Ah. No. Just no.
Please go and read something relevant to the topic. Then come back when you have at least basic understanding.
The article still leaves out GPGPU. Both consoles are capable of this with the PS4 basically being built from the ground up to leverage the tech.
If they were CPU bound on the PS4 they could just brute force some of the AI calculations on the GPU using asynchronous compute.
This could also be done on the Xbox1 but is less efficient due to less ACE's and less GPU cores and the lack of 'volatile bit' tech on the MS console.
My problem with their excuse of being CPU bound on the PS4 is this.
The PS4 is highly capable when it comes to asynchronous GPGPU compute. Being built from the ground up with this in mind. So why isn't this tech being used to alleviate the CPU overheads?
Many devs have stated in the past that AI is the perfect type of calculation to carry out asynchronously on the GPU. Being that AI can be done out of order.
Short answer. Their excuse is ...
But drive club is great. As is FH2.
The visuals of both games are impressive. I was lucky enough to have both titles playing side by side last night.
It's not really fair to either title to draw a direct comparison between the two. Both gameplay and visuals are of different styles.
Drive clubs ultra realistic simulated visuals 'vs' the much more stylized exaggerated visuals of FH2. Both look incredible, but very different.
I disagreed. But lol @ shit load of fuck!
Wow! Definitely giving this a miss. That second vid looks so over the top and ridiculous!
I was hoping the would try and take this next COD in an interesting new direction. Instead they have continued in exactly the same path as the last 4 games. But just taken to ridiculous new heights of absurdity.
I thought after playing ghosts that COD couldn't possibly get any more absurd. But low and behold. Video proof that I was dead wrong.
Wha...
@yetter
Actually there is a performance advantage. The Xbox1 suffers from frame pacing issues which lead to perceivable judder.
This is non existent on the PS4 version (being fixed halfway through the beta)
Go visit digital foundry site for an in depth analysis of the issue on Xbox1. A small thing but it's definitely noticeable during gameplay.
So yes. Performance IS better on PS4. Loading times however are nigh on identi...
Man, the active air brake/wing on the rear of that car is epic!
Cannot wait to give this a good hit when it becomes available.
At least digital foundry try and be as subjective as possible. And use cold hard facts collected using expensive equipment.
I'd believe them before some hack journalist or some brain washed fanboy!
Agreed. It's been fun the whole way through for me. And the more I play the more I enjoy. Only at lv11 so far. But my mates are I are loving the co op.
Why don't people just go play the game and enjoy it for what it is.... A great game. Not perfect, but really quite good.
Don't be haters people. There are millions of gamers world wide that are having a blast with this game. And totally oblivious to the irrational hate this game is generating. <...
The story is fine. It's standard run of the mill Sci Fi fare, but much more entertaining than your average shooter IMO.
Where this game shines for me is the SP campaign in co op with friends. Playing solo feels hollow and lonely. But add a mate or two and it's transformed!
I feel like people are being overly harsh with their reviews and criticisms. It's not perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than many highly acclaimed games released rec...
Agreed. I left the beta feeling a bit meh. But so far my bro and I are loving the full game.
It's fun, pretty, and polished. PvP is still not growing on me but I'm only at lv9 so heaps of SP coop goodness to enjoy.
Haters gunna hate. But in all seriousness it's an easy 8-9 out of 10.
Especially when Cod gets those types of scores and those games are huge piles of shite!
It's pretty ignorant to assume that everyone has already played it too.
In my circle of friends, most of us missed out on playing GTA5 (and many other AAA titles last gen).
We are all mid thirties, with families, kids, and careers. So we don't get to game like we used to.
For people like us all these remasters are a god send, because now we get the opportunity to play those games (looking and playing their absolute best) on our shi...
I dream of a day when jaggies are no longer. I was hoping it would be this gen, but alas.
At least they are kept to a minimum for the most part.
Actually I am the opposite. I was super hyped after the reveal trailer and early co-op footage. But after playing the beta I cancelled my preorder.
I still think it has potential to be a great game, but the beta really wasn't what I expected of was hoping for.
I'll wait a week or two and get some feedback from my friends and the media.
I've got my fingers crossed that Destiny will rock hard, really hope Bungie deliver on this on...
Exactly. The clock speeds of these CPU's (based on bulldozer cores) are dynamic and constantly being adjusted based on thermal and computational load.
The numbers that Sony and MS bandy around (1.6ghz vs 1.75ghz ect) just PR fluff, and ultimately irrelevant.
That is completely irrelevant. The CPU cores clock dynamically, dependent on load (both thermal and computational) and can achieve much higher peak speeds than 1.6 or even 2ghz.
Developers need to balance efficient use of available computational throughput while still staying within the envelope of thermal load the PS4 is capable of disapating.
Some tasks are better suited to multicore processing while other tasks are better suited to a single core. Obvious...
Agree with you there. As far as launch titles go, I actually thought it was quite good.
I actually sat down and played through some of the campaign over the weekend and had fun. It's just so hit and miss on both gameplay and visuals.
There are some truly gorgeous visuals in some areas (still holds up against any game released to date) but then there are also some very meh moments and unpolished areas too. Likewise with gameplay. Some of the set pieces a...
Wow! Way to show you have no idea what you're talking about!
128mb of eSRAM! And where exactly would they fit this magical number of eSRAM? You do realise that eSRAM is "embedded" RAM right? As in "on die"!
If indeed MS did try and include such a huge amount of eSRAM they would literally had no room for GPU cores. They already had to sacrifice some cores to fit the paltry 32mb. Adding any more would have meant an even weaker GPU! So m...
Actually the PS4 is basically built from the ground up to leverage asynchronous GPGPU compute.
The code is simply slotted into any idle GPU cores while rendering each frame. The GPU is never at 100% load for the whole render of each frame. So much of the GPGPU compute is done for "free" performance wise.
This is only possible with out of order code though. I remember somewhere a Developer mentioning AI being a good candidate for GPGPU.
