maybe the reality is all these things are peripherals, maybe the ps4 is a peripheral for the tv too.

maybe the reality is, that people are moving away from peripherals, that people want a device that 'does it all.' ie, people dont want a computer anchored to the table with a monitor and a keyboard and a mouse, they want a tablet. no, they want their computer to be their phone, and to also double as their camera.

all these...

its just a way to make it more marketable.

they cant call it a peripheral because nobody would be willing to pay the inevitable hundreds of pounds it will cost, for a peripheral.

if they call it a new platform, the product becomes more attractive and the perceived value increases. ie it will be easier to sell.

but lets face it- it is a peripheral. it relies on the ps4 as a host, it interfaces with the ps4... it can not operate without it. tha...

you are right. i was planning on buying a wiiu for xenoblade x this year, but since nintendo held the wiius funeral this month (E3,) obviously im having second thoughts.

its most likely i will now only buy a wiiu when it is heavily discounted. not a penny over £80. and that is pushing it for the carcass of an obsolete console with retro technology inside.

also, ninten do has severely damaged consumer confidence in its brand after the shambles of wiiu. ...

nintendo used to be innovators. now they are desperately trying to stay relevant

it doesnt look good to me, just a mindless hack and slash. its only good on wiiu because there is literally nothing else to choose from

im completely aware of that, but im also referring to other studios, such as platinum. they have commission many studios this gen to make games for them.

you would think they would do that to free their teams up... but still their output seems very minimal. and the projects they are releasing are hardly massive

i mean, for gamers they are exciting partnerships because they allow us to play familiar franchises but with a new twist. but maybe the reality is, n...

you never truly own a digital copy.

you cant take it around your friends.

you cant lend it to somebody.

you cant sell it on when you are done with it.

you cant trade it.

you dont have the nice artwork/packaging that comes with a physical copy

....

its no wonder devs stay away from nintendo consoles when their games get shelved, put on hold or no promotion/sales.

seems nintendo cant cope. all these different studios are making nintendo games... what are nintendo actually doing?

the wiiu is only a worthwhile purchase if you are a die hard nintendo fan.

why would an average consumer buy a wiiu when the only games worth playing on it (AAA) are

pikmin 3

mario 3d world

wind waker hd

mario kart 8

smash bros

Yoshis wooly world

beyonetta

xenoblade

ultimately, only the last two have univ...

when he says 5 or 6 years, he is obviously exaggerating, because 5 or 6 years is damn near a console generation. but yeh, nintendo do announce games years in advance, zelda being one of them.

massive games with long development cycles like zelda, need to be announced in advance to assure the public they are coming. if nintendo practiced what they preach, we wouldnt even know zelda wiiu exists. we wouldnt have seen that demo years ago when they unveiled the wiiu either.

@deadpoolio316

i think its extremely important that nintendo make a console with cutting edge technology because the industry requires it to run the latest games. if you have 3 consoles, and (ideally) devs producing games for all 3, they need to be on a level playing field. having one console VASTLY weaker will only mean it will miss out, we have seen this time and time again on wiiu, and wii. and any port nintendo does get is usually inferior, or some alternative version... ...

nintendo need to go back to basics with NX.

it needs to be gimmick free

it needs to be cutting edge so it can play the graphics intense games of today and tomorrow

it needs strong 3rd part support

...im afraid non of these things will happen because nintendo hasnt evolved with the industry. they havent adapted their business to produce the cutting edge, evidence of this is that they have a HD console with the wiiu, but haven...

another day, another nail in the wiius coffin

to successfully hammer another nail into an already nail-riddled coffin day in, day out takes considerable skill

dont get mad at me because you blew hundreds of pounds on a rubbish console that has been abandoned by its maker and the last few games it does have going for it wont even get a hard copy lol

but hey, you will 'get it even if that's the case,' in effect sending the message to nintendo that its ok, its alright to invest in a console only to be shafted a mere 2-3 years down the line and 'make do' with whatever they release.

''Fils-Aime: Nintendo is always thinking games, it doesn't sell TVs or operating systems''

which makes it even more astonishing that they have so few games. their entire purpose for existing is to make games, and yet here we are upset because they have nothing substantial to show.

it should also be their business to create strong relationships with 3rd parties to ensure their hardware has games even if they cant fill the release schedule ...

no no no, nintendo. consumers completely understood the wiiu, they simply didnt like it. take responsibility, stop being in denial and shifting blame to consumers for your failure to grasp the market.

if nintendo doesnt change their approach, the NX is going to be a very expensive funeral

''Miyamoto: Tablets Overtook Wii U Quickly''

? bizarre. was the wiiu seriously competing with tablets? i didnt think so, and if nintendo intended that, then its no wonder the wiiu failed.

nintendo didnt know what they were doing with wiiu.

i pray they spare the NX of the gimmick BS, because really, nobody wants it and nobody respects it.

wii was an exception because of a particular time in gaming history where...
