Maybe it's not as well known and verifiable as you thought.
To be fair. i 100% agree. It has always been the case for me and all my friends as long as I have been using PSN, since it's inception, but I don't think that makes for a substantial pool to make any statistical determination.
I, just as you probably did, assumed it was a well known verifiable fact. I don't get the hate either. But maybe people are having different experiences. ...
I think you are entirely missing the argument I was trying to make.
You, and a lot of other people, want Half-Life 3. However you would potentially not have wanted half-life 3 if the culture within valve was different. Because that would mean the games, would be entirely different.
One could easily argue that one of the major reasons that Half-Life 1 and Half-Life 2 plus it's DLC episodes were that good was because the culture within valve was they ...
Its not that simple. It becomes a chicken or the egg situation. One could say that the open creative culture that valve is working with should have been put to the side so they could apease the fans, but at the same time. That open culture is what created the master pieces in the first place. In effect it would be kind of oxymoronic to demand valve change their culture to make another half-life When that culture, in itself was part og what made half-life what it is.
Really? So better datamanagement never ended in better visuals. I wonder how you can justify games becoming better looking within a generation then?
It is a fact that even on the all powerful pc the biggest bottlenecks are often based on datatransferrates.
How data is managed will affect both visual fidelity and performance.
This argument reminds of that time assassin's creed launched on pc and having a sdd would let you ride you...
There is some weird contradictions in this article. First it claims blizzard should have done more to the story of warcraft 3 (i. E. A retcon). Then it calls out warcraft 3 reforged for not remaking warcraft 3, but retconing it.
They are in reference to different aspects of the game sure, but the logic applied is entirely contradictionary.
What is this.. I would not call it an article. Not even worth being called an editorial.
If you are going to make an opinion-piece, at least try to make it interesting to read.
Calling out a Company for only making games for a console now that it is showing potential to be proffitable is Just childish. And pretending like this is the worst thing EA has done is beyond hyperbolic.
Bungie has not worked on halo for quite a while.
Which would have made sense in itself, but rockstar allocated most of their resources to finish of red dead redemotion 2 between that. Gta 6 was probably only in pre-production during the release of rdr, but that means full resources have only been working on gta 6 for a little over 1 year.
Who in their right mind really thought that gta 6 would be here any sooner than that?
I know People want it, me as well. But rockstar is famous for taking forever. The game might be anounced at that point and then take 1-2 years to release. Wont be holding my breath, it would be a Nice suprise though.
It is possible that they did try to Block gears of war, but was denied.
I would think that it is common practice to have lawyers that Just do this on a regular basis. I am No trademark lawyer, but I am pretty sure I have read that failure to protect your own trademark can give a precedent against you in future cases.
So even if an attempt to Block gears of war failed it could be worth it. It is also possible that this has to do with specifically where th...
I read the story
I don't know. I know chinese companies have a reputation for plagarism, but equating lord of war with god of war seems a bit thin. What happens then when Sony wants to make a God of War movie. Will they be sued by lionsgate because it might confuse people about when they own a movie called Lord of War?
I mean. This is a trademark filing and it makes sense to try to block a filing to protect your trademark. Simply because failure to do so will make it harder to do it in ...
Yes. Lets keep perpetuating this very undocumented rumor with very misleading articles and titles. And here I thought journalism was supposed to be about keeping the public informed, not dousing them in badly veiled propaganda.
I guess the joke is on me.
@hulk_bash1987
How do you know that? Publishing rights is not the same as ip-ownership. It is very possible that David Cage and Hideo Kojima both negotiated a publishing deal that let them retain ownership of the IP.
Hideo, with his weight, could probably demand anything to get sony on board, and David Cage is famous for doing a lot with very small budgets. Meaning it is easier to negotiate the terms.
This article says nothing at all. Some anecdotes about crunch and how it is potentially a bad thing. The title seems quite misleading. Nowhere is there any exploration of what the potential aftermath of the delay might be. All it does is mention that the delay might have some kind of aftermath.
I get it, I get it. You need to find excuses to write articles to generate clicks on your site so you can generate some ad revenue. But this is so pointless.
Well what everyone that makes that argument fails to understand is that some games simply don't work without this so called difficulty.
Soulsborne in particular. The whole game is designed around it. Everything from how you progress to the lore. It is not there to be machoistic, it is there to create a certain experience.
Now that is writing. And just as my hope that there ever could be any real journalism in games media was dwindling away. Recommended read to everyone. The piece itself is interesting and entertaining. But at the very least this should be reference for People as to how good a gaming related article can be.
Not a fair comparison. The witcher 3 on switch came out a long time after the other releases and required a lot of optimization work.
The point is that it has been common practice to focus development around the lowest specced system before scaling up. Because that has and always will be easier.
With that being said. I dont really follow the hyperbolic thought that this will be such a dealbreaker.

How self-contradicting is it possible to be?
You do realize that hairworks, despite using physics to generate the effect, is 100% cosmetic. I. E. A graphics freature?
He is right. All the funny meme-like comments here are good fun and all. The point is that When gow 2018 came out People started talking about kratos as he was a New character. As if the old games made him out to be some kind of 2-dimensial mass murderer, and they are wrong. They Just want an excuse to explain why they suddenly thought Kratos was a masterfully created character. But all the themes of his character in gow 2018 was based on the themes already present during his character arc th...
