^ This. It is just as much the fault of the gamer as it is the game critic. I ALWAYS judge games for myself. That's how I ended up enjoying Killer7, The Darkness, F.E.A.R., Duke Nukem Forever and Bomberman Hero.
I'm aware there are average joes out there who don't like those games either, but hey, to each their own.

Nintendo's pretty intelligent as a company. They've always hit snags before, any company will. However, anyone who truly believes they're on the way out of the industry (not even saying the article suggests that, just detractors in general) need to look at the bigger picture.

To be fair, the 3DS' DS emulation is still region free. You can still play European and Japanese imported DS games on it.
Yes, a console we know very little about is not exciting at all. And it's exactly the same as the Wii except for HD support, hard drives, a new network system, a tablet controller and its own app store. Totally the same as the Wii.

Playstation 2 was the weakest machine in the previous gen. It sold the most and had the most AAA games.
Many of the initial complaints about the 3DS are now largely irrelavent. It has many more games, both physical and downloadable, more AAA titles, it has many online capabilities and even some multi-media services.
Not to say it's "DA BEST TING EVAH" but it certainly, especially for someone like myself, is a very good device for gamers.
Not everything he says is bad. He understands certain business decisions better than most. I think he's a better business analyst than an industry prophet.
If you couldn't tell already, I happen to like his show. Personally I think he's wrong when he talks about Nintendo and Zynga though.
As a Pachter fan, I feel the Pach-man is off base when it comes to the Wii U. It will find an audience. All Nintendo consoles do.

Correction; Sony and Nintendo. Microsoft almost never seems to get criticized for anything.
As long as they don't make too many of them (or at least have a special reason) then it's okay. New experiences are just as important as revisiting them.
And as lizard81288 said, they also need to provide something new to these remakes. Nothing huge, but SOMETHING; an HD makeover does not cut it IMO. Zelda 3D, Star Fox 3D, those had better graphics AND new content. Playstation 2 HD collections have trophies and Halo Anniversary had the version switch feature.
Well, it's a pretty good thing to have confirmed (eh, rumored) for those who are really looking forward to playing Netflix on their console of choice.

Let's look at the track record so far, shall we? Nintendo started the concept of backwards compatibility (or at least boosted the trend) with the Gameboy Color. It could play Gameboy games as well as its own. GBA could play GB/GBC games. DS then could play GBA games, the Wii can play GCN games (or at least most can) and finally the 3DS can play DS games.

If console races were all about exclusives, then I'll gladly take Mario, Metroid and Zelda over the likes of Halo, Gears of War, Uncharted and God of War.
Maybe it's fanboyish of me to say, but in an industry dominated by blood, gore and guns (yes I'm aware God of War has no guns, shut up) it's nice to get away from those things and play games with gameplay and fun at the forefront of the developers' minds.
