Not sure about the coil whine, but my PS5 disc drive and to a lesser degree the fan are considerably louder when compared to my Series X.

The best implementation I have seen by far is Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. 2nd I would say Spider-Man Remaster and MM. The RT implementation in those games makes a notable difference in the overall experience.

Why the downvotes here? Magog actually makes a strong point for once. Nintendo’s inability to compete with Sony and Microsoft by introducing just another box is what led to the innovation of the Wii and Switch. Nintendo’s direction changed after the GameCube. Hence, it changed the direction of the industry as a whole.

I have a Series X and really enjoy it, but I really hope that the lowest common denominator of this generation does not end up being more successful than it’s more powerful sibling. I doubt it will out perform the X in the end, but currently crossing my fingers because I do not want to see more underpowered consoles in our future.

I love this! Keep it up!

@CrimsonWing I can understand your confusion.

The OP is saying that Square Enix said the game was in the OPs words “done wrong.” The OP was not saying they admitted fault with exclusive content. However, Square Enix never said they did “wrong,” they actually blamed Crystal Dynamics for the underperforming game. Which is very poor form on the part of Square Enix.

My 10 year old doesn’t have one and I’m not sure at what point I will allow her to have one. Maybe when she starts driving. Again not really sure. Will depend on her maturity level as she gets older.

I really do not like these kinds of predatory games that are designed with the help of psychologists. My 10 year old has a Nintendo Switch with tons of great games, but given an option will usually choose Roblox over any of them. I limit her time with it because I don't want her to feel overall restricted and later in life indulge on what she was being forced to miss out on, however; there are weeks that go by that I will not allow her to play Roblox due to the potential of addiction issu...

Even if it were a teenage rage simulator. It was a great simulator in its time. I have to admit I did my fair share of just running around hitting people with bats, shooting them, etc. Also did my fair share of getting chased by the military while on a random rampage. I did this because no other game had done it before. It had never been possible before at that scale and it was novel for the time.

No I’m not talking about an FF7 Remake type project. I’m talking about something similar in quality to Destroy All Humans or perhaps even similar or slightly lesser quality than Demon Souls. Not an entire reimagining of the franchise.

If you want to charge me money for a product that I already purchased 20 years ago, then I personally need something of quality in return. Otherwise I will play these games on my OG Xbox if I am searching for a nostalgic rush. If you are willi...

This was a pure nostalgia play intended to make a quick buck. You could tell from quality of the remaster in the trailer they never intended to put much effort into the project. It would have cost them more but a developer similar to Bluepoint could have worked wonders with this trilogy and it would have tempted me to put money into it.

I am in no way interested in more games like Fortnite or Roblux, but these are the types of games that really serve the Gamepass model because they can fund themselves through microtransactions and the FTP model. In other words the developers who make these types of games do not need to be provided an incentive (financial or otherwise) by Microsoft to be placed on Gamepass because they just want people to download there game with the expectation that they will land enough whales to sustain th...

It’s a poor choice to throw the developer under the bus and not absorb some of the blame. Not only will it make it nearly impossible to work with Crystal Dynamics to turn this game around, but it will make other developers hesitant to join future projects with Square.

Stop blaming Crystal Dynamics and blame the decision to go GaaS. Instead Square doubles down and cites GaaS as the future of gaming in this article. Just no.

@Rimeskeem psychology is my favorite field of study and the classes I enjoyed the most while taking my pre-reqs. I find human behavior to be so intriguing. I often wish I would have studied psychology instead of business. Good for you and good luck on your PHD/Psyd.

To add to your point I can remember playing FF7 on the original PS1 and thinking how magnificent the game would be if the gameplay matched the pre-rendered cut scenes. The game was marketed entirely by only showing the cut scenes on the TV commercials and I was very impressed. Then we got FF7 Remake for the PS4 and it makes the original PS1 cut scenes look terribly dated. It was very good for 90s CGI, but in 2021 the cut scenes definitely look like 90s CGI.

This is very true. I own a small business and anytime we are working on a big project and I get stuck after many hours, the answer to the problem will often smack me in the face while in shower the next morning. If I rush through a project due to time constraints, I often identify the very next morning the things that I could have done better. The human brain is extremely complex and the way it functions is very interesting.

There was a time in my life where I would have seen a trailer like this and I would have thought “how could the graphics get any better!” Game development has come a very long way.

I consider games a work of art that is relevant to a specific time period and a work of art should be preserved despite changes for ideology. This is a slippery slope because It is not as if the GTA series in particular is a beacon for morality to begin with. Over time, other things in this series will no longer be acceptable, and over time if it is continually modified, it will no longer match the original vision. Art represents a snapshot that is a product of its time and should not be scru...
