As much as I'd like to agree with you, I can't. When the Wii U was announced, there was an endless stream of comments form all over the internet ragging on the name. A large part of marketing is about generating a positive aesthetic. If the Playstaion was the Poopstation, how many people do you think would be inclined to buy it?
You're not the only one I've seen suggest that. Though it would be redundant. When I was growing up I had an NES, a 64 and a GCN. My folks always referred to them as "your Nintendo."
Come to think of it they also labelled my Dreamcast, Playstation and Xbox consoles the same thing...
The answer is simple; DON'T buy the console if it does not support used games. Remember how Resident Evil Mercs 3D on 3DS had a single game save that you could not delete? The controversy and lack of sales resulted in Capcom abandoning the policy. The same can be done with these new consoles if this rumor proves to be true.
^This. Nintendo has a ton of great franchises. I suppose it's just a matter of finding the right time to bring them out to the public again.
Ninja Theory has a history of making games with supposedly decent stories and hindered gameplay. There's a reason why Legend of Zelda games are commonly more highly revered than say Heavenly Sword.
People enjoy their bubble of nostalgia and don't feel as if a franchise can ever trek new ground without ruining their original interpretation of it. They're afraid of their favorite franchise entering an obscurity similar to Sonic the Hedgehog post-Adventure 2/pre-Generations.
It's sad that people don't give new ideas a chance. I'm sure I will be blasted for saying that because "CoDifying RE is not innovation." Well, neither is telling Capcom to...
Nobody is saying anything about catering to the CoD audience, though. I don't remember CoD having you outnumbered in a claustrophobic environment like what was showcased in Leon's portion of the RE6 trailer. Everyone seems to be pretending as if that part of the trailer no longer exists.
Also, I don't care for psychological horror. I don't look for a game to try and spook me. It normally does not work for me. The only thing that ever really spooked me in Resid...
That's a little unfair. Resident Evil 4 felt nothing like CoD. Yes, the games are more action oriented, but then I didn't find the old ones all that scary anyway (save for Nemesis).
Let's let this franchise grow. It doesn't need to scare us to be a fun experience; it never did. It has fun characters, insane monsters and some fun gun play mechanics. Let's give RE6 a real chance before we call this franchise dead.
DLC can be good and bad. It's a great way to add something to the experience after it's been sold (not to mention it continues support for the franchise and the industry). On the other it can be used as a means to rip you off ($5 for horse armor and keys to unlock VS. modes for example).
The 3DS has a pair of rear facing cameras though. I'm sure whatever Nintendo showcases at E3 this year will be neat. Like with the Wii's unveiling, they have a knack for surprising gamers and the press alike. Somehow, I think they'll figure out how to make us want this thing.
@Zha1tan
I don't want to register as a Republican. I don't agree with the general policy choices and social views. I'll take Obama over Romney or Gingrich.
Pretty exciting to think about, no? With hope, such a rumor will turn out to be true and the Wii U will not be deemed as inferior to the upcoming NextBox and PS4. Not by a great margin at least.
Easy there. Us TMNT fans deserve something decent every couple of decades or so. Seriously, when was the last time the turtle franchise had a decent game since Turtles in Time?
Honestly, is there a reason not to?
I can't vote for Paul being that I'm not a registered Republican, which is a shame. Personally I'd like to see Paul and Obama debate one another and see how that goes. It's just such a shame that Paul does not have much support in the Republican party.
@MariaHelFutura
I'm surprised you had so many disagrees. Yes, Paul is a better candidate than pretty much the entire ticket at hand, but he simply is not supported within his own party. The ones who seem to dig him most is liberal independents and in a Republican primary, you need Republicans to vote for you.
I want him to win too, but he simply does not have the support he needs to win the primary. If he did, he would the presidency for sure.
A new Mario and Zelda is inevitable. You cannot fault them for that.
However, new franchises can't be out of the question. Now that "Wii Sports" type games are no longer fresh, they will have to move onto something new at some point.
Or even take older franchises and apply new ideas. That's never a bad thing either. Always remember: a new IP will not always be a keeper; Bodycount and Brink are examples of this.
Very good. Hope this gets through. I think it's high time Australian gamers were allowed to choose to buy and play the types of games that gamers around the world get to experience.
It was supposedly considerably stronger than the 360, though I'm not sure it had more so to do with playing games or for its other features like background downloading or its other apps. The problem was the PS3 was difficult to develop games on, so most multiconsole titles were made with the 360 in mind first.
I reckon something similar with the Wii U may happen given that it's supposed to be a very open and easy piece of hardware to work with. If Valve digs it, then ...
PS3 takes a little time and the 360 syncing can get confusing with more than one controller, especially if your batteries are dying. Admittedly it's not quite as bad as the Wii's syncing issues.
Either way, it was always a minor problem. Still nice to have a little convenience though.
