if a game is going to be a somewhat tedious hack n'slash sort of game, it might as well look good doing it. Heck, Dynasty Warriors wasn't much to look at (never mind the ho-hum gameplay) and yet it garnered quite the following. I would say that N3 has a chance of recreating this sort of following. Don't own the game, but played it at a friend's place, and you're right, it is just fun/gorgeous to watch. I have to admit, these types of games are just what the doctor ordered after a heavy night...

1080i and 1080p are two totally different beasts. I don't remember seeing too many 1080p (native) sets back 3 years ago. Most tvs nowadays can do both 720p and 1080i. I have a 36" Sony tube tv (weighs 260 lbs!!!) that can do 480p/1080i from 6 years ago. Plasmas back then were in the $8000 - $20,000 range and had a life expectancy of 4-5 years. What a joke.
Why would people spring for the 1080p tvs when they are (according to you) only marginally better than the 720p/1080i tvs? Hmmmm...for the same reason people buy a Lexus when they could essentially save tens of thousands going with a Toyota that is only marginally "inferior". do you know the difference between interlaced and progressive? Use the internet and look it up. 720p vs 1080i may show only a marginal difference, but 1080i vs 1080p...sorry but no contest (on big tvs 50"+)
will be coming out in Japan this September for a bargain price of $60,000. When you get to that size screen, a higher resolution will be key. Kind of tempted to get one...may have to buy the wife something really nice though.

Not a fanboy, but I own a 72" 1080p (native) Toshiba DLP that I have in my home theater room. My 55" Hitachi plasma only does 720p/1080i but is none the less a great tv.
all execs like to talk up their product (and why wouldn't they, you should be confident and proud in the product you are trying to sell), but not all execs downplay the competition. Possibly the deepest fighting game ever. This game has never been the most graphically superior game (that award probably goes to the second most technical fighter, Soul Caliber), but has given me countless hours of fun. I can't wait for this game to come out.

I can't believe I have to explain this...the message I was trying to convey in that post was how fanboys (especially MS fanboys) will only defend a game if they know it's coming to their console of choice and sh!t on it otherwise.
