It would be smarter to compare it to Diddy Kong Racing.
The problem is most movie tie-in games are very much a scam. They charge you $50 - $60 for a game that more than likely was in development for a handful of months. The only reason people buy them is because "Oh cool they made a game of the movie, this must be fun!" Parents do it with kids all the time.
Even I've purchased bad movie tie-ins, but I started approaching them much more cautiously at some point. I think the last one I ever played was a demo of Iron Ma...
Or maybe they just don't want to get into the same shit fest that Capcom keeps getting themselves into with timed exclusivity.
Nintendo's business model has always been different. I don't see the difference between them paying for exclusive titles when they can work with developers to make games for their platform instead as oppose to simply paying a developer to make a game and keep it on their platform. The former seems just as efficient and more cost effective ...
While my primary fandom lies with Nintendo, I do greatly appreciate Sony for doing things uniquely (when they're not making their own Wii or Smash Bros. knock-off, mind you).
For a while I wasn't interested in the PS3 because I already had a 360 and a Wii. Lo and behold, a few years later my PS3 gets the most play time currently and I'm looking forward to having it and a Wii U to play. I'm of course also interested in the PS4.
Jesus Christ that header seems so ironically hypocritical...
I played that game and I thought it was a sack of shit. They made the controls so wonky that it felt like it was for three year olds when it was a game meant for adults. There wasn't even an option to change the sensitivity of the controls.
If there was one game that was a shameful disappointment it was Lair, especially since that was the game that ended Factor5's career as a development studio.
Your mobile phone also likes to try and rip you off.
TMNT and Pokemon Yellow anyone?
My hopes are high as well. My hope is more positive reveals will come during TGS or perhaps during another Nintendo Direct conference prior to launch.
Details on the upcoming Retro and Monolith titles for example, as well as more about the online system (obviously) and what the achievement system will be like.
That's a shame. I like Neversoft. Was hoping they could do something more interesting. Last I heard they were going to do a sci-fi shooter. Either it's CoD: Future Warfare or Activision axed their project for whatever this 'new' game will be.
Awesome. Now show this to us please. We'd actually REALLY love to see it. Some time before the launch, preferably.
Harmonix created both Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Unless you want to accuse them of ripping themselves off.
Rock Band is like Guitar Hero, yes. But they added drums and vocals and promoted full band gaming and later upgraded each one with Pro mode and Harmonies for vocals. This is evolution.
Guitar Hero then began taking those upgrades from Rock Band. This, on the other hand, is not evolution.
Ideas can be improved upon. If you present an old idea in a new way, then absolutely it's evolution. But if you're carbon copying, then no.
Guitar Hero to Rock Band = Evolution
Smash Bros. to Playstation All-Stars =/= Evolution

To be honest that's what I was hoping for, but honestly I can live with Wii U. Heck, I got used to Wii so it's not a huge deal.
Lol I mentioned the wrong game. He didn't direct Twilight Princess either, he only produced it. Same with Skyward Sword.
He produced Skyward Sword, he did not direct it.
I remember a lot of people wanted the Wii U to be renamed to "The Nintendo." It's amusing, to say the least.
What about Assassin's Creed III and Ninja Gaiden III: Razor's Edge?
Yes and no. They're doing some things very right (social interaction and ease of use) and some things wrong (lack of focus for online gaming).
I think it can only improve over time. 3DS did not start out perfectly, but there is now a pretty varied selection of games with online multiplayer.
I say release around eight or ten of them at launch and release the rest within a few weeks of each other cyclically. I like having a steady stream of content as oppose to having it all shoved down my throat at the same time.
I hope that's the case. Otherwise I can't think of much justification for withholding such crucial information from the public.
