When the Wii was coming out, there was an incredible "wow" factor surrounding its controller though. One that appealed to core and casual gamers alike. Not saying it was the main feature, but I think it turned a few heads.
I assume they felt NSMBU would be enough.
I think it's harsh to say that the launch lineup does not look good. There are some good games in there. Definitely more than what the 3DS offered.
So is this another incident of positive Wii U news that goes completely unnoticed as compared to the more negative news that wind up getting the most heat on this site?
This was the kind of preview I was looking/hoping for. I wanted to hear what an individual, who specifically did not like Ninja Gaiden 3, had to say about the changes they made for this version.
It's nice to know that it fixes much of what was missing from the original version of the game. Looking forward to more previews.
Depends on how the less knowledgeable will take it. They could wind up confusing it with the Wii or they could recognize it as a successor, similarly to fans of Madden and Call of Duty games.
Then why did the Wii outsell two core consoles for almost an entire generation?
The header is ridiculous. If you're going to convey an opinion, speak only for yourself because that's the only person you can speak for when it boils right down to it.
Iwata recently said that the games showcased on Wii U so far are only utilizing half of its power. Wrap your head around that before saying it is not next generation.
Yeah the lukewarm response from people on the internet says otherwise. All I've heard from gamers is how the graphics on most of the revealed games don't showcase anything largely better than the competition's current hardware.
But if this proves to be true, then good. I would like to see better looking games on the platform, especially if only half of its power is being utilized.
I played this on my 360, I don't need to play it on Wii U. I'll pick up the ports for games I haven't played yet, like Batman, Ninja Gaiden and the to-be-released-later Aliens game.
"Nintendoland is a joke too."
You haven't played it yet. Neither have I. Every preview has been positive. Mind waiting to see if it's any good before judging?
Uhh... how exactly is this a bad thing? Am I missing something here?
Wasn't the whole reason people didn't like Friend Codes to begin with was they did not like inputting a series of digits in order to add friends?
If they're eliminating that then what the blue hell is the problem?
Reviews are not always right, you know. I hated Halo 3 and that had universal acclaim. I liked Duke Nukem Forever and damn near everyone hated it.
Sometimes you should check out a game instead of just listening to word of mouth.
Depends on how many people actually bother to use the Vita/PS3 combo. Given that not every PS3 owner is guaranteed to own a Vita (and that Vita is not selling very quickly right now) I doubt many developers want to invest in it without encouragement from Sony.
SmartGlass poses more of a threat, but given its rather laughable functionality demonstration at E3, I'd say it's not particularly threatening toward anything, let alone the Wii U.
Twelve years ago...? Twelve years ago was generation six, you goober. You couldn't download games onto ANYTHING other than a computer at that time!
PS2, Xbox, Gamecube... only one of those had downloadable content and that was Halo map packs on the Xbox. So what the hell are you talking about?
EA said they won't do BF3 for Wii U but they're making a game for it using its engine. At least I THINK so. Don't quote me on it.
tl;dr
It's a non issue as far as I'm concerned. It's a non essential feature. Zoom can be done with a touch based button just like it was done on the Wii.
It's beneficial to have it sure, but Nintendo's managed (pretty well, I might add) without it for almost a decade now. The Wii U is not an iPad. It has buttons. It could benefit from multitouch, but to claim that it needs it in order to be a quality product is ludicrous.
Do you even know what Japanese culture is like?
Also, if Iwata cared more about his shareholders than his staff, then why is it that this 20% cut occurred while Sony reportedly slashed 10,000 jobs due to their own losses?
Nintendo Land has better graphics if that's any consolation. Not GREAT graphics, but they're much better than that footage. For these more primitive looking games, I hope Nintendo at least cranks up the anti-aliasing.
Not gonna lie, this gameplay footage looks incredible. This looks like a true zombie survival game. Definitely picking this up ASAP.
Also on a slightly more humorous note, is it me, or does the narrator sound an awful lot like the lead character from the Ghost in the Shell TV show?
