good. Giving consequence and all that. The problem I am describing is that the game heavily encourages you to make one choice over another. Which is to play in soulform because the the reward is greater and the risk is less. World Tendency therefore does not actually give you as a player a meaningful consequence to your choice. Not to mention that world tendency is not a choice at all. Had i...
The problem was also that You lost out on a lot of content like quests and rewards that You would otherwise have been able to experience. And you always had the option to turn the tendency dark once you had done those things, but good luck turning it back after a certain point.
Playing in ghost/soulform is not cheesing the game. But it makes the most sense because the reward does not outweigh the risk.
If you found it fun to play the game in another way then that is fine, that is your perogative. Some People like to play soulslikes with No armor and No hit builds too. Preferance is not what is being talked about here. What I am talking about is how there were systems that avtively worked against eacother and that is objectively not Great design.
...
World tendency was a Great concept, but yes it was terribly implemented. Mostly because it encouraged players to not engage with many of the games systems. Which f. Ex. Why we saw a majority of players play in Ghost form for their entire playthrough.
I initially loved the haikus. However, as with all the other POIs in the game, they soon became repetitive and boring to me. I think the idea was great, but it would have been much better had it been more than window dressing.
I. E. Your first line choice is often the difference between making a haiku that feels right/makes sense or 3 random lines that feels pointless and only makes sense in the most pretentious of ways. If every line choice unlocked 3 different lines that ...
