That's pretty much what I've been getting at for the past handful of weeks.
The Wii U's weak January sales are cause and effect and nothing more. It was literally just after the biggest consumer event of the year and no new games came out for the it at the time. In fact, the biggest release in the following month was delayed for a little over half a year. You can't move hardware without software and right now the Wii U has nothing new that you can see on shelv...
It seems like Capcom really wants people to pick up both versions in conjunction with one another. The thing is they've done everything except bundle the damn games together (sans for the UK).
It sold over 3 million units in two months. When the next holiday season comes along and there are more games for it, what makes you think sales won't pick up when Nintendo's household name is already popular with both fans and families?
Also, don't call it a 360 when it clearly is more powerful. http://www.youtube.com/watc...
The problem with this guy is a console needs games to sell. These guys just delayed a Wii U game (a completed one at that) and it has suffered a two month long drought as a result.
@auragenz
The Wii U is not six years old; it just came out. How could you have possibly mistaken my comment in that context?
The 360 and PS3 are both over half a decade old and their software libraries are very sizable. The Wii U has had a fraction of that time in the market, has been proven to be stronger than the 360/PS3 (look up Criterion's Need For Speed U port) and is only in the month of March gaining new content.
So no kidding the ...
Oh my god, an assessment based on FACTS. Bubble for you sir.
The man must be tough as nails if he's able to grit his teeth through all of that mess. I hope his arm feels better and development continues to go smoothly.
Six year old hardware with massive software libraries vs. four month old console with new games coming out only in its FIFTH month.
Context.
Sorry. I should have specified the context. I was speaking in general terms, not because the article made any sort of accusations.
I don't agree with Cliffy B on a lot of the stuff he says, but I think it's fair to say that he's as entitled to his opinion as gamers are entitled to ignore it. The only really good game I know he made was Gears of War 3. The first one was bland as hell and the second one was a glitchy mess.
Anyway, you made some pretty damn solid points. Good post.
"Really...bitter. Stating an opinion from my point of view is me being bitter"
Hmm, let's see.
"[Nintendo fans] are the worst type of fanboys in my opinion"
If I rewrote that statement with Sony fans at the head, you honestly think anyone here would find that acceptable? Your reasoning for it is even more offensive.
"because instead of wanting Nintendo to catch up with the gaming industry they'...
While the open world idea may be worth looking into, your vehicles suggestion is, with all due respect, a really stupid idea.
Vehicles don't belong in the core gameplay of a platformer. Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts taught us that little lesson already. Mario and Mario Kart are separate entities and ought to remain as such and evolve in their own ways. Otherwise it will result in IP cannibalism like ModNation racers (amazing game) and LittleBigPlanet Karting (lackluster ...
Eliminate the DRM and find a way to give more value to their PC games (optimization for modern PC hardware would probably suffice). That's pretty much all they have to do.
Wow, someone is unmistakably bitter.
I think I'll stick to liking what I like as oppose to hating anything that doesn't come from my preferred publisher. Worse yet is that your arguments for Sony being hated on are almost identical to mine for Nintendo.
Whatever. I'll just leave this here.

@firelogic
How is it amusing to you when people consistently mistaken the Wii U as either weaker or just on par with seven year old hardware?
Why the hell is it pathetic when new and concrete information reveals that it's actually a stronger piece of hardware? Shouldn't you be criticizing people for spreading the false information to begin with?
Gladly. Just as soon as detractors stop comparing the Wii U to the 360 and PS3.
Wait... Mario Sunshine and Galaxy had hubs too... sure, neither were in the Mushroom Kingdom/Peach's Castle, but that doesn't make them improper hubs.
That said, I wouldn't mind the next hub taking place in the castle again.
@gamer42
Yes I did. Exactly what was so wrong with my initial comment?
Winning is success though, and success does not necessarily mean you have to do better than your competition. The Playstation 3 spent the better portion of its generation in last place, but it's still a successful platform in the end.
You can't "out Sony" Sony. That's why I appreciate both Sony and Nintendo. They do different things that I like.
Microsoft's stuff I don't like as much.
Okay, I own the Wii U version of the game and it runs almost exactly the same as my brother's copy on his 360. Aside from framerate issues it's pretty much the same game. And considering its has optional control styles and Off-TV mode, it offers more features than that of the PS3 and 360 versions.
That's not what I call a "poor" or "terrible" port so much as an adequate one. So don't exaggerate.
