I find it sad that I have to hope for this to be true, but I hope that this is true. Wii U definitely needs more support right now.
@NYC_Gamer
Wouldn't surprise me. Activision's pretty loose with multiplatform releases. That and it's possible that they probably wouldn't mind stepping into the pedestal that EA recently stepped off of with Nintendo.
@vork
It depends. The Sony video you upload can't be the entire game and it needs to have you actually commentating over it. Only then is it protected (assuming my assessment of that clause is accurate).
I'm really digging that logo. Game's looking great.
So, I skimmed through both videos... was there any difference between the UK and US Direct conferences outside of release date differences?
@Rrobba
Ah, bummer. Thanks for the clarification though.
I know it's unfashionable to post a comment on an article you submitted, but I must say, after Sonic's last minute inclusion in Brawl and the overly simplistic Olympics games, it would be really cool to have a Mario Kart/All-Stars crossover game. I wonder if the Mario characters would get All-Star moves, as well as items based on the Sonic universe.
@Silent
You completely missed the point of my comment... YES, higher specs can be very beneficial to any console that properly utilizes them for game development and marketing. My POINT was that higher specs will not be taken into account by the general public; families and kids (the majority of those who buy consoles) don't usually see that as part of the value.
You just completely warped the whole point of the argument into something almost entirely unr...
I owned a 360 for five years and I've had my PS3 for almost four now. I still don't care for Achievements/Trophies. Until they start getting me free stuff, I have very little interest in them.
That's pretty ignorant. Mario is the face of gaming; if you put his face on a random sign in a store and more often than not, people will know who he is. He's arguably as recognizable as Mickey Mouse.
Also thirty years of best selling games and over 200 million games in the franchise sold speaks volumes over Call of Duty's current stagnation.
If I'm not mistaken, the fair use clause states that if you use part of the content and put your own commentary on it, it's protected. I think Nintendo may only be targeting full playthroughs of newer games as well as uploads made by people with a ton of views.
The specifics are a little blurry in that regard and I'm a little curious to know what they are.
I really wish people would not cite specs as a reason for the Wii U's current sales issues. It's diluting the real issues here. Specs largely do not push a game console; they often push PCs that are dedicated to gaming since that's something you have to focus on as a PC gamer, but specs do not push consoles for the most part. It's something the general public just isn't aware of, let alone cares about. There are so many consoles in previous generations that have proven thi...
To be fair, it's not like they outright cancelled it. This announcement implies they will work on it after the PC version is finished.
It seems they have already invested a lot in the Wii U and probably have to commit to it. That thing can be marketed better, get more games and sell more units. It would be a total waste to just up and release a new console now (that and I imagine a lot of Wii U owners, myself included, would be pretty frustrated).
EDIT: Also, it's stupid to invest millions in new hardware just because a member of what is arguably the most hated game company in the industry blasted your c...
Ha, this reply prompted me to go back to my "Used or New" blog. I often get used games when it's something I'm not that sure of, such as when I got my copy of Brutal Legend. Ever since I've been buying many Double Fine games (albeit digitally).
Nintendo games are another example of games I like to buy new. I have no qualm with buying used ones since I know that kind of software always sells, but I like the Club Nintendo benefits and I wish more publisher...
@admiralvic
Yeah, what they basically do is let you file a claim to say you're not violating any copyright which requires you to input personal information. Then they send the claim and your info to the firm that laid the copyright claim on your video and the rest is up to them (at least that's how they did it a few years back, I'm unsure if the policy ever changed).
Saying the Wii U is shit/dead is hardly factual. Also how is Nintendo his competition? He's part of a publisher, not a competing console manufacturer.
It can be argued that they created the commentary, but I think it's important to remember that those commentaries have less value without the game footage.
The thing is legally speaking, Nintendo is well within their right to do this and it's a shame people can't even recognize this as the lesser of two evils; it's either this, or pulling a Sega/Microsoft and removing videos and leaving strikes on peoples' accounts.
99%? From what rear end did you pull that figure?
EDIT: Also dedicatedtogamers isn't talking about software support, he's talking about EA blasting the Wii U on twitter.
No love for X and Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem? Ah well, that's what I'm waiting most to see.
That would still count as being bitter... the reason you listed is just different. Besides, even among developers who are not supporting Wii U, I don't see anyone blasting it or calling it "dead/shit." Who else is being that unprofessional about this?
The bit about Kotaku was amazing.
