It has internal flash memory, supports SD cards and external HDDs.
I was actually quite happy to hear this. I've made good use of Street Pass on my 3DS and I was hoping I'd somehow be able to do the same thing with Wii U. Hopefully they'll make it so you can use your 3DS as oppose to just the clip mentioned in the article. I think it was a really neat idea and gives people incentive to keep their devices on their person.
Perhaps, but we are in a digital age. If you don't have a half-decent internet connection by now, you're probably better off sticking with a TV, DVD player and computer.
It's a smart idea. Physical software is released in more and more limited supply these days, so to put the game online will give the publisher the opportunity to introduce games to players at cheaper prices while still supporting the industry.
I think it's a perfectly decent option for both sides when compared to used games.
There was a lot of doom and gloom surrounding Wii as well, and it was the highest selling console this gen. Let's see what happens. Most of said doom and gloom articles appear to be written by big Apple fanatics who continue to see iPads as the future of gaming.
Why buy the Vita version if you already had any of one of the console versions? There's no multiplayer for any of the portable iterations, so it seems pretty pointless to me.
@torchic
Nintendo already promoted the controller as a wireless one. The only cables we've seen are the security cables and this new one which looks clearly detachable.
Also this is based on speculation of a game video from a publisher that isn't Nintendo. The article even says that Ubisoft was using wired dev kits. I say wait until E3.
Smart move, given the positivity I've seen people give to eShop getting full retail games.
And Microsoft and Sony don't?
Or even Valve or EA?
It certainly broadens the audience and increases player options. I think that's one thing that needs to be expanded upon other than technology; options.
Uhh, the portion of my comment focusing upon people who ignore positive news in regards to the Wii U and only focus on the negative aspect? The very portion of my comment you are consistently outright ignoring in your responses?
Last I recall, I was responding to you for making an ignorant statement, not attacking you for no reason at all. Secondly, if I misjudged your comment then fine, you have a point, but maybe you need to present yourself a little better instead of holdi...
Oh good. Maybe now people will shut up about new IPs they don't even intend to buy.
That cable also looks detachable. Based on the screen anyway. Nothing to see here.
The markets are completely different. iPads are not gaming systems, they're more like portable media tablets for dummies. They just happen to have some video games you can play on them.
Nintendo has stated it may support at least two. But I'm fairly sure that all of the early dev kits (which no doubt off which this was based) only supported one.
It's Sakurai. Did you see how much content he packed into Brawl and Kid Icarus Uprising? I doubt you have anything to worry about.
Wait for E3 to find out. We really won't learn anything concrete until then.
Sony and Microsoft survived for quite some time on the core market alone. I think from here on out if any of the big hardware producers bring out gaming hardware, they should focus on the core audience first and casual audience second. Nintendo learned the hard way that the casual crowd is not a particularly loyal one.
They learned their lesson with the 3DS. Games sell a game console, not the console itself. It seems Nintendo's philosophy for hardware in the future will follow suit.
You forgot to mention that said anonymous developer said their piece the day after April Fool's day.
