His exaggerations are intentional, and he raises a valid point. As long as there is no other alternative to backing up saves, charging for it is just ridiculous, even if it’s just $20. I guarantee most Switch owners that pay the $20 will do so primarily for the ability to back up saves, and Nintendo knows this, which is why they don’t offer another option. To be honest, the $20 for online and cloud saves is very reasonable, but they need to enable saving locally. Otherwise it just seems as if...
Nothing wrong with sequels. May be an issue if that's the only thing offered. That isn't an issue for Sony fans though.
$400 console vs $1000 PC, probably more (at the time Ryse came out to run it in these settings). Which speaks to the benefits of having an optimized platform and talented developers.
Is fastest selling game really saying much when you look at their games? I mean you either have games that were made on the n64 at a time when games didn’t sell as well relative to today (not even factoring in the n64 install base); Or early 360 titles with a tiny install base. Not saying their games are bad quality wise, but they did not sell too good by today’s standards. So fastest selling doesn’t seem like a big deal when you look at their library of games. Where are the actual numbers th...
@ observer
How are you gauging success? Most of what you listed hasn't translated into boosting console and software sales (at least not by any substantial amount). And most importantly, it hasn't translated into boosting games out put. Their reputation has benefited greatly, I'll give you that, but then I can't play their reputation on my Xbox One. So again, how are you measuring success? Just curious.
Not lazy, but rather intentional. Black Ops 4 with no single player, MW2 remastered with no multiplayer. It's obvious they don't want either game cannibalizing either games sales. So what's the best way to ensure that, put opposite components in each game. Remember the stunt they pulled with Infinite Warefare and CoD4 being bundled together. They knew people wanted CoD4 so they made Inifite Warefare a mandatory purchase, essentially coercing gamers to spend $90. They don't wan...
Maybe for the exclusive games not available on PC?
Hopefully
The headline makes it seems like PSNow and Gamepass are different types of subscription services. Both give you access to a specific library of games for a set price per subscription period. Gamepass as a service isn't anything new. The difference is that you can download the games rather than stream. Both have their pros and cons. The better question would have been should PSNow allow you to play games like Gampass (as in download the titles). Would be great if there were both option
I wouldn’t really call the week competitive. I mean, other than the top 3 games, the rest of the list were either non AAA games, not well known, a remastered game, and games that launched a while ago. On top of that, Ni No Kuni and A Way Out launched the 23rd, while Sea of Thieves launched the 20th (numbers were from the 19th to the 25th, that’s 3 extra days of sales which is like half the week). Without actual numbers the list is rather pointless. It’s wiser to wait until actual sales figure...
And now there is no reason to grind at all since there are no rewards or progression. In fact, there isn't a point to do anything except link up with a few friends to goof around on a ship and pass time with no purpose at all.

Sounds like a time I was playing battlefield 4 and got dropped near a bunch of enemies, captured their flag, and retreated without dying. Seems like an experience that can be had in nearly any MP game, not very special, and certainly not worth the asking price of $60.
I'm not denying people can't have fun with the game, but how many times can we recreate these experiences before they get old.
You keep comparing this to Minecraft. Why? Minecraft is successful because you can actually create things. Not to mention is only $20. The only thing people can create in SoT are "stories" or experiences. I would love an example of one of these "stories" that someone had that can show they are anything but mundane.

Whatever Sony is currently doing in the gaming division is making them good profits, they are selling a shit load of consoles and software, and have a good public perception. Microsoft, on the other hand, not so much. So why would Sony want to emulate Microsoft's gaming business model. Let that sink in.
It seems SoT is a sailing simulator, since that’s the only thing people have fun doing... and even that will get old. Literally every other aspect of the game is getting trashed. The main praise is getting on a ship with friend and “creating your own stories” (whatever that means). Seems to me people are expected to pay $60 or $10 per month to link up with some friends on a boat and goof around for hours, way to create stories. I have a feeling things are only going to get worse for the game ...
I bet 95% of those unique users are playing the game via Gamepass free trial. Which means almost a million unique gamers demo the game.
@timotim
You have no idea what you are talking about. PSNow has a bunch of PS4 games available on it. The problem with PSNow is not the game library (it has more games and better games available than current Gamepass), it's that it's strictly streaming and data caps and speeds limit bandwidth.
The problem I see with Gamepass is it's library. Nobody is going to buy an Xbox One just to sub to Gamepass to play a bunch of old games and indie game...
Zelda is not a story and character driven game? Seriously, a RPG isn't story or character driven? Let me guess, since it's a Nintendo developed game it's driven soley but fun and charm? You can scale mountains and glide down, you can make food and set grass on fire, the world is the main character, NPCs are charming... 10/10 (literal talking points of the Zelda IGN review). It's almost insulting (to Nintendo) how low the standard of their games are in regards to reviews.

Didnt Kratos get emotional when he accidentally killed Athena in GoW2? So why doesn't it make sense that he showed emotion in GoW 3 towards Pandora?
GoW 3 obviously has a tone of redemption for Kratos for what he did to his daughter, so it's obvious that he would feel some connection to a girl that reminds him of his daughter, as he searches for redemption while also trying to carry out revenge. He chose revenge rather than redemption by...

Obviously you can’t back up files from a bricked console or to a bad drive, it’s just absurd to even mention that. What you CAN do, however, is back up files to an external HDD or USB sticks as many times as you want (you can have all your saves on multiple USB sticks at no cost) that way if your console bricks, your saves are good. Or if one flash drive goes bad, you have another (they are dirt cheap and most people probably have a hunch lying around).
