Pretty baffled by this too. Considering he prides himself on delivering emotional stories, he is just an awful, awful writer.
Playing Heavy Rain last night with my gal (I've played it before), and that scene where Ethan is running around in the mall looking for Jason is just laughably bad. Except it isn't laughable, it's actually a really annoying scene. All he had to do was record Ethan yelling Jason's name 10 more times so it wasn't literally the same da...
All fair points. I suppose i'm guilty in simply not expecting much from Microsoft, and that's why I came away pretty impressed. I'm still impressed.
It's also that it seemed to be literally game after game after game. Which is such a huge turn from last year's conference. But hey, that is simply my opinion, so I respect and INVITE disagrees (or agrees w/e). Hehehe.
Anyhow, i'm mostly looking forward to Uncharted 4 tonight, and anything...
Being more inclined toward Sony, I have to admit Microsoft's E3 conference was pretty f***ing strong. The first time i've ever been inclined to buy an xbox. Well done Phil Spencer.
Excited to see Sony's conference and what they can bring to the table.
Haha. This morning's laugh, that.
Nicely written article. Bit of a rarity these days.
I've been keeping a keen eye on the Occulus, in hopes of developing small projects for it, but have yet to try it. Very glad to see that it really gives you a powerful sense of immersion. Good times ahead.
Still scratching my head as to if I should order the DK2. Going to have to crunch on some programming learnin'. Any thoughts? :P
Hehehe. Got that right!
@mac_sparrow
Well said.
My god the animations are awful. No matter how beautiful the game ends up being, those animations for me are just unacceptable. So jolty, crude, and ungraceful. I'd like to see this game be a triumphant example of an Xbox One exclusive, but so far I find myself completely uninterested. Interested enough, however, to comment. But I am not hopeful.
Also, I realize I haven't ever really written the name for the Xbox One in a comment, and I couldn't figure out how to ...
Damn, that's pretty insane! I did love Stardust. Looking forward to this like crazy.
Sometimes I feel like 2D shit is the absolute best way to show off new tech. PixelJunk Eden on PS3 for me was a hell of an experience. So crisp, clean, and beautiful. I lost myself in that.
Weeeell, to be fair, I feel like this game doesn't necessarily show off its true beauty through compressed YouTube footage... Knowing that all those individual cubes are bits and pieces broken up in real time is something you can only really comprehend while playing the game on your hdtv in 1080p, IMO.
At first sight, knowing little about this game, it doesn't show off its true potential. So uh, like, don't question his mental health brah.
Mika, you suck bud.
j-blaze, have you actually played The Last of Us?
I've been on N4G long enough to know who ya are. But I mean to ask that question seriously. Cause it's really very good, by any standards. And i'm just wondering. If you haven't played it, give it a try.
@Sketchy_Galore.
Had a good laugh. But yes I'm afraid I agree with you that Knack doesn't appeal to me for those same reasons. I suppose it's just a game that I have a faint interest in (because it's developed my Mark Cerny's team), but frankly doesn't seem to float my boat. But I wait for reviews, and if it ends up being a good story, with good gameplay, I might just develop an interest!
@Darrius Cole.
Clap... Clap... Clap.. Clap.. Clap. Clap. Clap, Clap, Clap! Clap! CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!! CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP!!!!
...Well said.
I feel ya. Man i'm just going through The Last of Us for the first time, and i've never played a game that has me play so safe. It is so tense, and frankly stressful, that I find myself playing as though I care about my own life. That means smart and slow.
I understand now why some reviews said sometimes the experience isn't fun, because it's just so damn tense. That's what makes it amazing, and what carries it to another level. Combine that with the story...
Hehe. I lol'd. Good response, sir!
TomShoe;
Hahahaha @ Madden 2025. Yep, thanks for the laugh.
hahahahaha
Yeah i'm not expecting that your character is actually always around for others to see etc. But that in the cloud perhaps it continues to "perform" activities, so when you spawn it's in the middle of something. Bla, maybe not though considering it wouldn't make sense to suddenly spawn cop cars into the persistent world where others are.
Not sure if I make sense there. It's all so complex!
Hoohooheeehawwhawwhawww....
I did have a good laugh :)
