Good point, but I notice that when people point out grammar mistakes they often miss the mistakes in their own comments. We are human so we make mistakes, I know I do, so I try not to be too hard on others. That was the only point I was trying to make, but I like your idea of helping others by pointing out their mistakes too.
If you go into your favorite restaurant and you find a bug in your meal do you just eat it and keep your mouth shut because you think it is rude and disrespectful to send it back? Well perhaps some very whimpy people do, but others will politely tell the restaurant owner that there is a bug in their meal. They do this so that the restaurant owner is aware of the problem and can correct it before their favorite restaurant goes out of business. This may be a different business, but the rules a...
I don't really think this makes gamers look bad or petty at all.
If anything these people are simply trying to send a message to BioWare in a mature and interesting way. Much more civilized then leaving zero score reviews, and other such nonsense. The fact that sick kids will benefit from this protest is anything but bad or petty, it is a brilliant.
You know I REALLY want to say that is not the case, because I want to believe that BioWare is not that sneaky... and yet a part of me cannot help but wonder considering their overwhelming desire to find new ways to introduce DLC. Remembers all the annoying DLC promotional nonsense for DA2 and shivers at playing that horrible online game to get an accessory or something like that... yeah, maybe they did plan this.
I think we all did that. Since talk about the ending started before the game was even released, I totally avoided reading about it and told myself it was just a bunch of people who were bitter about the DLC. This was easy to do since the entire game leading up to the ending was pretty amazing. But suddenly you hit the ending and BOOM! Instant let down! Kinda like people must feel when the rollercoaster they are riding on suddenly jumps the track and crashes. Yeah that's the feeling. <...

'Meanwhile in poor countries where children are dying because of hunger and diseases.....'
There are tons of charities where YOU can donate to help that too. World Vision, Help the children, etc. These large charities take in millions of donations every year to help the poor in other countries.
Since these are gamers they have decided to help a small charity help supply sick (and sometimes dying) children with games to p...
Or maybe they are just very passionate about ME.
We all have different views on what is 'stupid'. For example, the use of 'facepalm' makes me cringe, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't use it and I won't call you 'stupid' for using it.
And I don't mean that as an insult, just an observation about how we all think differently.
I always think it is bad form to point out the mistakes of others, since I know I make plenty of my own. Plus whenever someone does this they almost always make a mistake in their own comment. ; )
We need Gamestop because they help to keep prices competitive. Imagine if GameStop and Best Buy went out of business. Sure we could always shop at Amazon, but if Amazon knows they have no 'real' competition they have no reason to offer those good pre-order bonus deals. Sure there are other places to buy games, but the top 3 places are GameStop, Best Buy or Amazon. We need all three around. Plus who in their right mind really wants to see another company go under?
The only thing that the ending did right was that it got people talking about it. Sadly, all the talk is bad.
Like most of us I enjoyed the game up to the ending and then I sat there and thought WTF just happened? A few days later and I am still not sure WTF happened. But I have decided to accept the fact that the game was great, but the ending was bad.
Instead of being annoyed I have made up my own ending in my head. Perhaps in addition to Shepard dying, ...
I agree that if EVERYONE boycotted every game due the fact that the company pissed us off with DLC, buggy games or what have you, it would send the message.
However, not EVERYONE is not going to do that. Gamers tend to have selective memories. Gamers bitch and moan, but the next time the company that they were all bitching about announces a new game they all jump on the hype bandwagon for that game.
If the entire gaming world suddenly decided to ban together ...
Pre-order exclusivity is #1 on my list of things that I really dislike about the gaming industry. I think it bothers me more than Day 1 DLC for all the reasons that this article mentions. What makes it even worse is that sometimes when you pick up your game you end up not getting the bonus and if you complain about it you get told that they ran out.
It would be nice if gaming companies would just 'do the right thing', and give back the loyalty that gamers give the...
I think that the bigger question isn't was the content on the disc or not = obviously we know that for whatever reason some of it was. The bigger question is what can EA/BioWare change in their business practices to regain the trust and loyalty that has been lost?
I feel that it is very sad that a series like Mass Effect has been so negatively affected by this Day 1 DLC fiasco. Sure there are other controversies surrounding the game, like the ending and the Tali thing, ...
Agreed!
I think the biggest problem is that they don't really make sense and they leave a lot unanswered. Plus from what I have heard all 3 endings are pretty much the same, but I only finished 1 so I don't know what changes with the other two. I also did not know about a secret ending? Maybe that one is better, I plan on replaying the game so I hope so.
This is very true. I think the ending would have made a lot more sense if Shepard would have gotten off the ship at the end as well as all of his team, and then we learn they have all passed on and the ship has landed on their afterlife paradise if he made good decisions.
The only problem with this is that the same gamers who complain about Day 1 DLC would complain about this, and it would create another controversy. I can picture it now. "BioWare purposely left out a good ending so that they could sale it as DLC later."
Although I would love to see better ending, I won't be holding my breath, and I am not certain that we should be paying for it.
@Hovis
"But maybe Harbinger missed my squad members? If yes why did they leave me there to die?"
This is what I keep thinking about too. No matter how I look at it, I cannot imagine any of Shepard's team members being alive, but not trying to save him. The way it ends it feels like everyone just abandoned him, and ran away like cowards, and that just does not make any sense to me.
I agree, although I won't say that the game is perfect, in my opinion, it did more right than it did wrong. I do think that at times the wave after endless wave of enemies became exhausting, but on the other hand it sort of felt more real to come out of a mission feeling totally drained. My only real complaint would of course be the ending, but overall the game pleased me.
Agreed, violence in video game should be a bigger concern for parents then sex in video games. plus the sex in ME3 is no worse than what they might see in a lot of TV shows. Plus if parents talked to their kids about sex instead of pretending it is something that does not exist we would probably have a lot less teen pregnancy.
