Go away gen 8!
@LoveSpuds Excellent point!
I agree with all you said, but I will add that the game never should have been live service to begin with. I don’t know anyone that was asking for a live service Halo.
I enjoy many components of the game, but there are elements I don’t enjoy. However, I feel the elements I do not enjoy are a me problem. To give one small example, it is a chore for me to make sure Arthur and Arthur’s horses weight are constantly optimal. Also, while it is amazing to have so many things to do, it is overwhelming for me.
Again, I feel this is a me problem. I am a bit OCD and silly things like the weight of my horse not being perfect while managing many other...
@John I didn’t say that not being able to afford a console or not being able to find one is selfish. I’m not sure how anyone could view not being able to afford a console as selfish. Makes no sense. You are reframing your argument instead of recognizing that you made a poorly thought out take.
Do you think wanting to get the most out of a product an individual worked hard and paid a premium for is selfish?
You are only looking at one side of the metaphori...
Some people that haven’t moved to gen 9 still want those that made the move to be tethered to decade old tech. Despite the fact that gen 9 users have used their hard earned money for gen 9 hardware with the hope of receiving new experiences. How selfish.
Your calling of others being selfish cuts both ways.
Didn’t think this was ever a question.
Especially when you factor in that Sony is still using chips to manufacture new PS4s. Given the scarcity of resources, there would be more PS5s in the wild if they stopped developing the PS4 altogether.
All this talk of scalability. I can only imagine how Mario 64 would have turned out if it were cross gen and tied to the previous generation SNES.
R & C Rift Apart opened my eyes to what a game that is no longer tethered by decade old tech can be, and that is only the beginning.
As an early adopter it feels like I own a PS4 Pro 2.0 and a One X 2.0. It’s time for gaming to move forward with current gen so that truly new experiences can be had beyond r...
Funny how time changes perspective. I remember looking at an Xbox 360 in 2005 and thinking how sleek and modern everything looked. Loved the 4 lights around the power button to represent the controllers in use (except when 3 of them turned red on me once).
Now I look at the 360 and wonder what I ever liked about it. Even though I really liked the look of the 360 then, I still thought the launch PS3 looked better in 06. Didn’t realize it used Spider Man font until someone po...
Streisand effect at work. I never knew this existed until Nintendo had it removed. After hearing this news I looked it up for the first time.
@yeahokwhatever keep condoning MTs that provide shortcuts in gaming. The developers will continue to reach as far as you let them and games will become even more of a grind for those who refuse to buy them.
They are in the business of making money. As if there is not enough evidence already in the industry (Ubisoft, EA, Take Two, etc.)
Give it time, keep your eyes open and you will eventually see.
Agree that there has to be balance. I lost interest in Horizon rather quickly because I was getting legendary cars in no time at all. I like a nice balanced progression system, but not one that promotes MTs as a "time saver."
They want you burned out by grinding in hopes that you will spend. What gaming is becoming really sucks.
Touche. Elden Ring seems to be an exception to the rule. Only reason I have not picked up Elden Ring is because of my back log. However, I have a feeling that all of the great things I have been hearing about it are going to make my back log seem boring really quick and I will probably pick it up soon. Do you know if it runs better on the Series X or PS5? Most of my friends are playing it on PS5 so if there is no significant difference, I will likely end up with the PS5 version fairly soon.
Lesson I have learned from these articles is that buying a game at release is definitely overrated in 2022.
The option to buy cars is there and once some players inevitably start using that option it lessens the experience for players that don’t buy them. The main issue is that it I provides an incentive to the developer to make the game more of a grind fest in an effort to get you to spend.
Another issue is that online players who don’t buy the cars and have to grind for them are at a disadvantage.
It does have an affect when the argument for $70 games is typically that microtransactions are not included and prices needed to be adjusted upward in order match inflation and increasing cost of development. Not to mention that the increase $5 to $40 shouldn't even be called microtransaction. It is nearly the cost of a full game.
Yeah you caught me in a lie because I was trying to use my fake username to somehow gain video game cred SMH.
The last GT I purchased was on PS3, and I was prepared to drop $70 today because I didn't know about the microtransactions. Now that I know, I will continue working through my back log. Believe me or don't. Makes no difference.
Why?
