Not from a sales standpoint, but it's not something people look at and say "WOW" when a new one is announced. Call of Duty has some dedicated fans, so power to them.
I think I'll stick to renting my copies, however.
Let me just say that I will never support such a model. If the next Valve game/system does it? I'm not buying. If the next Nintendo console does it, I'm not buying. Restrictions like that have no place in this industry and is not deserving of any money.
If all else fails, I'll find another hobby or just stick to older video game consoles until such a model ceases.
Monopolies are historically terrible. Competition is what will lead to better products.
EDIT: Nintendo may be my personal favorite, but I'd be absolutely heartbroken if Sony in particular stopped making consoles. Competition helps all of the platforms improve.
What's your point? That doesn't speak volumes about how the mass market will respond to it and the other consoles. This is not an open-and-shut generation, no matter how much you want it be. Not by a long shot.
EDIT: Am I saying that the generation can't wind up being exactly as you say? Absolutely not, but I'm also saying there is a variety of variables to consider here; price, release, games and the mainstream market. This generation is too unpredictable to ...
Did they really formally announce a lack of support though? Last time I checked, it was some loose events and that one snag on Twitter.
Either way, I'm not particularly interested in anymore of their shoddy port jobs.
Hello Mr. Crystal Ball! How are you doing today?
In all fairness the Wii U didn't have a bad unveiling. The following E3 conference meant to invigorate people and make them really understand what it was meant to do was a three ring circus in comparison... but yes, this was worse than that.
To be fair regarding the Halo TV show, if they have any big news regarding actual software, it will probably be at E3.
@dedicattogamers
That's a fair point. Can't really argue with that.
@LOL_WUT
Give me a break. You can't pull that when throughout this entire thing, you've been the biggest apologist to EA for no other reason than that they are sticking it to Nintendo. Don't fool yourself because you're most certainly not fooling anyone else, you flip-flopping troll.
EDIT: Also...
EA is known for scummy business practices, ruining developers like Bioware, forcing the folks at DICE to work on more Battlefield g...
Correction; a lot of the games they published are well loved. They didn't make a lot of those games, developers like DICE and Criterion did. I myself like a number of the games they publish; I'm a big Mass Effect fan for one thing.
But that doesn't suddenly bar me from despising a lot of their business decisions. From my view EA is a worse scumbag company than Activision, Capcom and all the rest.
And obviously my vision is not entirely skewed (or ...
For once, we agree. The biggest problem I have is Batman's design in this game is virtually identical to the designs in the earlier Arkham games. No subtle differences that make him seem even remotely younger (such as smaller muscles or less sophisticated suit). It begs the question as to why apparently the only distinctive factor involving this rendition is the voice.
But hey, Kevin Conroy is still there in some respect. I for one am pretty curious to see how this plays ...
I was going to say, it could be a game that takes place during two time periods where we have a young Batman and a modern Batman. Or he's voicing other characters in the game. In the episode "The Man Who Has Everything" in Justice League Unlimited (friggin' masterpiece episode btw), he voiced both Batman and Joe Chill.
I'm conflicted on this. On one hand it's nice to get bonus content for such a cool looking game, but on the other hand shouldn't this be in the game no matter what?
Twenty years ago or so it was heavy metal. Before that it was comic books. Before that it was films. People in the media will always scapegoat creatively explicit material, no matter what era.
Awesome. Looking forward to both, but what about X and Retro's game?
Bayonetta is an verb now? Wouldn't a better term be "Dead Rising"? Or "Goldeneye"?
Anyone know what the first console exclusive third party game was? Maybe that should be the name of this verb.
And on topic, any exclusives are welcome for the system at this point. Though I doubt it won't result with someone raging about them.
So do your germalism skills, Kotaku.
On topic, I think this game *can* do well. It really seems like the new devs are ambitious and have a particular type of story they want to tell. Now we just need some solid gameplay and design to back it up. It begs the question of whether they want it linear like Asylum or open world like City.
Either way, I don't see this surpassing the previous games, but considering how high the bar was for them, this game doesn...
The quote was mildly exaggerated. But when this story was first posted I had never seen so many people leaving comments with the words "EA is right" before.
It boggles the mind that people will hate something until that entity says something critical about something else that those people seemingly hate even more.
Well holy geewillickers CustardTrout! Better get yourself back into the Batbooth and finish recording those lines!
The PS4 is definitely a good step for Sony in this day and age. This man has a great track record and a promising future if he's the mastermind behind that console.
