Well well, hold on now.
@from the beach
Simplicity does not mean it is automatically inferior... My goodness no. The game design was going for a minimalist effect (which you've undoubtedly come across in many reviews), comparable to paintings by Henri Matisse, or the writings of Hemingway, in the sense of providing only the elements which carry on essential components of storytelling and aesthetic beauty.
Ok ok. Don't yet toss me asid...
Really nicely written review. Eclectic style, different and it works. Especially for such a different experience.
Aww, I want Journey. I'm so excited for it. I just don't game enough to warrant getting PS+.
Ah well, March 13th!
That WAS epic, indeed.
I'm playing the beta daily now, and I have to say I love it. Amazing action, great gameplay. Love the building engine. The graphics are top notch (especially for the amount of action going on at once).
There's so many ways to experience each battle, whether from a jet, a car, jetpack, or plain troopin'. Here's hoping the rumors of tanks in the final game are true.
I can't wait for the final game; mor...
Video games are completely comparable to any sense of immersion in any other form of media.
You can argue the same for a good book.
A good film.
Good music.
Good Art.
There's a lot of shit in this world that will contribute more to a feeling of sadness. And there's a lot worse places to turn to. It's probably best to at least be social when gaming. That might turn things around.
Play thatgamecompany's f...
@DragonKnight
Hahaha. You said it brother.
No I think Megaton is right, it would make more sense for Sony to release the full MP portion of the game for free.
Cause then they'll make money when more people come. Simple economics dufus.
................ /s if that was even necessary
I'm intensely excited for Journey. Being a big supporter of Thatgamecompany.
It's great to emphasize the point that 'innovation' doesn't require a massive surge of technology or funding, but instead dedicating time and effort to fully develop a simple concept. I'm not saying it's an easy thing to do, but the end result is seamless, intuitive, and just works. I'm mostly talking about going through the journey with an anonymous partner, and devel...
Indeed. And though I don't play COD4 anymore, it only takes me a moment to recall those countless nights of pure COD fun back in the day.
Ahhh yes. Those were the days.
And now I somewhat eagerly await the new UC3 maps.
I quite liked COD4. Twas fun, had a blast playing it. I haven't felt the need to buy any more CODs. I've preferred moving away from the FPS genre in general. Quite a few people, of the mainstream as well as hardcore still enjoy the COD franchise and apparently want to keep buying it.
That's fine with me.
If i'm worried about anything regarding Activision's publishing trends, it's that I hope it doesn't negatively influence other pu...
Ok. Whatever.
Sony should just focus on getting some damn apps + IPs for the Move. Seriously, the Move is an awesome piece of tech, and has proven itself to be brilliant with KZ3 and LBP Move Pack. As well as Tumbler and a few others. The Move could be so successful if Sony pushed new IPs with it.
Work with what you got, Sony. No need to patent new crap just to drive it to the ground.
PS. LBP2 with Move is just fantastic
I have fantastic memories with Burnout Paradise. For some odd reason it was the first game I had played on PS3 where I used my mic and communicated with other people. I just loved the variety of things one could do. Just cruising with friends, horsing around, doing races, or crashes.
My absolute favorite though, was the feeling I had by the beach where there'd be 6-8 people just hitting the jumps together, doing crazy tricks, and everyone watching each other and taking tu...
Yup I like this idea. An interesting way to build tension, along with minimalist ambient music.
So, question... does this mean we'll be shown some LIVE video gameplay soon?! If there's a demo out there, that means video soon... woop woop woop woop woop!!
The Killzone series has yet to really shine in the story category.
Gameplay has always been great, and graphics were great as well.
I would have been more excited to see a different IP from GG, but that would be wishful thinking. Thing is, I'd love to see what GG could do with that engine, in a completely different game.
I thoroughly enjoyed UC3. Every aspect of it.
The only thing that I could qualify as being a "letdown" was that the ending seemed simplistic. I don't necessarily blame them for it. It's just they raised such an intrigue throughout the game, just so that they could stop the evil spirits from getting out and sink the city.
I just find that they build up such mystery in order to never really delve deep into what could be an epic. But again, the...
Village, Plaza, and um. what's that other level with the snow, very reddish brown sort of color palette, set outside... Argh.
[EDIT: oh wait, it does include Sanctuary ^ what I meant. AND Lost city!! Brilliant. Now if only they brought back Village.
Anyway, I do hope they choose to update with all the original UC2 maps. I do think it rather unfair to make us pay for them (especially if we own UC2. Or how about, if it can detect a UC2 trophy for finishing ...
Sure sure sure. I see no problem with the complaints if it relates to the same sort of criticism one might give to UC1 and UC2. I haven't played UC3 so I can't comment with complete conviction...
...BUT, "how there is a very strict set of actions that the game expects you to make at certain times, and if you don't make them, it's game over and you have to try again."
This issue strikes me as a scene in a game that someone might call a &...
Greg's doing coke. Uncharted's big set pieces on a lovely IGN budget TV screen, and a line of coke = 10/10.
:p
I don't know if this is the right place to say it, but here goes..
First off, UC3 is my most anticipated game. I am so excited for it, it's somewhat ridiculous. I've read most of the reviews just to tide me over.. 6 more days....
But as we're talking about voice acting, story telling, etc. I do find the Uncharted series to be top friggin' notch. Currently i'm playing LA Noire and it's fantastic as well. But really Uncharted is in m...
The beta is frankly awesome.
I cannot wait to play the game at its fullest, with all the upgradable buildings and vehicles, and all the new features, and new maps. There's so many ways each game can play out, it's fantastic.
Anyone else feel like there's a very strong Santo Monica influence when it comes to the engine? I almost feel like there's a strange God of War III feel to it. Anyhow, I feel Starhawk could just be one of the best and defi...
