I think Bungie are deliberately trying to distance Destiny from your typical MMO RPG and bring the focus back to a true MMO shooter (of which there are very few).
Fewer RPG elements and more focus on solid shooter mechanics and a killer story can only be a good thing IMO.
I think that an MMO should not necessarily be synonymous with heavy RPG elements and monotonous level grinding.

I just sold my lauch Xbox1, but I'm planning on re purchasing down the line when I can get a slim/Kinectless model.
Hopefully by then there will be some worthwhile exclusives to play, because currently there is nothing appealing exclusive wise on the Xbox1 IMO. And honestly, apart from Halo 5 and the next gears game, there is nothing coming out in the near future that appeals either.
The poor hardware performance really wouldn't bother me if the Xbox1...

Having this as a TPS instead of a FPS would be a terrible idea.
Bungie have been pimping the weapons (customisable, unique, rare ect) without being a FPS a lot of that customizable stuff becomes null and void.
What use is upgrading from iron sights to an epic holo or zoom scope is you never use them? A TPS always ends up with you using a reticule and scopes become irrelevant.

Is it interesting tech no doubt. But the CPU component in the current consoles (PS4 included) is incredibly weak compared to the GPU component.
The CPU part of the APU's that power the PS4 and the Xbox1 manage about 130 Gflops (that is through all 8 cores) both the Xbox1 and PS4 have several cores put aside for OS and background tasks. So significantly less raw performance is available to developers.

On paper the PS4 GPU is infact more advanced and more heavily customized than the Xbox1's. Not to mention about 50% more powerful.
The PS4's apparent CPU "bottle neck" Lol! What a joke. Not only have benchmarks shown that even in single threaded tests the PS4's out performs the Xbox1 (so negating any multi threaded advantage the Xbox1 may or may not receive with DX12)

Lack of "Must Have" games is why I'm yet to buy a WiiU and why I'm now try to sell my Xbox1. I honestly couldn't care less if they have less powerful hardware. A "great" game is a great game irrespective of the hardware it's running on.
I know it's a matter of taste. But for me there are no exclusives releasing on either the Xbox1 or the WiiU this year that I find the least bit compelling.
Honestly, the first one wasn't terrible. Not good by any stretch, but it was an interesting take on introducing the masses to the Resident Evil story.
Sadly they just got more and more ridiculous from there. The following movies had moments that were cool. The start of extinction with the multitude of Alices infiltrating the umbrella complex for example were well done. But for the most part they are terrible movies.
