Personally I feel that the market already has plenty of good multiplayer games, and it used to have plenty of good singleplayer games as well, but now all the good single player games are adding multiplayer modes and in most cases it hurts the singleplayer experience.
I don't expect it to change though, so instead of letting it get me down, I have simply started to research each game purchase to make certain that the singleplayer experience is worth the full asking pric...
Just as you have the right to complain about their complaining, others have the right to complain about this.
I don't care if we are talking about DLC or gas prices, I think it is better that consumers speak their mind, instead of just opening their wallets and saying 'no problem, just take whatever you want'. Especially in this economy, people work hard to earn a living, and people should be questioning the quality of what they pay for.
Don't even get me started on EA. Since ME3 I have put all games carrying a EA logo on my avoid list. It is difficult too, since they control a few of my favorite series, but it can't be helped. These days their games always end up letting me down in one area or another. Either the game is buggy, or they cut out half the game, or both, and I am just tired of being let down by a company that I used to really admire.
True, but I also think that some (not all) gamers are getting smarter about what they buy and how they buy it.
I know my buying practices have changed. A couple of years ago I was spending over $2000 a year on games. This year I expect to spend less then $500, because I no longer pre-order and buy games on day 1. Instead I wait and pick them after I confirm that they are really worth the asking price - and more and more often I end up picking them up after the price drops,...

More sites need to understand that dragging a story out by forcing visitors to click on numerous pages only annoys visitors, and also makes them less likely to click on the advertising on the page, since you sort of feel like the site is cheating or something.
Personally I didn't buy Borderlands 2, because I was disappointed with what you just pointed out. I figure I will pick it up later when I find it on sale somewhere instead. Buy doing that I can still get the game plus the DLC for a fair price. But no matter which publisher/developer is doing this, the current DLC practice is unfair to gamers.
This is such a hard subject. I think most of us can agree that when it is priced fairly and extends the game DLC can be a very welcome addition to a game. The problem is that more and more often gamers are being short changed on the main game, because developers/publishers are more focused on gamers wallets then they are on creating a good gaming experience.
It is a sad trend, but the reality is that it probably continue to get worse not better, because gamers WILL buy this ...
It was a good story though, but yep I was just thinking the same thing too many pages.
Good article actually, touches on most of my pet peeves.
I see. Well since I am looking for a gaming console and not a new entertainment system, I guess I better pass on the Wii U. Thanks for making that an easy choice for me Reggie.
Well I suppose a lot of people felt like crying after finishing ME3, but not necessary for the right reason.
Seriously though I will admit to tearing up about Mordin.
@neoandrew
I have to agree with AznGaara & Carl_Shocker. I played all three games twice, I did every single side mission, and I did pretty much everything there was to do in Single player, but my war assets stayed far below what I needed to get the best ending. Perhaps it is possible, but without MP it is seems overly difficult.
Forcing MP and Social Media onto their customers is one of EA/BioWare's top priorities. They are not even trying to hide ...
Took the words right out of my mouth. I was so annoyed by the MP addition, not because I mind them adding MP for people who are into that, but because it was forced on people who would rather stick with Single Player.
My thoughts exactly, this feels like DLC that should have been part of the game in the first place.
It is good that they learned a lesson with the horse armor DLC, but is is unfortunate that other companies thought it was a brilliant idea and decided to capitalize on it.
misogynistic - hating women in particular
Although I am avoiding any game with an EA logo on the label, I would make an exception for this game IF:
They don't force Multi-player on us. I don't care if the game includes it, just keep it totally separate from my single player experience.
The ending ties up all loose threads and doesn't leave us wondering what happens next. I still have a lot of questions about DA2 that will never be answered, because they cancelled the expansion.

I think it is fine to have brand loyalty, however I do have a problem with people who use ugly words and/or tactics while trying to get their point across. I am all for rational discussion, but there is a difference between calmly stating your opinion and aggressively forcing your beliefs on others. When you think about it this has been going on forever and not just in the gaming arena. Hitler is an extreme example, but at its core it really is the same type of thinking. The whole 'I bel...
I know, It's like a guy with no feet boycotting shoes.
I used to have subscriptions to every video game magazine out there, but over the past couple of years I have ended up cancelling every single one. These days I hold off on buying games, and spend time actually listening to what other gamers are saying, before I buy the game. Sure that means I sometimes have to dig through a mountain of fake reviews to get the real story, but it still works better then trusting the professional reviews that rarely bother to mention things like bugs and game l...
