Why are we even concerned with Japan sales? Last I knew this was a US site. Someone buying a console in Japan doesn't effect us in the US.
I wanna know US sales, so I know which console has the best and largest online community. That is what affects YOU, the gamer.
Show some US stats and compare those. The other side of the world doesn't concern me. I need to know what everyone in the US is playing.
I think pre-orders (and new games) should include freebies like Avatar Icons, Wallpapers, 1 credit toward a future map pack, themes, etc.
I hate how you buy a game... then have to PAY for themes and crap. If you buy Halo3, you should also get the Halo3 theme.
But I like the additional content like golden guns or special outfits. It gives the hardcore dedicated players a way to stand out. As long as the additional content doesn't give them an unfair advantage.
...
You only get the gold warhammer, which an ok weapon, and it's online only.
It is kinda neat to play online and see guys with a gold gun, and know they've been around for a while.
If they were REALLY smart... they woulda made it a Golden Lancer. You KNOW everyone woulda preordered that hands down. Everyone uses the lancer anyway.
Horde mode is freakin' sweet.
My 3 buddies and I played Horde mode on Hardcore last night for hours. The highest we got was level 18. That crap is crazy. Some crazy enemies in there. I don't even remember seeing some of them in the game.
People who are looking to buy systems this year are looking toward hardcore systems. Anyone who wanted a "family machine" already has a Wii. Why would they want 2 family systems?
Gamers who are looking for alternative gaming solution to their Wii systems, won't be going for the same crap they've had to put up with on the Wii. They'll want something a little more hardcore and indepth, things the Wii lacks.
Pushing Gears2 and Resistance2 will probably be whe...
I'm sure they'll be free eventually. They're probably a timed release... then either charge a small fee or offer them free.
I really liked the extra's. I got the golden gun, 5 maps, and a free theme.
I'd like to see more games come with free themes and a special (colored) weapon. It's better then them offering them as downloads which cost extra money. I'd like to see them come with avatar icons and avatar accessories once NXE comes out.
It does offer ex...
It is very valid.
It isn't comparing HD-DVD. It's comparing DVD's with Bluerays.
And it is every bit true. I'm not saying BlueRays ARE going to be the next Laser disc... but I agree that most people aren't buying Blueray.
90% of Blueray players owned are PS3's. Just because your PS3 has a Blueray player IN IT... doesn't mean Blueray is the next great medium. Atari, NES, SNES, Genesis, and N64 were all on Cartridges, but I didn't see them being the next ...
I've seen them for like <$35 bucks online.
Aerith in FF7 had me tear up.
The first pass through I put a lot of energy into getting her beefed up as she was one of my main characters. When she died... I had a horrible party since I primarily played with Cloud, Aerith, and rotated a third.
Finishing the game the first time was really hard.
The second time through I got it on with Tifa.
HDMI cables and headsets aren't the topic here.
On-Track: I can see this working. Just like games on a PC now. The graphics are high-res and designed for the cutting edge hardware (Xbox 720) but will work in older hardware simply by reducing some of the graphical settings.
That would work IF:
The Xbox 720 was on DVD discs.
The games could see what system you are on and scale automatically.
I personally think they mean that they will start to ...
DVD had lots to offer over VHS. Initially the big thing about DVD's were supposed to be the fact that you can "Skip over the first hour of commercials and previews". Plus the fact that DVD had so much more quality that could be seen on standard TV's. Plus DVD's were supposed to be "Cheaper to manufacture and thus cheaper for the Consumer".
When DVD's were introduced they were the same price as VHS counterparts. So you weren't losing money over and over again ...
Its basically like Halo 3's forge. You can make your own levels, by using only a set of tools. So every user made map is basically the same, just arranged differently.
I agree that UT mods are a different beast entirely. You don't take a map and rearrange it... you build new weapons, powerups, enemies, skins, maps, vehicles, styles, etc.
UT without mods is pointless.... which is why I haven't played it since good ole' UT days.
Hard drives are like memory. They're expensive when they first come out, then slowly come down, then slowly get more expensive as they're phased out.
The reason is because of business servers. Servers don't get replaced as often as workstations, especially if its working like it should. Older hardware can only support older devices, like 72Pin Memory chips.
My buddy works for a company in Texas that takes old memory bars and replaces the chips with higher capacity ch...
You can buy a 20gb Pro for $199. All the 20gb models were clearanced in way for the 60gb models.
The Arcade CAN handle the new desktop. The arcade comes with everything it needs to download and install it. The issue is when gamers have their memory cards full from arcade games and demos...
But if you purchased an Arcade... and still use the included small memory card... then obviously you don't care much about hardcore gaming or new desktops.
Out of the box, the arcade comes with all the memory it needs to use the new XBE.
NOW aside from that, Micro...
A harddriveless 360 makes great competition to the harddriveless Nintendo Wii.
The PS2 didn't have a HDD standard and that didn't stop game developers. If a game required a HDD, it stated on the game box. A simple solution would be to package those games that NEED a HDD with a HDD as an alternative.
Some people find it easier to make big purchases in steps. Thats why credit cards are so popular. You end up paying a lot more for it... but you can have it now vs waiti...
I'm sure they'll have a Gears 2 package.
Walmart usually lets you simply pick 2 games from a list for a set price when purchased with a console. Which I like better.
Viva Pinata 2 would be another good combo.
I'm sure both Nintendo and Sony have buildings stuffed full of Windows machines that I'm sure are heavily discounted.
Just because companies compete in one market doesn't mean they don't work together in another. In this case, companies want to make money. If the game is already made and the only thing holding it back is licensing and Nintendo is the keymaster.
The game is a potential money maker. You know as well as I that Nintendo AND Microsoft would benefit great...
Goldeneye for the Wii would be super sweet. If both versions had online multiplayer it would be a good boost for all parties. I don't see why anyone would want to keep this tied down.
I'd have to plug my Wii up for this release.
lol, that is crazy but not what I thought. Before I watched it I thought it would send you WAY Far away... not just down the street a little.
I wonder what would happen if you held the button down and left your character swinging for a while... since it seems to have a better impact the longer he hit the gatling gun
