The problem with integration is that I don't really like putting tons of wear and tear on my gaming console by using it for non-gaming activities. But I suppose that Mr & Mrs. Casual will find these new features interesting.
That comic is spot on. Thank you for sharing.
PS: Manny Calavera - excellent!
I have to agree. I know this is just a rumor, but if it was true, I would say it is probably just another clever way to make gamers pay more money to play the games we already own. If you don't mind that good for you, but myself I'll just stick to dragging my old PS2 out of storage whenever I feel the need to revisit my old gaming library.
The motto for the current gaming generation (no matter what system you play on) seems to be 'Let's milk these fool gamers...
I thought the demo was interesting, but not enough to make me want to run out and get it. I might pick it up eventually.
I wouldn't mind shorter games IF they cost less, but they don't. They can certain make more short games, but I for one will not be buying them on Day 1, I'll wait until the price drops to around $29 and if am still interested I'll pick it up.
This is very interesting to me, I might need to revisit Skyrim for this.
I was just thinking the same exact thing.
I could be wrong, but I suspect it is the EA influence. They seem to think that every game requires multiplayer. I will be passing on this game.
Isn't is kinda ignorant and arrogant to proclaim that any popular franchise should die? If a Franchise has enough loyal followers asking for it to continue that should be enough to justify the continued release of that series. As this comment section proves different gamers have different likes and dislikes, so how about we accept the fact that just because we don't like something it doesn't give us a right to put it on it's deathbed.
I would have liked a few other articles mentioned as well. It would be great to have a full list of gaming sites that think gamers are 'entitled brats', so I could avoid them. As a gamer I want to use gaming websites that care about bringing unbiased news to gamers, as opposed to the ones that simply serve as marketing tools for game companies.
I agree. I have recently become a fan of Forbes.
I think the thing that surprised me most about the whole ME3 drama was the unprofessional way IGN and other gaming websites reacted to it. While I do understand that reporters have their own opinions, I also think that they need to be mindful of their audience. They could have took a stand towards not changing the ending, without insulting gamers, but instead they took the low road. I know I won't be using IGN for gaming...
Did the first Borderland have on disc DLC? I don't recall, so I am curious.
I agree with NukaCola. I don't consider Borderlands to be a shooter, because it has RPG elements and tons of loot. To me it feels more like BioShock and Fallout then it does Call of Duty or Gears of War.
This is actually a good article, and I suspect the comments above come from people who are judging on title alone, without reading the article. No big, we all do it sometimes, but this is one time I recommend actually reading the article, because Forbes actually takes the pro-gamer approach as opposed to the 'entitled' gamer approach. Which is a breath of fresh air, when you consider many of the gaming websites are very anti-gamer pro-game developer.
I think that it is less about the $60 a year and more about the overall cost of gaming, which can get pretty expensive. I can certainly afford $60 a year, and up until this year I was a gold subscriber, but this year I decided I was spending too much money on my gaming hobby and now I have decided to be more careful about where my gaming dollar goes, so my Gold subscription was the first to go.
If anything causes a melt down in the video game industry it will be corporate greed.
Buggy games + Too Short Games + Overpriced DLC + Day 1 DLC + Online Passes + Online Fees + Plot to Kill off Used games = Screw Next Generation Gaming, I'll just play what I already own and spend my money on something else.
I loved Overlord and Shadow Broker, both are examples of good DLC, however I felt the rest was overpriced for what was included, and I disliked the idea of having to download part of your team separately, in my opinion all teammates should be included on the disc and DLC should be for expanding the game with new missions.
Hopefully these ideas will stay as rumors, but I suppose we can't we really blame the gaming companies for acting like greedy douches and taking advantage of gamers when a lot of us can't even be bothered to stick up for ourselves when we are being taken advantage of, and some of us are even willing to defend their nasty business practices to the point of insulting anyone who points out a game companies flaws, or suggests that gaming companies strive for quality instead of mediocrity....
Should Entertainment Companies Listen to Their Fans?
When a large majority of their most loyal fanbase are telling a company they have a problem with their product they should certainly listen, because these are the people who are buying their game. However that doesn't mean they should listen to every single nutcase that has a complaint, doing that would be silly.
On the other hand they have every right not to listen, but then they should not be surpri...
There will always be some pissed off fans, but I have to say that EA tends to do 'piss off' better then most.
If they are REALLY concerned they should focus on the following:
Proper quality control - don't let buggy half finished games out the door, and if a bug does get past you please patch it quickly.
Release full games and save the DLC pimping for later.
