@ ct03, 150 hours is what, a month's work tops? Source from the main man himself. I understand perfectly how modelling works, i have done it myself. I can also understand that modelling to an extreme where you cant actually see the detail as you play a car in the game is a little bit futile. In order to see uber...
GT5 is 'always connected' with updates even inside GT mode and syncing data.
If everyone who is only wanting to play it offline career for now (a lot of you im sure) logs out then it'll speed up the game for you between menus etc.
Not only that it'll help unload the servers massively for those people who then fancy a race online with their mates....If everyone does this and logs out of PSN just for now when they are in single player it'...
Polyphony just need to be modelling new cars constantly to the 'premium' standard. I think they really should be contracting in a lot of model artists to build the cars, get 100 more artists working on cars.
Even if they each spend the claimed 6 months on each model(which i find hard to believe it takes that long), GT6 will have 500+ premium models in 18 months.
Turn 10 used a lot of contract work to build the forza games, and it did not hurt the ...
TBH after the delay was announced in October i saw this media frenzy over the game and the anti PD, anti GT sentiment growing rapidly in supposedly neutral sites with articles that quite clearly expressed frustration and rather unneeded criticism.
At that point i sensed that there would be more mixed reviews than universal praise upon the game's release.
On the other hand GT is stubbornly GT- If you loved the older games in the series like me, you'...
Crytek have forced Epic to keep evolving their engine where they might not be as inclined to do so. Cryengine 3 has introduced a superb competing multiformat technology which will force the evolution of each engine to keep up.
Maybe this will not benefit the consoles as much as it will benefit a platform with the performance to use all these additional features in the latest game engines- PC. After all this latest UE3 demo is assuredly running on a PC.
1920 cores, 96 TMUs- SERIOUS speed with the revised architecture. That is 70 percent(!) more shading and texture performance than a 6870 if the core runs at the same clockspeeds.
It loses out in overall memory bandwidth to GTX580 and no increase in the number of ROPs or their pixels per clock over 5870 may prove an interesting factor in the benchmarking. I guess AMD felt they were not a bottleneck to increased performance in this revision.
Cant wait to se...
Can it replace either/or a mouse/keyboard? Is it faster than then or more responsive?
If not whats the point? It clearly hasnt got the resolution to detect individual finger movement. Using a PC requires a great deal more precision than large swiping movements.
The video shows very slow, deliberate actions. For example, writing hello takes a massive ten seconds....not to mention the considerable lag involved. Its clear touchscreen technology is much more ...
USB 2.0 maximum real world transfer is about 30-35Mb/s. It probably would not be enough to send 1280 x 720 x 30 frames a second alongside the rest of the data captured by the IR sensor. Which is why the RGB camera is only 640 x 480.
USB 3.0 on a new console would provide ample bandwidth to solve this problem.
High end smartphone chipsets are <1 watt thermal envelope. Well below it in fact.
A mobile GPU that is faster than RSX designed for low power is still around 25-30 watts- something like a 40nm GT335M. Even if that had an optical shrink to 28nm it would not be any less than 10 watts.
RSX is a 300 million transistor GPU. As such its performance would be impossible to match inside a phone because of power constraints- for now. Give it another couple years...
GTA:SA HD? That was released years and years ago.
Its called the Pc version...
It uses a lot of VRAM. But generally its not a disastrous port- if you set the game to the console settings its not that demanding really.
Only when you start to pump up the settings do you need a fast machine- but then it DOES look an awful lot better than the console version. So you cant complain too much.
Onlive has console level graphics, resolution and framerate. Which isnt anything close to what a high end PC can do. Or even a midrange PC. Case closed.
Should not expect any less. Burnout Paradise was nigh on identical on both platforms. Criterion know how to lever each individual console's strengths, minimise their weaknesses
When anyone asks me what the best games of a golden era of games, 2000-2009 was, Deus ex sits very, very high up that list.
If this only captures half of that fabled title, it'll be a triumph.
''Judging by the story and plot''
How about judging by gameplay. Judging by gameplay to me, the game was very repetitive and limited in the execution of what seemed like a reasonably good concept and clever premise.
Not a bad game, but not a masterpiece of a GAME which is what it is, regardless of the quality of its plot
Good to see the old i7 920 still kicking ass though :-)

There are many operations PS3 is better at than 360 and many 360 is better suited to than PS3. One of those things 360 for sure has a lead in is vertex fillrate. Xenos unified shader architecture means that it can roughly match RSX maximum vertex fillrate with a single cluster 8 of its 48 unified shader pipelines. The more shader units you employ on Xenos for vertex operations, the faster it will get. It can use all 48 pipelines for vertex if need be and be hugely faster than RSX but in pract...
Been gaming for years on PC. No way RSX is faster than a 7900GT overall. I should know, I have had a 7900GT- and a 7900GS. And a 7800GTX. And a X1950XT.
I also know that Crysis barely makes 25 frames a second all medium settings on an X1950XT at a HD rez, and thats a faster card than a 7900GT.
I didnt think the shadows are that bad to be honest. In a close up of the car like on the grid they look pretty bad no question, but the camera is soooo tight on the car. It sticks out only because everything else usually looks so sweet.
As soon as it pulls back and you are in the game proper racing you dont notice it nearly as much.
