There is a big difference between a pointless enemy model in a cartoonish fantasy game and a historical retelling and/or setting.
And people are complaining that they are willing to change them?
Come on. Whether you are offended by them or not is rather irrelevant. The are very similar to designs that are deemed to have racist connotations by modern standards. The way they currently are looking does not seem to be crucial to the games design so they are changing them. Good. They have no need to make a simple enemy design be the mountain they die on. Especially not in the current climate.

While I dont agree with BrainSyphoned's political leanings. I take issue with calling antifa anti-fascist. They are only that in name and regulary use fascist methodology to further their agenda.
Antifa reminds me of some friends I had way back which considered themselves anti-nazis and would akin their hair themselves and seek out oppertunitues to have physical alterations with actual nazis.
They had No idea what they were fighting for. They just wan...
Sucker punch have themselves said they took inspiration from Botw for the visual language of the game.
So while I personally dont really see it, it is there and people are probably right to get that feeling.
Gameplay is not looking anything like it though. But neither do the article claim that it does.
This article seems to equate art direction with stylized. Because Ghost of Tsushima is dripping with art direction, claiming otherwise seems to be more than stretching for straws.
Botw is stylized, comic book-ish if you like. Nintendo's staple of using stylized comic-esque graphics to appeal to a broad range of ages is rightly celebrated. But to claim that Ghost of Tsushima looks worse for not doing the same? Calling it a lack of art direction for mot trying to copy Bot...
Yea lets fire the man that was one of the more inoportant pieces to the success of uncharted 1, 2, 4 and The Last of Us. Just because some people feel challenged by his story direction in Last of Us 2. That would be like firing your superbawl winning quarterback for saying something conteoversial during an interview.
He has been part of the creative leading team that has made some of the most successful and celebrated properties in the last 2 generations. But lets pretend ...
They are not really compareably
Gamepass as it stands is playstation plus plus. Or xbox live gold plus. It is not a streaming service.
Xcloud integration might make the comparison a bit more logical. But until we see that happening and how that will affect the business model it feels wrong to compare the two.
Gamepass seems much more like EA Access to me.
Another one of these. There are no objective good kings and/or leaders in History. History is written by the victors. And you have to consider that Alfred was anointed as a holy king by the roman pope. History at the time has also been heavily skewed towards the Christians being good and pagans being bad because of the dominance of Christianity throughout the middle ages and after.
History is never that simple. Is there really any doubt in your mind that the Vikings viewed ...
The whole point of lumen is that it will be faster to work with than traditional baked lightning solutions and that it is less resource intensive than hw raytracing.
How about the fact that players did not have as much reason to play it as they had never played the original.
Its harder to market a sequel on the success of the original When players have no relation to the original in the first place.
I am a little bit curious as to what aspects of Breath of the Wild you think other games took inspiration from?
A bottleneck has traditionally been used to describe when one component in the computers architecture is holding back the potential of another. This happens on most games.
F. ex. if a game is using a lot of physics simulations. They have been traditionally bottlenecked by the CPU. In effect meaning that despite the graphics card is able to handle more frames per second. The game wont let it because the CPU is lagging behind.
This differs from game to gam...
Well one issue is that PCs might require an architectural change on a level that we have not seen in a while. This is what Sweeny is hoping the component makers will follow with.
Better GPUs and Better CPUs wont address the bottleneck that he is discussing at all. It has to do with how assets is moved from storage to the power. And as it stands PCs don't do it in the way that the PS5 will be doing it.
So we are talking new chipsets and bridges that ...
It is not compatible with the Xbox Series X because it was developed for the Ps5. It probably wont even run properly on a high en pc. Not because a high end pc is lacking in power directly, but because the demo was specifically developed for the ps5.
It is specifically developed to use the API of the ps5. Stuff like that is not interchangeable without work being put into to actually develop it for different apis like DirectX or something similar.
Now wh...
Microsoft does not have an engine to show off.
This tech demo is meant to show off the integration of new tools. Not really hardware. They choose to develop this tech demo on the PS5. Perhaps because it is more likely to be the more popular console going into the next generation. Or perhaps as Sweeny says, because the PS5 is leveraging the technology that he they find the most impressive and/or useful for pushing technology in the coming years.
As a pc gamer you should know your history.
Storage and I/O has always been one of the biggest bottlenecks for game development. Always. Why do you think we are installing games onto hard drives these days? We did not use to do that. To be fair, they have been doing this on PC a lot longer than on consoles. But the reason remains the same. The I/O of discs cannot keep up with the technology of modern games. And as we go further HDDs wont be able to keep up with SSDs And bo...
@Sciurus_vulgaris
And I agree that it was perhaps a failure in presentation when it comes to the character model. They should probably have chosen a different design. But I assure you there are some very next level details here.
Skin textures feature heavy use of subsurface scattering. Which can be seen at several points in the demo. Probably most visible when she walks through the tight hole in the rock wall. Watch the light coming through her fingers a...
Not really. The character had next level animations and skin textures. But her design did not stand out and was very stylized which I would argue is why it felt less impressive as the world was so realistic.
It was a video of the ps5 demo running on a laptop. Not the demo itself.
There were several dupe-methods so I assume he is referencing one of those. As it is what made the plat possible to do within 1 runthrough.
I doubt they will keep any of those though.
