All that time I spent playing Counter Strike online for free, I was thinking to myself "Damn, this sucks!" :)
I didn't like this game anyways". Or maybe....if you're a optimistic Sony fanboy, you could say "They're just holding off on releasing it, so they can launch it at the same time as Halo 3, to steal MS' thunder". Just trying to predict the future...well the possible comments that will be made regarding this article.
There acutally will be a difference in visual quality, though it may be short lived. The initial batch of HD-DVD players will only support 720p/1080i, while all the Blu-ray players will support up to 1080p. And before you blast me with "what's the point of 1080p when hardly any tvs support it?", let me retort by saying that there are a few tvs that support 1080p, with more coming on the way. It may only be a very small segment of the population that can afford/are willing to pay for...
Do you honestly think HD-DVD will prevail over Blu-ray? If so, would you be willing to make a friendly wager on that? We could pick out a date, not too far in the future (say 1.5 years from now), and see who comes out on top. This would all of course depend largely on whether either format succeeds....there is still that good chance that both flop. The definition of success should be determined by a 3rd, unbiased party, of course. I'd be willing to bet up to a grand on blu-ray. Note: this bet...
I think is still years away from being widely accepted. There are still a lot of people that are wary of investing money, time, and energy on downloadable content, storing it all on a hard drive, with the slight chance of some how losing it all. Obviously backing things up is a great insurance, but it is still the idea/design that puts many people off. For the few that are computer savy, it ain't nothing but a chicken wing (especially with all the pirated software/content out there:)
Well to be fair, both games are very linear. You obviously have your different ways to go about a mission, but yeah, in most missions for SC, if you get caught, game over. In MGS, if you get caught, there is a chance of evading the onslaught of enemy soldiers that will be alerted. Obviously, that in itself makes MGS a little more unrealistic regarding gameplay, but I think that it makes it challenging enough without it becoming too frustrating. I personally like games that are very challengin...
If you know of where I can read about Sony's control over retailers, I would be much obliged. It sure would lighten up my day. Oh and yes, I do think that Sony and MS are very much alike. They want your money. They want it bad. They want it really bad. And to quote every comedies' stereotype of a crackhead, "Give me $20. C'mon on man! Alright, give me $10.......I suck your d!ck!".
Again, the Halo 3 comment was a lie. If you don't believe me, go to church and give the pastor/priest/rabbi the actual comment that was made by Bill Gates and the statement that was made by Bungie, and they will tell you that it constitutes as a lie and that he will surely go to hell unless he repents (maybe not hell if you are Jewish). But in all seriousness, Bill Gates is "the man" at MS, how should he not know, and if he didn't know, then does that make it all right? Again, I mus...
"problems can arise to delay new software like that"? Is hardware a different story? Sony did tell us that the PS3 would be delayed well before "spring" ended (I say this in partial jest). You are correct about the unfinished, untested components of the PS3, and you may also be correct about it all being part of Sony's strategy to string consumers along, but you may also be wrong. It could be that they were sincerely trying to get the system ready by spring, test the PS3 o...
as does MS. Can't we all agree that both (and all) companies "lie". I don't feel I need to extrapolate on Sony's lies as someone has taken the liberty to name most of them off...and since most of you xbox fans either suffer from short-term memory or selective memory, let me remind you of the lies they spewed that stood out for me: Halo 3 waiting for PS3 launch, HD-DVD with 360 launch, backwards compatibility will be fully supported (as it should be, since they were a bit light (qual...
I responded false in jest. But in all seriousness, it is just your opinion, as my response was my opinion (though again, it was partly in jest). It's hard to say one console as more exclusives than the other when one of the consoles hasn't even been released yet. Again, as it happened with so many titles on the previous-gen consoles, we could see that the word exclusive means a timed exclusive (splinter cell, RE, GTA, etc.) I think that the only true exclusives will be the inhouse developed g...
False
I hope it's more than just a prettier Max Payne...not that there was anything wrong with MP, but I've played my share of copy cats since the original and am getting a little bored with the gameplay. A good storyline and well placed/timed scripted events could obviously turn things around, so here's to hoping a big time movie director gets it right.
"Will the $500 version wash clothes too? And does it have a setting for delicates?"
Whoa, whoa, hold on there...what do you think this is? It's only a game console/pc/media center/blu-ray player/toaster/washer. You can't expect the PS3 to do everything and also be able to incorporate every little feature too. Give me a break. The $500 unit will only have one setting, the $600 one will have 3 settings, but lucky for us, both versions will be fully upgradeable. All this...
"it doesnt indicate how popular the playstation brand name is"???? The playstation brand name has already been well established and as it stands, is also immensely popular. And btw, how many hardcore fans do you personally know that are willing to drop a grand into the PS3? The people that are willing to buy game consoles on ebay at those bloated prices are those that are not well informed. Hardcore fans may not all be the brightest of people, but I'm sure they would have done enoug...
It's funny that you mention grass stains on a shirt, because it may not be public knowledge yet, but I heard from a friend, whose cousin's married to a manager at a best buy, who was visited by a Sony exec's brother-in-law, who was divulged this inside info, that the PS3 will be able to wash a load of laundry for up to a family of 5. We should all be thankful that Sony did not only think about the size of the average Japanese household (2.7) when implementing this awesome feature.
I made that comment with the understanding that there will be shortages, and that the people that will pick up these initial batches of PS3s are but a small sampling, but nevertheless a sampling. Just as with the PS2, the media will cover the mad frenzy over the PS3 and how some people are willing to pay $xxxx to get their hands on one. This will in turn help to hype up the Sony machine even more. I mean, c'mon really, is the ipod any better? That thing is so overpriced, compared to the compe...
may not be as good as Tide and for sure isn't a better value, but we guarantee it'll keep your whites white. I see that most of you don't have a degree in advertisemnt. It's probably for the better :)
Why would the average consumer walk into a store and ask about a product that hasn't even been properly "announced" yet? When I say "announced", I'm not talking about the announced launch date and price, I'm talking about the advertisements (paid and hyped) that go along with any pre-launch of a gaming console. I have yet to see Sony do anything in those regards, other than certain websites, gaming magazines, and the sporadic news reports, all of which Sony does not offici...
"Well, if it's gonna be that kind of party, I'm gonna stick my d!ck in the mash potatos" -Beastie Boys
No really, if it's about who's rich, I proclaim myself wealthiest person on this site. I will challenge all new-comers. I will of course need your bank account number and routing information in order to verify your status.....
