What does that mean? The console is capable of 1080p, it's just that early games won't run at that resolution. Don't exaggerate.
Or even the chest. These people have either watched a lot of old zombie movies or they're following The Zombie Survival Guide.
Best book ever, by the way.
@fatboyfsx
Considering the disagrees my comment got, yeah I guess so.
EDIT: @mr_mike
Don't get me wrong, I didn't like the conference either. It left a familiarly bad taste in my mouth from the '08 conference. But this is Nintendo. Just like either of the other two, they'll deliver eventually on such content.
The conference is a bust, but it doesn't mean the Wii U will be a bad console with lackluster cont...
I find it strange when people say they're angry for the lack of Smash Bros., launch date and price.
We knew ahead of time that these things would not be revealed, so why the anger towards them? The latter half of the conference inciting anger is what I understand. But not some of the other complaints.
@xflo360
If Retro is not prepared to show us their game, then I'd prefer that Nintendo waits until they're ready, lest we have another Smash Bros. 4 fiasco.
One of the glaring issues I have with Nintendo's conference is that there was absolutely no mention of online gaming. Is this online? Is New Super Mario Bros. U online? Why the lack of clarification?
The way I see it, if the general public got to see this conference it would not have been received so poorly. The folks actually there seem to be having a blast while the message the console was trying to convey was completely lost in translation.
I disagree with the tone of this article. These games don't always bank solely on nostalgia. I like Mario Galaxy more than I liked Mario 64. And I enjoyed Zelda Skyward Sword more than Ocarina of Time.
The games move forward plenty and the reason for that is because Nintendo is good at what they do, and what they do is present these older franchises in newer ways.
Was there a motion controlled beetle in A Link to the Past? Was there a water gun in Super M...
I had one of the older, white 360s a ways back. I used to keep it sideways in its cubicle. One day, I hard a loud SMACK and the thing was vertical. I never put up a console sideways without some sort of support or stand ever again.
I don't think it's fair to bar me from playing a game just because the publisher doesn't like how and where I bought it.
Some older values are values for a reason.
If they want to compete with used games, simply give me more value for buying it new. Like Nintendo does with Club Nintendo points.
Well, the bit involving Retro Studios made me feel a tad better. At least we know they're doing something. Not that we didn't before, but the acknowledgement will suffice until we get a reveal.
The point eagle21 is making is that yeah, the conference sucked and they completely misrepresented some of the games there. For example, it seems they made Nintendo Land seem a fuckload simpler than it actually was and I'm even more disappointed in them for that.
With that said, apparently Nintendo Land is actually a lot more promising than Nintendo made it seem at their own conference. Also, he does make a good point: Imagine if your favorite company, Microsoft or Sony, ...
Apparently they're banking on Nintendo Land, which is a dumb idea. If that's really the game they want to be the system seller, they did a horrid job of marketing it at the conference.
I say this because if the hands-on previews are any indication, it's that the game is a fun experience for both core and casual gamers. The problem is Nintendo's presentation of the game made it feel isolated toward the casual demographic. It's a bad first impression that ha...
Really now? Well, your entire company cheapens gaming. Your E3 conference proved it. There, I said it.
The Gamecube controller was my first controller with a second control stick that was not Sony's. About twenty minutes after playing with it and I was used to it right away. I reckon the same thing applies here.
I didn't like the conference either, but your comment comes off as extremely xenophobic...
I will still get a Wii U. I'm a Nintendo fan, I'm sure they'll give me games I like. I still think they missed a huge chance to pull in non-Nintendo core gamers though. It's a crying shame, to say the least.
It's as if they backpedaled at the last second to pander to the casual audience that abandoned the Wii.
I get the feeling no one at Nintendo gets it right now.
One would hope they take gamer feedback from all of this and try to market the Wii U differently, but I can't help but feel very skeptical at this point.
Yeah, you're right. Fail on my part. Won't let me edit it too. :/
