The unfortunate thing with "Wii HD" is it's still confusing. Is it a Wii that does HD or an entirely new console?
I think they should go with something a little new. Or if they absolutely have to use the Wii moniker, at least add a subtitle that more than certainly differentiates it from its predecessor.
Mario Galaxy and Legend of Zelda already proved that you don't require a massive polygon count to look outstanding.
Uhh, Wii U has been geared toward casual and core gamers. Microsoft is going on a massive casual binge because the Kinect was such a smash success.
Well, that would be nice. Where did you hear that though?
Googled it once. They explained that they didn't want to give an unfair advantage to those who bought the game prior to a patch of that nature. Of course that was just the answer I read; who knows if it's even true.
Though I think part of it is it's more difficult to patch a 3DS cartridge than, say a 360 or PS3 disc. Not impossible, but probably just more difficult due to the current network the 3DS uses.
The Wii brand is a very strong moniker. However it could cripple the Wii U if it confuses people who don't do their research as well as scare off core gamers who may otherwise write it off as "another kids console."
Having a touch screen in the center does not inhibit you from being able to play games traditionally, particularly if the controller has a traditional controller's usual button layout. The only real gripe most people seem to have is that the analogue sticks are 3DS-type nubs/circle pads.
There's a chance they're doing 3rd party partnerships to aid other parties to become more used to their tech. That's always been an issue in the past.
Better late than never? This is something to be celebrated, not squandered.
Really. I don't remember seeing any of Mario Galaxy's features in Mario 64.
Actually I'm talking about syncing more than one controller. It can be a somewhat of a pain.
Whatever was not making me look at the awfully scripted and poorly acted cutscenes for that lame excuse for a "dramatic" story. Or perhaps having auto aim controls while navigating a 3D plane with a D-pad and having to switch to pointing the Wii remote at the screen to shoot missiles (which incapacitates me). Or maybe I was just peeved when I was given my heat resistant suit only after clearing the lava level.
Yeah, those are reasons everyone cites, but they're ...
@-Mika-
Really. I got the 3DS before the price drop and I got twenty games for it; most of which later adopters may never even get, paid or otherwise.
There's a wide variety of choices out right now (Star Fox, Zelda, Mario, Sonic Generations, Resident Evil) and to come (Kid Icarus, Luigi's Mansion, Paper Mario, Monster Hunter). The 3DS is what it was when it first launched; an investment and a promise for great experiences to come. Yes, the wait time ...
I take it this is trolling? Well, it fails. Bringing up the Xbox 720 has little to do with this article, especially since nobody really knows anything about it.
I'd prefer original titles or otherwise notable games that are developed to be on the Wii U specifically. No more lame waggle ports like on the Wii, I say; that's nothing but a good thing.
Well, given how many games actually utilize Move and Kinect with intuitive and deep functionality, then yes, I'd say it's a gimmick.
While I agree with your feelings on Other M, keep in mind that people mostly hated the story, not the gameplay and the story was written by Sakamoto (the man who has been in charge of Metroid for years), not anyone at Team Ninja. That game sucked more so because of him, not the dev team.
Don't forget that Sega helped with F-Zero GX and they outsourced Mario Strikers Charged and Luigi's Mansion 2 to Next Level Games. They've experimented and now they're expandi...
For now. ;)

I know, I'm so sad about it! :( I was very young with Super NES was hot. I had an NES; my family figured it was all I needed. Then commercials for the 64 popped up and I was like "Gimme for Christmas?" The rest is history. XD
In all fairness, the Wii could play GCN games (just as the DS could play GBA games), but that didn't mean they necessarily needed the original monikers.
Another issue is that they're marketing toward a core audience this time and the Wii may drive those gamers away. We've seen the ignorance of this console's potential all over the internet. Nintendo needs to make this appealing and more importantly they need it to sell.
The Wii name isn't ...
