I suppose the trick is to make a linear experience not feel like a linear experience. Some developers are able to do this, while others are not.

If you want to lead me down a road for hours on end, that is fine, but please make it an interesting road.

You know what is really sad? Every time anyone uses the word 'entitled' I just cringe and stop reading.

I don't know what is worse, fans unfairly bashing a game on metacritic, or fans who call anyone who doesn't step up to kiss the boots of developers/publishers 'entitled'. Both sides are very silly if you ask me.

I highly doubt anyone takes fan reviews on metacritic seriously anymore, which is kinda a shame, since there are probably...

You make an excellent good point. I am sure that Kotaku is getting more attention from all this.

I really miss the days when I could actually trust video game news, these days we seem to have three types of news journalist.

1) The type who lick the boots of game developers/publishers for perks and exclusives.

2) The type that follows the sleazy tabloid approach in order to grab hits to their website

3) The only ones I stil...

You said:

"They can charge you 800$ for a phone thats an inch longer:"

And I said you are foolish for paying $800 for a phone. (not necessarily YOU, but people in general, since perhaps that was not clear)

I can read just fine, but I cannot read your mind. ; )

I am simply saying that I think it is foolish to waste your money on overpriced phones and it is just as foolish to waste your money on overpriced game syste...

An eye for an eye is the other side of that coin, and it is the side I much prefer.

We live in a world where people think it is okay to go around acting like scumbags, because they think they are immune to consequences. I believe that Karma will give them what they deserve in the end. Perhaps the person you wronged will not be the person to pay you back, and you might not even recognize it as payback, but I do think we all get what we deserve in the end.

You are foolish if you pay $800 for a phone. You are also foolish if you pay $700 for a PS4.

But then again this world is full of foolish people, the same people who bought houses they couldn't afford, which started the financial meltdown that we are all still experiencing. Foolish people will be foolish.

If you can afford a $800 phone or a $700 PS4 good for you, but I'll be keeping my money in a good savings account until the price drops to a more ...

If you are a murderer and someone murders you, you deserved it. If you are a thief and someone steals from you, you deserved it. If you are Kotaku and your articles often cross the line... well you see where I am going with this. Karma can be a bitch sometimes.

Well, can't speak for anyone else, but I skipped Borderlands 2, because I didn't like the whole Season's Pass nonsense, and I skipped Assassins Creed 3 for that same reason.

I have a problem with any game that releases and 'feels' like it is missing something, only to have that something show up later in DLC. I say release a full product first and then think of ways to add to it with good, lengthy DLC.

As for ME3 DLC, well, what we have...

I think the important thing is that BioWare is trying to make DA3 better than DA2 was.

DA3 needs to be a truly perfect game if it has any chance of pleasing the still angry masses, so they certainly have their work cut out for them. Sadly, if we were placing bets on their success I think the odds would be mostly against them.

And yet, I really hope that they succeed. Although the ending of ME3 killed a lot of my faith in them, I am a fan of the DA univers...

I buy new games, unless I am buying an older game and used is my only option. But it would bother me to lose that option, and I have to say that this idea really annoys me a lot. Even if it is just a rumor based on a patent, a part of me suspects that the idea is indeed floating around Sony corporate. I don't like it at all, so perhaps I will buy my next handful of PS3 games used, just to exercise my rights, before they try to take them away.

@bigfish

I buy my games new too, but I still don't like the idea of basic consumer rights being taken away from us.

Also your little insult makes you sound like a 5 year old, so perhaps your mom is still buying all your games for you and that would explain why you have no concept of gaming budget that many gamers live with.

@Ranma1

If we give them an inch they will take mile. Any doubt about that just look at how DLC has evolved from being 'a little something on the side, that will not be missed for those who chose to pass on it' to releasing short games and making us pay for the rest of the game piece by piece by bloody piece. Look at how quality control has went from let's test this game and get it right before release to let's ignore the bugs and let the consumer test our pr...

"These are dark times we´re living in the gaming world, with all these DLC BS."

AGREED!

Though it really isn't just Square Enix, because EA, Capcom, and numerous other gaming companies are just as bad.

But as much as we hate it, I don't see it changing anytime soon, because for every gamer who is smart enough to say "No friggen way" to a subpar gaming experience and overpriced crappy DLC, their is a gamer who...

Yes she is bland, but more then her being bland her games are bland. Like her they are pretty, but lack anything of substance. If FFXIII was a better game, FF fans would probably like her just fine. It doesn't help that instead of moving on to the next game in the series SquareEnix keeps wanting us to revisit the FFXIII world.

If we keep going down the path which leads to more Season's Pass and Day 1 DLC schemes, forced social media nonsense, and buggy and lazy games then you can keep your next generation consoles.

I want a full game for my money, and I want it 100% playable without patches on day 1. Spend your social media budget on quality control, and stop forcing Multiplayer modes into games that are perfectly fine without it. Then maybe I will think about buying a new console next gen....

I agree, EA needs to step back from the social networking bandwagon, and put that money/manpower towards improved quality control.

I don't leave the house on Black Friday. I spend a couple hours shopping on line, then I play games all day. Yearly tradition, and I don't have to worry about losing sleep and getting trampled to death.

I saw the Borderlands 2 deal on the lightening deal, but they were already 100% claimed, so I missed it. Guess I'll try again on Cyber Monday.

I got my discount. About a week after they pulled the offer due to the issue of people taking advantage of it they sent out e-mails to everyone who took the survey properly. Not sure why you didn't get it though.

Well they also gave out free copies of Wreckateer, but sadly it is a Kinect game, so it is of no use to anyone who doesn't use Kinect. Part of me thinks, well it's better than them not doing anything, but it also makes me think that they really don't care about any gamer who hasn't jumped on their Kinect bandwagon. But it's free, so we shouldn't complain.
