I reckon to be a Nintendo HD console that offers a variety of methods to play games as oppose to just one that we're used to. The novelty I think is in the different functionality it comes with; touch, motion and classic controls.
Well the fanboy/console wars would seem a little more nationalistic. Sony/Nintendo vs. Microsoft or Japan vs. America.
Of course I could be wrong. Interesting to think about actually...
Sony's power with Nintendo's controller ideas. Hmm...
Huh, neato. I love mods like these. All they do is cater to people's preferences. A friend of mine does work like this and he's really good at it. Once provided me a 360 controller that looked very much like a Dualshock controller.
Here's a thought: Maybe it's so people who like the demo will eventually go out and buy the game itself?
My friends and I played Left 4 Dead on the 360 in demo form for a month without ever having purchased the full game.
I'm not necessarily saying I agree with this decision, but it really is not all that big a deal, especially if you like a game enough to play its demo that many times.
Oh great. More Resident Evil games for me NOT to buy.
I already own Revelations and I'm not keen on the idea of double dipping and I hated OpRac City. The idea of that game getting a sequel really floors me.
@dantesparda
Except it's not full games, it's just demos. And secondly I don't see anyone defending this decision. I personally just don't see what the big deal is. The 3DS has this and I recall very little complaining.
"Instead of all you wii fanboys defending every stuid decision nintendo makes, how bout you's actually bitch about it and maybe get nintendo to change it."
Right, because labeling people fanboys a...
I've never played a demo more than two or three times. So it's a non-issue to me. Usually after the first play through I'm able to tell if I actually want to play the full version.
Because he didn't say it was weak hardware. He said it was important to balance power with the controller functionality.
A few website analyses of the specs does not prove much to me. The games will ultimately show what this thing is made of.
I have no fantasies that the Wii U is some mystery megaconsole. It's a small leap above its competition (games like Nano Assault proved that to me) but a leap nonetheless.
Will you really choose to play any demo more than five or so times?
Your idea of firing back an argument is by blocking me without giving me an opportunity to retort? Cowardly method of debating, no?
Over twenty games, actually. But yes, it would be better to wait and see.
An upgrade typically is added onto something that already exists. If the Wii U was an attachment to the Wii (similar to the Sega CD/32X) I'd agree, but it's a brand new console.
By definition, coming a generation after the Wii, it is a next generation console.
I would not say so entirely. Generally the consumers do. Though sometimes an outlet can have somewhat of an influence. Nintendo's ideas have been emulated for a while now. Motion control and handheld gaming to name two things.
Why the hell are you including Virtual Console games? I wouldn't count the Ratchet and Clank collection since they're just ports of old games.
Another sci-fi shooter?
A PC can be incredibly powerful, much more so than whatever the PS4 or Xbox 720 will be like. But a game will only run as well as it was developed for that platform.
This is a port sir. A hastily put together port at that. When you have a game that was built from the ground up on this platform AND it looks like shit, then we'll talk.
We're past the age of things like the Virtual Boy and the Atari Jaguar. Gaming is too big for platforms to just up and fail like that.
If that were the case then Vita would be deader than the doom articles suggest. It's nearly impossible for a hardware manufacturer to so much as ALLOW a console to fail that miserably.
And I don't know what's more ridiculous, these doom articles or the fanboys who tend to comment on them.
"Let's give the Wii U some time before passing judgment."
I wish more gamers and "journalists" possessed this attitude whenever it came to new hardware. Seriously, we've been getting these stupid DOOMED articles for a while on platforms like 3DS, Vita, etc.
I really wears thin on my nerves when people say that the 3DS/Wii U are DOA or that the Vita is a dead platform because of slow sales. It's crap and it's just meant to g...
I never said you couldn't. The doom articles on here are ALWAYS bullshit, for both Sony and Nintendo.
People love negative press. This community in particular is ridiculously and stupidly guilty of it.
I'm not judging the Vita at all by its launch games. I KNOW it's quality hardware. However my argument is that the library doesn't cater to my interests right now. I will pick up a Vita when I know it's getting games I want.
That depends on which smart people actually comment on this site. I've received a plethora of disagrees for comments that did nothing more than state facts and more or less leave my personal thoughts out. So go figure.
