Agreed @7804. Next gen visuals at 60fps is fantastic. I will likely never choose 120fps over visuals, but it is nice that it seems some developers will provide a 120hz option for frame rate junkies.
Yes the most mid-2000s event in the history of the mid-2000s. Pure nostalgia!

I love the Playstation brand, but in the interest of objectivity....

Not sure that was convincing anyone to drop $599 in 2006.
I don't understand how anyone thought the design of this product would be a good idea? Then to add insult to injury, you have to purchase each color of the console seperately to get all of the games when they could have loaded all the roms onto a single console. Other than maybe attaching it to a key chain, what is the point?
“We have a product for people who aren’t able to get some form of connectivity.” “It’s called the Xbox 360.”
After reading through the article, I am a bit concerned that they overthought the shooting mechanics. Maybe the new shooting system will feel fantastic, but reading through all the nuance makes it seem like shooting will be overly complex.
Do we know if games on the Series X will be using Dolby Vision on games or will it just be movies? If it is applied to games then the Series X will definitely be my multi-plat machine.
Adding another layer of complexity, my OLED does 120 frames, but I run it through my Atmos receiver for surround sound and the receiver can only handle 60 frames. Games sound great, but I won’t be able to run 120 frames unless I want to hook up a new console to the TV directly. All said, I suspect actually experiencing 120 frames will be rare in most households.
Does the thought of having people blow on your control seem kind of gross or is it just me? Idea seems cool but in practice 🤮
Taken with a grain of salt.
My assumption would be no ray tracing in performance mode due to how demanding ray tracing is. However, I could be wrong and I am looking forward to hearing more details.
Who said this was built from the ground up? It is a remaster. Not a remake or new game for PS5.
Only took the time to platinum 3 games this gen. Horizon Zero Dawn, GoW 2018, and Final Fantasy VII remake. Loved every minute of it!
7. Dead Space $120M
6. Shadow of the Tomb Raider $135M
5. Destiny $140M

This is true for me on most games, but I hope this is not the case for the Witcher 3 upgrade. I have 200+ hours in that game, and while I would consider upgrading for NG+, I do not find starting over to be worth it for me. I can't see myself putting another 200+ hours just to get where I am currently. Not with all of the new games that are coming in 2020 and 2021.
That’s probably true for most people, but I believe there is a subset of highly impulsive buyers who want a next gen console ASAP, and are prepared to eat the initial cost and get their preferred console later.
Also, if some parents/grandparents are holiday shopping for little Jimmy, they may see the console that is available as a suitable substitute.
All of this will shake out when the supply of each console is normalized, but until then there will li...
I can see the wisdom in what you are saying Bathyj. Maybe I am being just a bit impatient. I am in my 30s but each new console generation makes me feel like a kid on Christmas.
I wonder how many are considering the Series X when they otherwise would not have because of the 24 month financing at 0%? That is the deal that pushed me to pre-order both when I had planned to “wait and see” with the SX.
Also how many will settle for one console over the other just because they are able to land a pre-order of a next gen console for day one delivery or Christmas?
In all, I am glad to see gaming thriving the way it is. I expect next gen ...
Wish they would show us seeing as release is only about a month away at this point.
I just don't buy that the Series S will not hold back next gen or at the very least the Series X in some way. There is more to game play and level design than just scalable features such as resolution, fps, and ray tracing.
