What resolution is the XBOX running Spider-Man? Oh wait...
On a more serious note, Forza is a closed circuit racer which is why the XBOX can run fit at 4K60. This is evident by the other AAA games shown running 4K checkerboard at 30 frames. Seems the XBOX is just as underpowered as the PS4 Pro by your standards.
I would like to ask Septic and Moldy, or any other supporter of cross play a question. Since PSN and XBL are different platforms, its safe to assume party chat and the like will not be possible, meaning you wont be able to manually link up and communicate with people friends other platforms. So, with that said, whats the point of cross play? Legit question. If matchmaking randomly puts tou with a bunch of players, what difference does it make what platform they are on? Whats the benefits? Mor...
I wonder if Septic and Moldy commented in the article about Phil Spencer and the uncertainty of single player games, being as they were so quick to comment on another one of these articles. It would seem a lack of single player games would have a much larger impact than the lack of cross play between a few games.
On topic:
I find it funny people try to use this to denounce the "for the players" mantra when Sony secures a bunch of games, all diff...

He said Xbox has been a failure FOR Xbox gamers, not because. He is not placing the blame on the gamers, he is stating some of them are feeling dissappointed. I am one of them l. I bought an Xbox One a few years back for Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, Scalebound, cuphead, and a promise of great exclsuives (this was before the Win10 play anywhere announcement). I liked SSO, dissappointed in QB, wont get to play scalebound, and am still looking forward to cuphead. ...
I love how some Xbox fanboys ridicule Sony for the lack of cross play, calling it anti consumer, blowing it out of proportion, not understanding the business and politics behind it.
But when Phil Spencer mentions the uncertainty of single player games, they understand the business and politics behind it. They say that it doesn't make business sense to support something that may not bring in the revenue stream the company wants. Really?
So backwards co...

PS1 games are CD, a CD drive is necessary.
PS2 games are DVDs, a DVD drive is necessary.
PS3 games are blu rays, a blu ray drive is necessary.
PS4 games are not 4k blu rays, a 4k blu ray drive is not necessary. They are installed from standard blu ray discs, a standard blu ray drive is necessary.
It just so happened that last generations the games media and movie media matched. It currently doesnt match because 4k games ...

They probably make a standalone player for people that want to watch movies. Just like they probably left it out of the PS4 PRO so they didn't have to pass that cost to the majority of people that don't want to pay extra for something they don't need.
Why should every PS4 gamer pay for something that probably less than 10% would actually use on a consistent basis.

Halo on Xbox
Halo Anniversary on Xbox 360
Halo in TMCC on Xbox One
Microsoft beat them to it, are they anti consumer too? Is Halo apart of BC?
Player unknown battleground is a timed exclusive. In other words, one console will be able to play BOTH games you mentioned. Take a guess which one.
Microsoft replayed games announced in 2014, 2015, and 2016; and a bunch of indie games labeled "console launch exclusive" that are coming to PS4. They did not show any exclusive AAA heavy hitters (aside from the clockwork announcement of Forza 7), let that sink in, an E3 without any exclusive AAA gameplay trailers. In short, Microsoft did not win E3.
@ williamsheridan
Forza 7 - everyone expected the announcement of an annualized series
Sea of Thieves - shown in 2015
State of Decay 2 - shown in 2016
Crackdown 3 - shown in 2014
Cup head - showed in 2014
Ori - only new announcement for MS published title
Microsoft showed the same exclusives as well, but Sonys were AAA heavy hitters at least.
Most of Microsoft exclusives are timed exclusive indie games...
@ moldy
Most of Microsofts E3 conference was full of launch exclusives AKA timed exclusives. Which means the are withholding those games from PS4 gamers for a designated amount of time. Do you think that's anti consumer of them? Shall we check your post history to see how many times you peeked into E3 articles and complained about Microsoft withholding those games from gamers.
That's because they made the Kinect mandatory and passed the cost to the consumer, which the majority didn't see as beneficial to the core gaming experience. And they are at it again with the UHD blu ray drive, passing the cost to the consumer, and I reckon it won't have any benefits to the core gaming experience either.
It's a shame they couldn't throw in some more AAA exclusive games as well to set themselves apart.
But to your point... Forza was running on a PC, Anthem was running on an Xbox One X and looked amazing (but they said they are targeting native 4K, developers don't always hit their targets), and Assassins Creed I'm not sure about. The other games didn't look very demanding graphically (most of them were indie games), so being native 4K isn't saying muc...
Personally I would welcome cross platform play, but I do understand the logic for Sony not actively pursuing it. Every company struggles with what's best for the consumers and the company, and there is not a single company that is completely customer focused. There are always some aspects that will be considered anti consumer. There is a balance. In my opinion Sony has done a good job in being customer focused where it counts primarily, and that's providing the best place to play game...
@ eatcrow
The BC support has been great. But he stated he can buy an Xbox One X and play all Xbox games from all Xbox consoles. I reckon you understand the meaning of ALL. What facts and historical context is he using to state he can play ALL Xbox games from EVERY Xbox console? At E3 2017 Phil Spencer said there are 385 BC titles (that's out of 1200+ Xbox 360 games). So I ask again, what facts support he can play every Xbox game from every Xbox console?
What do you mean all games of every Xbox console? Backwards compatibility supports less than 50% of the Xbox 360 catalog, and only one Xbox game was mentioned. That's a far stretch from ALL games. C'mon, use your head.
I believe Ashen said "console launch exclusive", so it could be a timed exclusive.
I also like the fact that you explicitly mention Spider-Man being third party and dont mention any Microsoft games being third party (you insinuate it but don't explicitly say it).
You also claim Sonys E3 as a recap of last years E3, fair enough. But why not say the same for Microsofts E3? With the exception of Ori, all of their exlusives were previously annou...
I prefer the moment when you realize that Microsoft only announced like three AAA games, two of which are coming to the PS4... along with the other 98% of the games they showed. Microsoft basically had the privilege of announcing a bunch of games that will appear on the PS4.
Nintendo hasn't been the lifeblood of the industry since 1995. That's 22 years ago, time to come back to the present.
