I had zero issues. Came home from work. Woke up my PS4. Told it to launch the destiny beta. Started playing. Faultless.

I pre ordered through PSN 4 days ago. Linked my PSN account to Bungie account. Downloaded the beta 2 days ago. Didn't need a beta code, or ANY code for that matter.

PSN digital copy ftw! So simple and stress free experience getting into the beta. And don't need to pay for it till release :-)

@Spotie.

Well said, bubble up.

I can understand people simply not caring about the differences in performance between the two consoles. But ignorance and misinformation should not be tolerated!

For many people (myself included) the reduction of aliasing and the improvement in image quality the PS4 offers over it's competitor is, IMO very noticeable and important.

With locked down highly specialised hardware, consoles will always out perform similar PC hardware.

Sure there is MUCH more powerful PC hardware out there. But the average PC gamer owns a PC with much lower specs than a PS4. The latest Steam hardware survey confirms this.

While top end PC hardware can brute force superior results to consoles, only a very small percentage of PC gamers actually own that sort of hardware.

Bang for buck. PS4 cr...

Actually that is a really good point. Perhaps they plan a trimmed down version for last gen. The Xb360 does share the same basic architecture as the WiiU (power PC)

So they technically could port the WiiU version. PS3 though.... never happen.

@ocelot

Xbox1 hardware is x86. Like PC/PS4. Development for all three platforms will happen in unison. It would be incredibly counter productive to do otherwise.

Sadly the WiiU's Power PC based hardware makes it the odd one out this gen. It sucks because the WiiU hardware is in no way bad. It's just different and thus requires unique development.

Agreed. But it still begs the question. Why is the WiiU version not shipping before Xbox/PS4 or at the least at the same time.

Simple answer. Money talks. They will sell many more copies on the other consoles so that's what the distributor pushed for. And even if, as the devs say, and the distributor has no influence.

It still makes sense from a business stand point to focus on the platform/s that stand to make you the most money.

So far the Xbox brand is yet to turn a profit for MS. If you take into account the amount MS invested into R&D the Xbox division is deep into the red.

But Xbox accounts for such a minuscule percentage of the company as a whole. Xbox could continue to haemorrhage money indefinitely and would still barely affect MS's bottom line.

4251d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

That's a really good point. And while true, I think MS's PR BS has put unrealistic expectations in the minds of many users.

Case in point. There is a thread on another gaming site in which people are speculating on possible uses for the cloud.

One of the most common implications is the use of cloud computing to boost the performance of upcoming first party games like Halo 5 to allow 1080/60p performance.

While host/client style MMO ...

It's quite obvious from reading through the comments that very few people actually understand the basics of a render pipeline.

The only calculations that would be feasible to process remotely (cloud/server) are Asynchronous or "out of order" computations.

Not to say this would not be really useful (PS4 devs have shown that Asynchronous Compute is extremely useful for offloading certain CPU centric tasks)

But in the Xbox1's...

Sony will not release a "slim" PS4 until they move to a new fabrication process for the APU.

Currently the APU inside both consoles (Xbox1 and PS4) is manufactured on the TSMC 28 nm process node. The move to TSMC's 20nm process is a while off yet. And I think it unlikely that AMD will make the move straight away.

Chips made using TSMC 28 nm process node offers excellent performance and efficiency, while yields are reportedly very good. It woul...

Really! I'll bet I've built more gaming PC's than you my friend. Considering I've built on average, a new gaming rig every 2-3yrs for the last 10-15yrs.

Not only do you have NO idea what you're talking about. You also can't read.

You may have noticed that there is a little "au" after that figure. I'm not sure what the hardware would have cost in US dollars (I live in Australia after all) but the HD7870 cost me over $400 a...

Well I can attest to the Consoles offering superior performance than the PC equivalent parts.

I have a gaming PC that I built 2yrs ago. Cost me $1300au. I5 processor, HD7870, 8Gb system ram, SSD for OS, ect.

On paper that rig should crap all over the PS4. But it doesn't. BF4, watch_dogs, COD, Thief, and many other games I've tested all perform much more consistently and smoother on the PS4.

Now it's true that I could sit down and...

Problem with most Plasma TV's is input lag. IQ is usually wonderful on a good quality plasma. But input lag can be as bad as several hundred milliseconds with full post processing enabled.

LEDs with a dedicated game mode usually have input lag below measurable tolerances <25ms for Sony's current range of TV's. And are far superior for gaming.

Just upgraded to one of these last month.

Awesome TV for the price. Game mode has one of the lowest input lag on the market. Perfect for competitive multiplayer.

Most of the time though I use the "animation" present. It offers an excellent balance between low input lag and good internal image processes like motion flow and upscalei...

As long as frame rate and res matter to the gamer, then you can guarantee manufacturers and developers will continue to use these figures in marketing.

It's just simple marketing 101.

Look at it this way. Which articles get the most clicks on this site? It's always the 'this game runs/looks better' on said console! Always. And then everyone one argues about not caring or gameplay is what matters or whatever.

But we all comm...

ND were very smart releasing a TLOU Remastered for PS4. Not only will it sell like hotcakes, it was the perfect way to develop their "next gen" engine.

Everything they learnt and any tools they developed for the TLOU will carry straight over to Uncharted 4.

It's like getting paid to hone their skills and will make the development process for UC4 sooo much easier!

I've always said. TLOU was always going to be released on PS...

It will be interesting to see actual confirmed numbers. But that is indeed woeful numbers for the Xbox1 if true.

I had a few mates that had yet to make the leap to next gen. They, like myself were avid Xbox supporters last gen (though we all also owned and loved our PS3's too)

Most have now (post E3) purchased a PS4. They had all spent time playing both my PS4 and Xbox1 (before I sold it) and up until very recently were still on the fence about which cons...

Not sure what your trying to say?

Are you having a go at PS4 owners wanting devs to make the most of hardware? Or are you having a go at PS4 owners being upset because devs are potentially gimping their version to maintain parity with the Xbox1's weaker hardware? Or are you just having a failed attempt at trolling?

Either way, try harder. Your comment makes little sense.
