Xbox Live is free. Only the GOLD membership requires a subscription. A 13 (12+1) Month Gold Subscription is only $30. How can you complain about that?

I play online all the time and never have any lag. It's peer to peer which is the best. That way thousands of people aren't sharing the same server lag; which results in lag.

Plus I like how people say Voice communication is a minus for Xbox Live. Voice Communication is what makes Live awesome. Just about everyone uses...

There are tons of UMPC's out there. Why does this one have to be overly expensive?

I love the new taskbar and all the new UI features. There are some big differences over Vista.

I'm an IT administrator and I always keep up with the latest OS because I have to be the first one to learn it. Sure Windows 7 feels like Vista SP2... but its what Vista should have been.

I can't believe they're still using the old filesystem though. We were supposed to switch in XP, which got pushed back to Vista, which got ripped out at the last minute because it "...

360 and PC are the same platform, which is why the 360 is easier to program for. You can convert a game designed for a PC to the 360 relatively easy. Just manually tweak the audio, visuals, and controls to better work with the xbox.

You DON'T have to pay for a subscription to get the NXE. Live Silver is free to all users. The GOLD subscription just lets you play in tournaments and voice chat.

They charge for Gold just like the Wii Charges for their browser... so little kids can't get online without an adult intervention.

I love my 360, and the New Xbox Experience user interface is pretty slick.... I don't it is the reason why Xbox is gaining popularity.

If anything, the fall price drop is the culprit of new sales.

All TV's should be capable of displaying the image. The 120hz is just to avoid any headaches (literally).

The reason being is because the glasses "flutter" open and closed opposite of the other eye. Your eyeballs need at least 60hz (bare minimum). Since the glasses flutter open and closed... it means they are closed 50% of the time and open 50% of the time. So for smooth animation you need 120hz which will give each eye 60hz.

Hacking the PSP is what causes such good sales.

Creating an "unhackable" PSP will only kill your sales. Funny how they make the PS3 open to Linux and all kinds of stuff... but the PSP they want to keep locked up.

I don't have a PSP... but if I buy one, I'll be sure to buy one I can hack the way I want it. Sony is just freaking out because they aren't profiting from user created software made for PSP homebrew.

I got the same glasses, the wireless ones even. I saw in the video the guy had a CORD?! wtf.

The new glasses model looks descent, but who wants to be strapped to a cord.

I should go down and dig them out of the basement storage. I don't know why this is such "big" news in gaming all of a sudden. The funny thing all these young pups see this and think its revolutionary. All the Sony followers are saying, "SONY IS LEADING THE WAY TO 3D GAMING!" lma...

Sony lays all their cards out on the table, no surprises.

Microsoft don't announce their games until they are about to release them. This way fanboys aren't whispering secrets for 2 years, get all hyped up, then let down when the game sucks.

We didn't know about Gears 2 until mid-september. Just because MS hasn't spilled the beans doesn't mean they don't have any games this year. I'm sure 2009 will end just like the years before it, with MS on top.

"Just another company realizing Sony is on to something and trying to capitalize. Gang Green has to do something though...especially since they are still trying to catch games like Lair graphically"

You do realize that Nvidia had 3D glasses for about 10 years now? This "technology" is nothing new. I was running 3D glasses with Nvidia Stereo drivers way back in the original Half-Life/Unreal Tournament days. You can even download their drivers right now and star...

I'm using 3D glasses right now on a VGA cable on my PC.

This whole article is a crock. You don't need 1080p, that is plain stupid. All that is being done is redrawing another view point. Hell you can do this in Quake 1 running 640x480 (I know because whats when I bought the glasses). Plus it was working on a CRT monitor way back in the day.

So HDMI, 1080p, etc is all a bunch of crap. The only thing that is required is the game play at a minimum 60 frames per second b...

Sorry, but PC's had this ability 10 years ago. PS3 isn't doing anything revolutionary. They're just making light of old technology

This is the same technology I had in the 90's. Any monitor can do it and any system can do it. All the system does it split the screen into two view points and the glasses have shutters on them, which open and close opposite of the other.

I think I picked up a pair in the late 90's for like $50 for a wireless pair. I still have them actually.

Those "magical" 3D TV's are nothing more then a TV with the software built in. There is no need for special code or ...

There were some awesome games for the virtual boy at the time. Seriously, I think I bought the system for like $20 and it came with Mario Tennis and Wario Land.

The idea was pretty neat except it was all read. If they made that thing color and put some graphical power in it, it would be amazing... even by todays standard (if they made it smaller too!).

I think for what I paid for it... I got my money's worth.

I can't believe that someone actually made a game for a console I owned when I was 6.

I'm not saying this game won't be neat... but who seriously still has a Sega Genesis/MegaDrive laying around?

You can play backed up Wii games without a mod chip or any hardware modifications.

Just a thought....

While I agree that seeing a high gamerscore on Xbox Live *might* make you think the player is a gaming god... but just like PSN users can look at the colored trophies... 360 owners can look at the individual achievements as well and see which ones are stupid and which ones are impossible.

All achievements have different value amounts. Easy ones have lower values vs the hard ones. It also tells the observer how many points the player achieved per game (out of 1000; eg. 545/1000) ...

Sony loses money on the PS3. The PS3 costs, based on pricing from October 2008, the latest version of the PS3 carries a manufacturing cost of $448.73.

So if they sell at $399, they're losing big bucks for every console sold. This total doesn't include other costs, such as software, box contents (such as controllers, cables, manuals, etc) and royalty expenses.

Loses probably range $100 per boxed PS3 sold.

Sony never made a profit on their PS3 units. The g...
